    Thank you for this video Kenna!
    I exfoliated so much my barrier was so compromised.
    I had to really dial it back and tend to my skin in a more gentle way.
    Don’t take this wrong because I think she’s stunning…You kind of look like Rachel from Inventing Anna.

    Very happy to see you Kenna! I used to use this daily clearasil face wash/cleanser with these tiny little beads in them and it definitely left my skin feeling soft after the fact. But then, I saw the comment you made after the Bella Thorne face scrub video where she used sugar and how mentioned the granules actually produce micro tears in the skin. Have changed for years over to CeraVe face wash and my skin has never felt better. Thanks for all the advice you put out there! :)

    I was so guilty of #1, I used a clarisonic daily and I used to use it for twice the time, two cycles of the timer, it was terrible! Now I use NOTHING manual and instead TO 7% glycolic acid every other day, and tretinoin the other day. So happy with the results after having this regimen for 2yrs.

    I was waiting for a new video, because I'm not sure how long you check your comments, but I would really love a video reviewing lion and loki afterglow (all plant based oils) serum. Would it work and can it be mixed safely with other things like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, retinol, lactic acid, aha/bha, etc. They list the ingredients on their website. The product creator was a runner up on this season of joe millionaire (which just ended) and her skin is gorgeous. Relly curious about this product.

    I know I over use product. When I have/want to use a formulated product line I stick with that line. But most lines of product are over priced in my opinion I will lean towards individual actives with a regular moisturizer. I have several things I want to target so brands like the ordinary I rely upon. Not only for the ability to target certain concerns but I can alternate through the week. But lately a hot mess. I tried the snail mucas trend (i know the jury is still out on that as far as research & if its truly effective but I do see results. But its drying on my skin & I find before bed putting on she butter or a something with petroleum like Nivea so I can simply move my face. I have no clue if I am locking in the snail mucus or if negating the results). I exfoliate like twice a week & I personally like a light sludging effect when im not using a formulated line of skin care like Clinique. But clinique is nice, my skin likes it but im turning 45 & this is not the age to use just one thing. I have so much to fend off. Formulations don't give me the mental comfort of knowing that I am targeting something. I feel I can use hyaluronic acid & a face mist let it dry and add matryxl let it dry before using a product line OR when I alternate actives when using single ingredients as well. Is that assumption right? I have no clue. Whats your thoughts on snail mucus? I see what I think are results but it drying & I dont see results ( I think there is no long term effect, just a superficial effect that I only see when I use it). When im not using a line & alternating single "targeting ingredients" I use retinoids only at night bc its photosensitive aren't they? I know vitamin C is super unstable so I also use it at night (with just hyaluronic acid & a basic moisturizer. But I can use it in the day too? Isn't it photosensitive as well?
    Im a dumpster fire as far as knowing what to do anymore. Using a product line is great when I feel like throwing down $200.00 for it but in reality, I'd rather just alternate single ingredients certain days a week with a basic moisturizer. But its so complicated. Some individual active "marry" well together" & others cancel each other out. I do my research to try to avoid canceling out ingredients but... lately im a hot mess. Videos like this are so helpful but I feel like I'm all over the place. Im 44 ... don't have time to waste. I focus on diet but I need to know what individual actives compliment each other. I need skin cocktal recipes. Bc im not going to keep throwing down serious amounts of cash on product lines that have glycolic acid & a bunch of emollients & dimethacone.
    Skin cocktail recipies....that is a video I'd like to see you do.

    Could you pls do a video about peptides especially copper peptides - are they worth the hype? And is it really true that copper peptides cannot be combined with Vit c, retinoids plus a lot of other products - if yes, what will happen?

    So is it absolutely necessary to apply exfoliating toners with a cotton pad then in order to avoid putting too much (or is it possible to pour and pat in just the right amount directly on the skin of your face)?

    • @KennaWhitnell
      @KennaWhitnell 2 роки тому +2

      You can definitely pour into your palm and pat into the skin - I do this! Start with small amounts of course because most of the product will end up on your skin and not on a cotton round.

    So question. I finally got my skin under control from breakouts minus some small bumps/texture. I started low and slow with retinol to help with the bumps and some very light scarring. Now I’m starting to break out a bit… not a crazy amount or anything, just some little pimples but enough to make me nervous. Do you think I should just go back to the simple routine with just benzoyl peroxide or stick with retinol? (It’s been about 7-8 weeks) If you were in my situation when/what would make you decide retinol just doesn’t work for you? And I’m using the First aid beauty .25% retinol.
    I tried Differin almost 2 years ago and it destroyed my skin so I’m gun shy (not sure if it was just too strong right off the bat but it made my skin so terrible)
    Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated ❤️

      I love gycolic acid for my texture. I get little bumps on my forehead, not sure if it’s cause I’m oily or not. It really helps. I used to use the Mario Badescu Glycolic Gel. They have a toner and cleanser too

      Every single retinol product is formulated differently so if you think that one is causing some issues you can try something else. It is often the other ingredients in a product, and not the active ingredient itself that our skin doesn't agree with. Everyone is different! RoC Skincare has some really nice retinol products that are formulated well but super simple. For the bumps you might benefit from using an AHA product 2-3 times a week - of course not applied the same time as retinol

      @@KennaWhitnell Thank you Kenna for the advice. I appreciate you responding. I will certainly look into the Roc products! And I will pay more attention to the other ingredients more in the future. I never really considered that a whole lot.
      I just have to ask, do you think prescription retinoids are better then over the counter?
      Thanks again!

    Hi Kenna! If I’m using a copper peptide serum, I know I can’t go in with Vitamin A. But, what about an eye cream that has retinol in it?

    • @KennaWhitnell
      @KennaWhitnell 2 роки тому +1

      Retinol is a form of retinoid (all of which are forms of VItamin A). I would use these at altenating times. If you are only apply the copper peptide to your cheeks/ chin/ forehead and not on your eyes at all you might be ok with a retinol eye cream.

    Hi Kenna! I have a question: how to use salt in skincare? Google gives result that say to exfoliate with seasalt... Now that sounds like a bad idea. Do you have any DIY tips for using salt in treating acne?

    • @KennaWhitnell
      @KennaWhitnell 2 роки тому +1

      I wouldn't recommend using salt for acne! There are much better options out there. You can soak in the tub with some nice epsom salts but that is about it.

    What SPF would you recommended to someone who’s using a saliysic acid face wash for acne?

    • @cyrilshestakov3623
      @cyrilshestakov3623 2 роки тому

      Salicylic Acid has a ring structure that absorbs some UVB radiation. Because of that, Salicylic Acid does not make your skin sun-sensitive as much as AHAs do. So I guess, a minimum of SPF 30 is good.

    • @KennaWhitnell
      @KennaWhitnell 2 роки тому +1

      SPF 30 + broad spectrum and water resistant is what we are generally looking for in a good sunscreen :)
