Art Ideas - Create your own Treasure Map!

Use your imagination and a few supplies to create your own treasure map.
If you have watercolor or thick drawing paper, tear the edges and soak it with brown and yellow watercolors. If you don't have watercolors, you can use food coloring, or watered down acrylic paint. If you don't have any thick paper on hand, you can skip the painting part and use a paper bag to get a realistic old map look. Sketch out symbols for your map of different kinds of land and water.
Think of mountains, lakes, rivers, trees...what are some objects that might help on the journey? What are some dangerous elements that would have to be avoided? Are there wizards and ogres or dangerous whirlpools? WHEN and WHERE is your map? Is it an old map, or from a fantasy world?
Sketch all your elements out first on a sketch paper and when you are happy with the design lay it out on the final paper. If you want nice contrast and dark lines, use a gel or felt tip pen. Have fun!
