Played this once in Times Square in 1982 and never saw it again until right now. Man, the sound design is killer, the entire machine seared itself into my head back then.
Thanks for this video! I love my Hyperball. It's loud and obnoxious, but like you said, with the dialed back settings is actually understandable and fun to play. When we have people over it gets a lot of play I think because it is so different.
At least you could follow this game, unlike Bally's "Rapid Fire." Back in junior high a hometown arcade had a Hyperball and I really got into it. I saw a Rapid Fire about a year ago at an Illinois arcade and still can't make heads or tails of what's going on with the thing. I'm sure that neither game "clicked" with a lot of players, but at least Hyperball's sound and light shows made sense.
A couple of the arcades I used to frequent had Hyperball machines when they were brand new. Quite the novel idea and fun a couple of times, but the racket from the internal mechanism was borderline deafening. Nice to see this one working so perfectly though. They had “out of order” signs on them quite regularly.
@@xyrzmxyzptlk1186 Never tried one yet but have heard of their reputation for being quite loud. Some day I will give it a go, like you said they are quite novel.
Love this and what a great video 👍❤️👊
Superb machine. Love the artwork and sound. It's loud, but there's nothing else like it. Great video.
Awesome Williams Pinball Machine ❤

😵💫 That’s insane!
And then the police knocked on your door after a noise complaint? "Sir, you can't be playin' Hyperball after 8PM"
