You are a lifesaver! Filing sales and use tax for the first time for my small biz and you’ve saved me from having a major anxiety/heart attack from stress 😆🙏🏼
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I could honestly cry. This is EXACTLY what I needed. I'm getting taxjar right now and now know how the heck to input everything on the cdtfa site. I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out the past 2 days. You're amazing!
@@Vanader I'm losing my mind trying to figure this out. I've got taxjar linked to Amazon and am trying to file for california. When I go to the page you were on, it's showing me my annual sales for 2021, but every other thing says zero and there are no districts or counties at the bottom like yours. What am I missing?
I just filed my FBN/DBA. Registered for my sellers permit, EIN to open a business bank account. I told my self that i want to learn this from the ground up. Have that foundation. Legally run even my FBA bushiness and be smart about moving forward with it. Everything from how to pay your tax as an online seller. I have learned there's a lot involved and you don't want to be that person in the end caught with your pants down. That is where i feel a lot of people don't think about and don't get organized and prepared to later prevent a headache and surprise. That could end up costing you a lot of money at tax time if you don't organize your self and are prepared. That would be one BIG reason people get discouraged and leave behind something you could be successful in if you had just followed easy steps and kept proper documentation. A lot of people don't talk about it and make it sound like you should just create an AMZ seller account and easy peasy. Well I say if you're a beginner, start there.
I only sold on Etsy for 3 months & gave up. Got an email from CDTFA to file? But I thought Etsy took sales tax already & took care of it. Is there anything I still need to do? Please and thank you.
Hmm i didnt find this as helpful as everyone else seems to be finding it. And I dont mean that in a rude way. I'm just curious because Im on the Schedule C - Local Tax Allocation section and It has a calculated $117,781 Total amount to be reported on local tax schedules, which just seems extremely high?? And yet when we try to click next, it won't let us continue and it says we didn't report enough for taxes, and yet it doesn't tell us what we need to put where and it seems like we put in everything as far as calculation wise, you should include the walk through of those steps in a video like this.
This is extremely helpful, thank you so much. Just started a small business and it definitely has been a journey trying to teach myself everything as I market my product at the same time.
Hi Evan, I am a small business in California, you say taxes are due yearly. So does this mean I don't have to report it to my state every quarter? Or is that still necessary?
Thanks for the video! Somehow my due date is on 31st January (not in July), but could you please help me - if all of my sales were made on Amazon, and only one sale in California that was handled by me - how do I deduct sales taxes that Amazon collected for me? As I understand, I should report those sales anyway?.. The second question - should I report my Amazon sales which was shipped outside of California? Will be really appreciate your advice.
So I only need to report California sales? Also I sell on squarespace and etsy. Do I need to report California sales from these platforms? They collect sales tax on the transactions for me.

So for this sellers permit, I only did 3 markets last year, how do I file for these? I have all my sales written down, but basically broke even with my booth fee for all of them.

@Vanader Hi, thx for the great video! One question, (I live in California) what if I don't trigger a nexus in CA? I am new small business S Corp and I recently received a seller's permit in 2022, but have yet to sell anything. (I have purchased products for resale, but haven't sold any yet).
