I am a lot like my mother. A tale of survival during Biafran War

In writing/telling this story, I didn’t realize the similarities between my Grandmother and I. I never met her, but It was a closure I wasn’t seeking. I started out want to talk about how lovely my mum is, how confident she is, and kind, but telling her story created another level of empathy for her.
People say you learn to appreciate more your mum when you have kids of your own, but I also think you can do that when you learn her story too. And you look upon her with so much kindness because you realize they are not the magnificent beings childhood you created. They are humans navigating life like you and I. I love you mummy 💛🤗
I made a pawpaw, grapefruit, and avocado salad because my mum eats clean. And it was only fitting to make something I know she’d eat :) #storytelling
