Unless they come back to Regina for a show and if they do. I will have to set up another charity photo shoot with them. I've met Scott twice and he is one hell of a nice guy and funny
I was lucky to get to see priest for the second time just a month ago, and Scott was insanely good as per usual. The whole band blows me away but as far as drummers go, Scott's one of the best.
Scott is an awesome drummer..!!! His work w Priest is nothing short of perfection. When u see them live, it's hard to take your eyes off him because he's stylistic. There's NOBODY sitting behind a kit that can could replace him. His double pedal is like thunder. And having his kit set up to play both left & right handed gives him advantages that are unparalleled. I've seen Priest 39 times live now. And twice on this 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour. I can not envision see them w/I Scott. He is the Metal God of drummers. .!!! Shout out to everybody in Judas Priest for their R-N-R Hall induction. Richie, you got robbed. You should be there too. ! And to Rob Halford... THE GREATEST VOICE IN ALL OF MUSIC...!!! And last but not least... metal Pilgrim. Great channel. Be safe brother. Keep the Faith.
Not only is he outstanding technically, but he really brings a lot to the band with his stage presence. The dude is like 10 feet tall, and his kit just dominates the stage. I never saw Les Binks - he was before my time, but I saw Dave Holland with Priest and in my opinion there's just no comparison. Holland looked like he was at work, whereas Scott looks like he's having fun. I'm a drummer, been playing for 40 years. What he's playing ain't easy, He just makes it look easy.
Leslie Binks was technically very slick. But the power that Scott Travis brings to the drumkit is something else. As for Dave Holland, I personally feel that he was punching well above his weight being in Judas Priest !! 😊
I saw them when they were supporting the “Redeemer of souls” album and they were phenomenal. I’m somewhat of an amateur drummer myself so when I attended at a live concert, I always pay attention to what the successful musicians do live on stage as much as it is possible during a professional gig with all the lights, smoke, stage choreography etc. Scott was beating like a Swiss watch, undistinguishable from the studio albums drum parts. Humble and nice guy, handsome, athletic, hardworking, and goddamn hellfire when he starts playing. Other drummers that leave me speechless in this regard are Tommy Aldridge and the former Gamma Ray drummer Daniel Zimmerman
Another great new "Accurate Isolated Track" video. I knew of Scott pre Priest. And I thought that he was going to be a huge step up for the band. It's awesome how long he's been with them and how much a big part of it all he is. And a big YES on a Scott Travis video.
Scott Travis is one of the Best in the Business of Rock 'n' Roll . I have met him, & bumped into him once or twice, and he also seems to be a really cool person ... . Long live Scott !
I played with Scott in the band HOOKER back in the 80's. He was that good then and an excellent business person. If you looked at his drum heads you would notice a very small spot where he hit. All around great guy. Still plays with his friend when he's home
Les was the fluid like water, Scott is rigid like steel. Both great but I agree, Les wrote the tastiest lines, and swung it with a human touch, and creative feel that was just the tastiest.
@@BornToShred6900 Les Binks played on "Stained class" and "Killing Machine" and also on the live output "Unleashed in the east". You possibly name this 2 1/2 albums ;-), but definitely not "one" ;-).
My favourite rock drummer. Everything he plays, every beat, every fill, is exactly what the song needs. Wish I could find a drummer like him; when I write a drum part, I try to imagine what he would play.
I’ve seen and felt his next-level drumming live many times with priest. Perhaps people are saying “too technical” because he’s so great that Priest songs are easy for him; it looks almost effortless. But that is true of any master of their craft ( Jimmy chamberlain, vai, yngwie, maxim vengeroff ). If you’re unsure about S.T., maybe listen to Racer X, plus Scott’s the nicest guy .
I live here in Virginia Beach VA and I've met Scott a few times since Norfolk is right beside VB and he is indeed a friendly down to earth bloke! Super drummer! A machine! We are proud of him here in Virginia!
Scott Travis is the best drummer Judas Priest has ever had and is a Mount Rushmore metal drummer. People who either don’t “get” drumming/music or are simply contrarians/elitists will say he “lacks feel” which… is both false, and ridiculous. He is technically gifted and stylistically brilliant. Les Binks is a close second to Scott Travis, another drummer with technical ability and finesse. Les, like Scott, was also very creative. Dave Holland was never terribly creative. He sat complacently under the music. It was enough with four juggernauts in the band, but Travis (and Binks) both elevated Priest, particularly Travis for the past 30+ years.
In late 1985 just before Scott moved from Virginia Beach to Los Angeles, he booked a friday night in a studio I was working at, Magic Traxx studio. I knew who he was then but, hadn't heard him play yet. He blew me away that night. He took that demo tape with him to LA. He really did just want to be the drummer for Judas Priest. The venue that he wanted to set up and play in the parking lot was Hampton Coliseum in Hampton Virginia on the Screaming for Vengeance tour. He really is that good and has been for a very long time. A few years later I was running sound for another band in the area Teasia, their drummer was Eddie Shultz. Scott and Eddie grew up together and learned to play drums together. It was amazing how similar their style of playing was. Scott is truly one of the greatest of all time and a thrill for me to work with him on that tape. \mXm/
I remember hearing Painkiller for the first time and said "It sounds like Priest, but Dave Holland isn't this fast. Either Priest got a new drummer or this is a different band" Such a memorable intro to Painkiller, he's F'in awesome 🤘😜.
Listen Ram it down live in 1988, its faster than anything on Painkiller. Metal meltown isn't that faster than Rapid fire or Exciter. Its just the compression of kicks and few divisions triplets that gave that impression.
I thought exactly the same thing the first time I heard Painkiller. Then I learned it was the same guy who used to be in Racer X. Scott is as a good a drummer as they come and fits perfectly in Priest.
Scott Travis grew up listening to Priest. And he pays homage to his predecessors by staying true to the songs they played on ,while doing his own thing with them.
he's one of the very, very best. different entirely to Dave Holland, and brings new life to Dave's drum parts. BTW, Diamond Head and Saxon were absolutely brilliant on Monday. We were sat right above Brian Tatler so could have a close up of his wizardry :-) I've posted some of the highlights from Saxon's set if you're interested (sorry for the advert - delete my post if it's not appropriate 🙂)
I was always a big Les Binks fan and I think they missed that technical playing when Les left. Scott just takes it to a whole new level. Lucky enough to have seen Les, Dave and Scott. Let’s not forget Scott’s Racer X days.

Scott is the Nicko McBrain of Judas Priest. The difference being that he came along later, and was younger. But he's exactly what they needed when they needed him, and he elevated the band.
dave holland started out great on his first couple records but towards the end of his time with priest it often looked like he was inches away from spontaneously combusting. scott always looks happy and chill.

She is as smooth and as flawless as Scott is when it comes to being a drummer. In asia, she is known as the princess of manyy strokes. Anyway, when Scott lived here in Norfolk, he played in several local bands, even while he was with Judas Priest to keep tuned up. The funny thing is that in the local groups he played with, most of the music he played would be considered classic rock. Scott and the bands he played with could pack the house, but unfortunately, the lead singer he had was using the microphone stand as a crutch to keep himself balaced to keep from falling off the stage due to all the alcohol he consumed in between sets. I can't remember the singer's name, but Scott always said that if he wasn't a drunk, his singer was one of the best singers and guitarists he had ever seen. One little known fact about Scott is that he, also, worked at the Mars music store in Virginia Beach while he was with Judas Priest. He helped a number of other drummers improve their skill levels.

Scott is of course extremely technical, but to me he lacks the feel. A bit like Tommy Aldridge that someone mentioned. One Priest drummer that had both the chops and the feel was of course Les Binks…
Having seen Les, Dave and Scott I kinda agree. Les was ahead of his time with the chops but he also had that old school feel. Les often gets forgotten. I get people to listen to Unleashed in the East. Phenomenal for 1978!
