Thank You Miss Angel, As a carpenter I have always made jigs and job specific benches of good hardwoods. Having a touch of class in your tools makes you take better care of them. For wrenching I do the same. Machinist dye is an old man's friend for visibility where cutting and shaping is critical. Take pride in home built tools and jigs, it is what separates us from the plinkers. I sent you an email with pics of my camper being rained on here in Missouri. Taking a break from traveling to "money up" by doing some carpentry work. It's making me feel old though, these young ones on the crew don't even know what a (slick) is or how to use it. I was hired to hand cut Cedar beams and a truss for the front of a house. No ugly steel brackets, just mortise and tenon joints to hold the truss together in place. Not as much as riding, but I love woodworking. With Love and Respect You are in my prayers Hoka Hey
Well you're welcome Van. And thank you! I have always loved homemade tools because they end up being one-of-a-kind lots of the time. I especially love tools that are made for doing a very specific job on a very specific custom vehicle or piece of equipment haha.
"But Dad likes to give out tools to everyone." That's my father's motto! First, he gives tools to everyone, and then walks around the house and mumbles that they were not returned to him for some reason.😂😱
@@johnhall3860sorry John, UA-cam must have been having a glitch cause it showed that a different person had made the comment that you left 🤔 I was wondering why Van commented twice when normally he doesn’t lol
R & R Machine Tools, 😂, That was a Very Nice Job, if you have room for a tool board on the wall, as you make certain tools, you can hang it up on the wall, Wall Art 🖼️, And of course he was to sign it, And it will make it easier to find your perfect all, it won’t get damaged, keep up the great work stay safe, both of you,
Hello from NJ nice job on that tool Angel I am the same way with homemade tools why buy it when you can make it yourself. And with the extra money you can get more gas to ride your motorcycle. Take care.
Another great job making your own tools lets you do your own work without the cost of buying one and you have it the same day you want it. Thats what i did growing up because i didn't have the money to go out and buy any special tools excellent job Red you made it look easy thanks for sharing
"Everybody's favorite motorcycle friend"... That was funny. Nice work. I've always put the bike in gear and ran a chain through the side of the sprocket and around the swing arm. But I'm guessing that the gears in the gearbox probably don't like that too much; which makes me cringe every time I do it.
I made something similar for the crank nut. It’s a round plate with a handle, the round plate has 6 bolts sticking out which fit behind the 6 block on the inside of the clutch basket and prevent it from rotating. With the basket locked and the primary chain/belt present you can now do up or loosen the crank nut.
Cool that you make your own tools n give them to others, paying it forward. The bloopers at the end were funny. If I tried to record something it would all be bloopers and editing would be an all-day chore. I am planning on going to the Forgotten Angeles campout this fall, hopefully see you there. Just moved to Mountain Home Arkansas yesterday so it is only 1k miles to Tampa, only a full day's ride.
Agreed! Really nice, just like a tool and die maker would do minus the blue. Maybe a quick patent and have someone turn them out for sale with a fun name for the tool. ❤😊
Excellent video, and well enjoyed, thanks. At 7:14 when you are setting up the new tool to be re-drilled, before you turn on the power to the drill press, rotate the work piece so it contacts the upright column (frame) of the drill press. Many people have been seriously injured (lose fingers) when their drill bit suddenly jams in the hole causing the work piece to swing around. If you are already in contact with the drill press column before you start drilling, the work piece can't swing around to injure you.
I'm new to your channel and have to say I'm pretty impressed with your content. I have an 82 Shovelhead Sturgis and I use a piece of flat bar between the compensator sprocket and clutch basket sprocket. Cheers from down under 🇦🇺 Stan.
Homemade tools are super cool! Great job. I have made quite a few tools myself for different projects and have come across quite a few in used tool lots I have bought or been given it always makes me wonder what some of them were for. I keep them because I am so intrigued and maybe someday I'll find out what they are for lol
The best tool for that clutch is a cutting torch. The Barnett Scorpion conversion is the best money you can spend on a Shovel. That OE clutch is a big generator of vibration in addition to its horrible performance. I just use a DC impact to remove the hub nut, save the outer shell for my conversion and toss the rest.
Love hearing the dammits... lol I feel for ya. My Harley street has collapsed fuel line... after I replaced fuel pump. I've said it runs as it's made to do. It's perfect skull bike for me. Nice work hun.
Just as I suspected, I did learn something ha ha. Thanks for making such a wonderful bid really well done. My dad used to have a shop, that I could’ve done all kinds of things like that when I was a kid, but he was not a motorcycle enthusiast. We did heating and air conditioning. We had drill presses and lays and welders make pretty much whatever you want.
Necessity is the mother of invention… Or a few well placed curse words when you look up the cost of special tools you need. I’ve fabricobbled things together that I needed for marine use that never looked as good as what you just made here. If someone were to open my “special tools” drawer of my toolbox they’d most likely be asking “what the f*#k is this for?” LOL!

A slick is a tool that I do not have. It drives me nuts how expensive they've become.
On the other hand, I got my froe for about $20 :)
Thats cool! I always make thing out of steel but I should start messing with aluminum
Yea it's so much lighter
