wicked tune. makes me realise that either im getting old or the music these days just dont do nothing for me, why does everyone love slow jams now? i really despise r'n'b ...rant over !
Massive tune! Classic example of the music of the time, jungle breaks, dancehall/ragga vs sped up vocal samples, piano licks, synth stabs and big bassline. A bit of everything for everyone... What's not to like? I guess the scene eventually split naturally into the Jungle/Drum n Bass and Happy Hardcore directions, but it's interesting to think what might have happened if it had carried on as Hardcore as I guess most of us called it back then.
yep, helter skelter first seen in a corrugated steel shed in milton keynes! great great times, went on a kool fm coach from london in ninety ninety erm sometime!
i remember this on ' strictly underground ' a compilation of evil tunez that escape me now .. 1 was called ' searching for gold ' too anybody know what i'm talking about and where i can get it, cheers ;)
trust me this sounds like jungle but at the time this came out there was no such thing. This entire genre of music was known as hardcore - breakbeats with snare drums and piano breaks with sometimes dark or happy samples. This developed over time to split over time along darker and happier paths into drum and bass/jungle and happy hardcore respectively but this didnt happen until atleast 1993/4.
Jungle tunes did start coming out in 92, here's two jungle tunes from 92 to get started d livin, why & potential bad boy give them a listen to see what you think.
@@nattydread1656 Yeah I know these two upon relistening. I suppose you're right in a way but this i reckon is still pre-divergence. the sound was starting to split but there was no definitive "this is jungle" & "this is still hardcore" It was all.....the 92 movement back then some tunes just with darker samples. For example DJs weren't split by genre back then, nor were there separate rooms or anything like that. Kenny Ken would have been just as likely to follow this with loop da loop era, Slipmatt would have been just as likely to drop these too.
Don't really like happy hardcore break beat is the true hardcore but that's just me I do love my drum and bass to because it has some of the same elements
oh gosh! hand in the air for that piano!
Awesome

I would call it old skool rave or hardcore, could also call it breakbeat. Not jungle though.
