  • seattleunity.org-Rev. Karen Lindvig offers her sermon titled "Letting Go & Taking Hold." This sermon builds on the theme for 2014 called "Soul-Trek." The sub-theme in the month of March is Community and Making Room. Karen explores the purpose of Ash Wednesday with repentance and giving up something being important. She explores biblical and Star Trek references for respecting emotions as they are, emphasizing that tears are a form of release, and the stages of grief are part of a healing process.
Karen announced that the Seattle Unity Church beloved accountant, Gail Winsauer, has been diagnosed with a serious illness, and explored how the community at Seattle Unity could help.
Karen then focused on a new music video by Erin McGaughan which included Seattle Unity community members in its creation. She showed the music video and then congratulated Erin for her 10 years with Seattle Unity Church as its Music Director, with a touching ceremony.
Here is a link to that music video:

    1. Traditionally, Ash Wednesday is a time of letting go. In Unity, we invite you to let go of your limitations in order to take hold of the unlimited possibilities within you.
    2. Every moment is a practice in letting go and taking hold: inhale/exhale, hello/goodbye, fall asleep/wake up
    3. Emotions are not good or bad. They simply are.
