    Watched your MDS posts way back, truly inspired me to put it on my bucket list. However, the price is a kick in the🍒

      Yeah the cost of some of these races eh! Well worth it but you got to have the money 💴 😢 - took me a while to save

    As an Ultra runner myself (MacLeHose/Wilson Trail/Hong Kong trail in Hong Kong - think I may still hold the record for the last one though not sure. 4 Desert Races, Centurion across the North Downs etc etc) I agree with the Salt Tablets, however, you need to get your stomach used to them, otherwise you will suffer from Diarrhoea. Train, train and train a little more. Never do something on race day you have not well prepped for!

    I'm never going to run it but it's nice to know I'll survive if ever dropped into a situation where I need to run several back to back marathons across the desert. Also squirrels nut butter sounds delicious. Maybe I should stick to half marathon 🤔

    Wish I had watched this before I showed up @ MDS 27 ! In particular .. TAKE YOUR SALT TABLETS ! My first rookie mistake ... ;) I would also like to add two more tips - 6) When packing your backpack.. try to get the heaviest stuff up as high on your shoulders as you can... and counterbalance from there on the front pack .. makes all the difference! 7) Do NOT go into the medical tent unless it's a matter of life or death! I made the mistake of going in there for a bit of blister relief end of day 2 .. and they basically butchered my feet with a scalpel to the point where I could not walk.. let alone run.... do your own foot management!!!

      I went into the tent and they gave me the knife and iodine and did it myself. They we so busy. Great race and experience 😍

    Thanks again for your vlogs, Adam! You have never mentioned heat aclimation. Did you do any of that prior to your race?
    Also, do you have any tips on things to bring for the two days before the first stage begins? I heard some people bring luxury air mattresses that they leave behind when the race begins just to get some good nights sleep.

      @ultrarunneradam  2 роки тому +2

      Hi tommy. I went to st Mary’s Twickenham and did 5 sessions of 30mins in a heat chamber 2 weeks before. No I didn’t bring anything apart from a few snacks and sweets. The mattress thing sounds ridiculous- you won’t sleep well as new environment nerves and snoring. Thanks for watching and good luck 🤞

    Vey useful Adam, thank you. I'm still to do a multi day event like this or Dragons Back. What was the heat like? Did you manage to sleep well in the tents? Was the whole experience expensive? Thanks and I look forward to the feet taping!

      You need to watch my videos! It’s all there. A multi day is amazing as you get to run everyday! Switch off and just focus on the event. Proper holiday! 😍

    Hi Adam. Any chance you could do a video on the strength and conditioning training you did for the Arc?

    • @ultrarunneradam
      @ultrarunneradam  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Chris - yes good idea. I haven’t done one as it a little tricky and as I’m not qualified in that area I worry I may cause someone an injury. But I can give it a go and start with a disclaimer! 💪💪

    Interesting stuff. So you threw food away? So, food is available as you go? I thought you had to carry everything for yourself right from the start?

    • @ultrarunneradam
      @ultrarunneradam  2 роки тому +1

      You are self sufficient and carry your own food. I took too much so threw some away to make a lighter pack! As did a lot of us. You are never given food by the organisation during the race.
