The mechanical "odometer" is brilliant
Hey thank you very much, I was happy it worked pretty well :)
I’m genuinely suprised 4 motors could be that fast! That’s not far off me running a 100m, you should try and beat Usain Bolt’s 100m dash world record with a lego car, I wonder how many motors it would take to get around 9 seconds I think!😂 great video as always!! Nice to see more uploads!
Cheers Easton :) yeah it surprised me too, it’s running with some decent lithium rechargeable batteries in which helped. Still nowhere near buwizz but very good.
The limiting factor is going to be the treadmill, I think I’d have to double the motors at least to get near 9 seconds.
I think this car would beat me now 😂
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines do it! Lol I think that would be so cool!
@eastonchristensen3601 I’ll give it a go. I thought about doing an eco run and seeing how far a Lego car could travel using one hub… I’ve always wondered(some strange thoughts go through my head!)
I’m not sure if it’s something others would like as it could be pretty boring lol. Maybe have cars using different tyres or one fast, medium and slow.
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines I’ve wondered that too!!! How long can a standard pack go with just 6 or 8 batteries?(idk how much it is)🤔 I think that would be super interesting! And you should definitely try different strategies that real life cars use to get better gas mileage, and see if it works on lego cars! Usually that will be different tired and different gear ratios, and maybe better suspension, less weight, all of that, you should definitely do that!
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines Couldn't you increase the speed of the track with gears, too? I know that it wouldn't look as elegant, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
And it would be really interesting to see how much slower it would be if you put it on a real 100m track (maybe with a video of Usain Bolt's record run in a window in the corner).
A Lego car being faster than him in real-life conditions would be the most awesome thing ever.
Would be interesting to see how fast the vehicles actually are when driving on the normal road :)
Indeed the one problem with this and Lego is you have to be within Bluetooth range, then there’s the cars and kerbs haha :)
Surprisingly fast. I've seen Lego cars on a normal treadmill before, but this is the first time that I've seen one with a rolling road set up to measure time/speed over 100m. Another great video mate, can't wait for the next!
Hey cheers Lee, I enjoyed doing this one. Thanks as always :)
Here is my idea: using the 100k rpm setup, can a sawblade cut wood?
I have consistently forgotten to come back here but welcome back! I can’t wait to see more interesting builds like this stuff
Hey hey so nice to see you :) I’ve been so lazy I’d not uploaded for 7 months I think! Needed a few fresh ideas and a rest from lego. Hope you’re keeping well!
I love how you made the thingy yourself, instead of using a band thing
Hey cheers, I try to keep most things Lego, it’s part of the challenge :)
Unfortunately this test doesn't include aerodynamic resistance. Maybe you could a fan in the front, and adjustable elevation to the treadmill. This could make a really good indoor test rig for all kinds of land vehicles.
Hey there I so nearly did use the fan which I used on my last vehicle, wish I had now :)
Wow, its great to see you have grown so much, 127k already! Keep it up👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Jarno it’s been a long time :) :) Thank you very much!
Always a joy to see your projects!😊
Hey thank you very much for that :)
I'd like to see a long distance challenge. Kind of like a car has wear and tear after thousands of miles, what kinda of wear and tear occurs on a lego built car after 60, 120, 500 miles?
I like it thank you! I did mention to someone about doing an eco challenge, how long a Lego car using one hub could travel. I’ve always wondered haha.
I think the wear and tear at low rpm would be fine but at a certain speed like here I think the axles would wear out.
In this test the parts to wear out most was the part the tracks were running on! It literally ground the top layer off until I used oil :)
Awesome as always!
Hey thank you very much :)
woah thats pretty sick

Amazing idea WOW
Hey thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
this is so cool! next, can we do a hydraulic press? also, maybe you can flip the treadmill then it will become a vehicle?
Hmmmmm! what's that i smell?! oh yeah, melted lego!!!! awesome build my friend, did you oil the axles at all? i keep melting mine. Love your work, it's mega impressive and brilliantly presented. One of the few channels i return to 👍🍺🇬🇧
Haha hey Carl and thank you so much!you’re correct! When I first tried this the treadmill started to slow down and I got ‘that smell’ I looked under the tracks and I had melted all the top surface. I got the oil out afterwards and it worked just fine thank fully! Sorry for late reply 🍺🍺😀
Nice video, did you have to control both the car and treadmill seperately or were they synced in some way?
Hey Donnacha cheers, i had to control both separately! It was tricky at first. Once the car was maxed out I just controlled the treadmill speed :)
Cool.
:)
It probably drives 100 m faster than I can run a 100 m sprint!
Haha definitely me :)
Awesome.
Hey thank you so much :)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines
You're very much welcome. ^^
I wonder if a gearbox with 4 speeds shift will help to improve the record
The limiting factor here was the treadmill, I’m hoping to improve this soon! I’m not sure ive ever built a Lego gearbox! I really need to though :)
have u tried to make a working lego system that can use only the power of wind?
Hey there :) I’ve thought about this, it would make a pretty cool project. My garden is a bit sheltered though doh!
It's a great experiment and a great build, but you can't read too much into the results. Without air resistance there's no external forces acting on the cars except the reaction from the road. Also in real life a considerable amount of energy is required to accelerate the vehicle which is not replicated in this test (it's kinetic energy on the rolling road is always zero). But good job anyway!
It's basically just a no load speed measuring machine
Hey thank you for the insightful comment, I almost used the fan as some wind resistance haha.
Yes the acceleration is not the same as it helps spin the wheels up but the top speed is still identical other than a tiny amount of wind resistance :)
I’m not sure Donnacha, this is just like a treadmill where all the normal laws of physics apply, it’s not a rolling wheel type rolling road with no load. When it’s at top speed it’s still shifting it’s own weight just like we do on a running machine :) As hard as I try on a running machine you can’t cheat it, I get knackered lol
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines one thing that they do in garages is to keep the front wheel fixed and the rear ones (the one that provide acceleration) are forced to rotate a dynamometer (basically a wheel with known friction, so you can find out power output). If you can replace the current treadmill (powered by separate motors) with a dynamo-style treadmill (the car is forced to rotate it), then it will be similar to that.
You can't still apply wind resistance this way tho, but this itself will be a great change :D
Don't weld your axles at those RPMs lol.
Haha it was worse than that I almost welded the tracks to the machine at first! It melted the top layer of plastic until I used some oil :)
1:07 funny how you rounded things when calculating and ended up with 2.99 instead of 3 😂
Haha well spotted, I’m unsure why myself lol
Probably shortened 1,666666666666666666... to 1,66 or something similar...
Math is funny sometimes
hey you're alright ? you havent done a video in half a year. ik am not subscribed (gonna do it after i post this comment) but i got kinda worried lol, i hope its just a break
Hey there! Yes I’m good thank you :) thanks for asking too! A few things come up but I’ll be doing a video very soon.
Cheers Gaz
Still waiting part 2 sound barrier
Mind this is without air ressistance
Yes I wish I’d added the fan on the front from the fan car, it wouldn’t be accurate but a nice touch maybe :)
But how fast does this car run on the floor ?
Can I have instructions please
Please break the sound barrier like you said
he already did
How build

Привет. Собери пожалуйста триммер для кошения травы или газонокосилку из лего. Будет интересно способно ли лего на это и хватит ли энерговооружённости.
Hi there I have :) hopefully a video soon, 100% Lego
Are you ramping the car up to full power, then manually adjusting the speed of the treadmill to keep it on? Or is the setup more sophisticated?
what do the clock hands mean
