To me yuji seems to be at the peak of special grade 1, narratively each special grade sorcerer is presented as a larger than life character & each of their scenes hold an impact that those below them just can't seem to replicate. Yuji is an incredibly strong combatant but it seems like he's reached a roadblock separating the special grades from the non special grades, what he's missing right now is likely just a cursed technique to call his own.

Yuji durability is definitely special grade. He took Mahito's blackflash without blocking in Shibuya and took Sukuna's punch without blocking. Even after sent across buildings, he still gets up like it's nothing.
While being able to survive a hit like Sukunas punch is impressive. Putting him in special grade durability territory seems off. In that same little fight Between Yuji/Maki v Sukuna. Sukuna lands a crazy right hook on Maki's face and she just flat out tanks it and keeps fighting. That's the durability of a special grade
Personally I believe that while Yuji may be strong and might be on a comparable enough level to hold his own with his special grade allies, I still think he has a long way to go until he can outright match and defeat the special grade sorcerers on the caliber of Yuta, Maki, Hakari and above. At the very best he’s only broken the surface of what it takes to be a special grade sorcerer. Yuji still has a long way to go!
Yeah, and I'm afraid that he'll be dead before that happens . But it isn't just Yuji. Remember Aoi Todo? He was also said to be special grade one day and now look what happened to him. He completely fell off the power curve that came with the culling game. All of the Kyoto schoolers are a pure and utter dissapointment. Though also Toge Inumaki.
So in terms of power 100% But he is lacking in a domain or any way to counter one, which is pretty major for fighting special grade curses, which is their main job. Then again Yuta was given special grade just for being Rika's host so idk.

I feel that once we see Yuji unlock and master his curse technique, he'll be considered a special grade by everyone in universe will all the feats he's currently accomplished throughout the story.

To me Yuji’s physical strength alone made him special grade. He just had the one critical disadvantage which was having no CT. Megumi stated Yuji could beat all the Tokyo students in traditional combat(using only physical strength). Todo said his raw power was greater than his own at the exchange event. That’s telling of how much CE is relied on in Jujutsu combat. It’s almost like how Asta’s physical strength overpowers 99% of the Clover Kingdom.
In the case of Yuji I see him as a mutant like Mikasa Ackerman from AoT. He is the newest, most advanced version of the death paintings. Which were made to be inhuman to break the barrier between humans and curses. Yuji was merely conceived like a normal baby. Asta due to having no magic at all dedicated his entire life to workout more than anyone else who refine their magic which has nothing to do with the body structures. Since missions of a magic knight are occasionally dangerous, Asta's durability makes up for having no traditional magic. I mean he withstood punches from the king of devils. And his devil union also enhances Asta's already inhuman physical prowess.
If you're talking about physical strength, Maki is 10x stronger than him right now. In both speed and power too. So no, he should not be special grade.

Itadori Yuji simply CANNOT be called a special grade sorcerer. Being a special grade sorcerer means that you are an anomaly and your strength is immeasurable. Satoru Gojo deserves to be called special grade because his powers involve manipulating time and space. Suguru Geto deserves to be called special grade because he can manipulate pretty much any cursed spirit which includes extremely powerful special grade curses. Tsukumo Yuki deserves to be called special grade because she can control her own mass to the extent that she can create a blackhole. Okkotsu Yuta deserves to be called special grade not only because he has the most cursed energy reserves among sorcerers in the modern era but also because of his ability to copy any ability or cursed technique (provided he fulfills the conditions of course). Just because you can defeat special grade curses, it does not equal to you being a special grade sorcerer. There are also plenty of other grade 1 sorcerers capable of fighting special grade curses. That is why Itadori Yuji doesn't have anything special to him, all he has in his arsenal is close combat. And he's not unique in that, Maki also has immense superhuman capabilities (arguably better than Itadori's even). No matter how excellent his close combat techniques is... Unless his strength is like Saitama's. He just CANNOT be called special grade.
The only thing keeping Yuji behind other special grades, is not having a cursed technique. His durability is insane, even compared to Yuta and Maki. His strenght is below Maki, but still can one shot any grade 1 curses and keep Special grades at bay. I would keep him in Grade 1, only to due him having no defenses against Domain expansion.
I think an important fact you skipped over when discussing Yuta vs Yuji is that yuta himself even thought yuji held back in that fight because he thought he didn’t deserve to live, which further supports your claim of yuji being relative to base yuta
Yeah. Honestly, Yuji's nature of self blame is arguably what holds him back the most. When he's genuinely determined to fight, he can fight toe to toe with people who he has no business taking on. It was the same with the Lawyer, and I think we hadn't seen him go all out in a good while; fighting Sakuna and the special forces is the first time in a long time that we've seen him fight without reservation. When he's determined? He probably could fight and tank a lot of foes. I think his main issue is he's often compared with seasoned characters who are arguably more seasoned and determined. Maki, since slaying her clan is a complete physical powerhouse who boasts better physical feats and matchups then him. Yuta likewise had a series where he completely dominated several really strong threats. They have a general super human baseline (either due to just being strong, or cursed energy), then a specialisation on top of that. I kinda feel that Yuji hasn't found that yet, yet despite "just" being a bruiser without a specialisation? He's actually really strong for someone as inexperienced as him, he was not raised within this world.
Well Yuji has gotten stronger since losing Sukuna since he gain a Curse technique and it is implied that he ate the Death Paintings which gave him another massive amp to his power.

You're crazy if you're trying to scale Yuji to Yuta based off of that fight. In the Sendai colony Yuta fought 3 special grade sorcerers by himself with low to mid difficulty. Yuji is not scaling to either of Yuta's 3 opponents. Trying to scale him to Yuji when he was clearly holding back is ridiculous. This man didn't even use his cursed technique, or rikka. both of which are substantial reasons as to why Yuta is considered special grade to begin with.

One thing that I didn’t have time to change is that it’s actually possible that Yuji didn’t fight a domain amped Higurama because he was not in his domain anymore at the time. EDIT: My objective of the video was to discuss Yuji's STATS (AP, Speed, etc.) scaling to Special Grade Level. I thought this was clear going into the video, but it seems this is one of the things people seem adamant about disagreeing on. Which I should have been more clear on in retrospect. In my opinion, Yuji has at least Special Grade 1 stats or low-end Special Grade stats as outlined in the video. Of course, not using a CT or DE limits him within the verse. But once he gets them he should be overall Special Grade level IMO. There were a lot of things that I wanted to change/add in the video but unfortunately my Tendinitis limited what I could do :)
I think this is a highball, it was implied yutas katana made him slower and maki said she was slowing down to combo with yuji. And to say yuji is relative to a special grade cause he barely kept up in physical stats, HIS MAIN THING is weird. And even though their actual CT would be accounted in that rankings you ignored that aspect. Yuta wasnt going all out since he never used his cursed technique.
The issue is that when Maki went full power Yuji was able to keep up with her. Meaning that he is still relative to her full power, and it means that Maki wasn't even holding back that much. ??? He literally didn't barely keep up with Yuta lol. This is actually a good point. But, I still said this was a Yuta not going full power. I interpret that Base Yuta is Special Grade, but when he merges power with Rika it's even higher. But I understand if you see it differently.

I have always been under the assumption that the main requirement for special grade was having the ability to control and unlimited amount of something. Geto has unlimited cursed spirits, Gojo unlimited CE, Yuki unlimited mass, Yuta unlimited CT. This is why I would say Hakari would also be special grade with his domain. This would work in the opposite sense for Heavenly Restriction users. Once we see Yuji's CT we will finally know if he can be special grade. Also grade one sorcerers are supposed to be able to take care of special grades curses. Special grade sorcerers are supposed to easily be able to.
This explanation makes further sense when taking principal Yaga into account who was stated to be an unregistered special grade because of his ability to make an unlimited amount of autonomous puppets
Yuji having access to yukis soul book puts him above many people. Besides soul swap, he could have learned how to intentionally damage souls through curse techniques or from a basic punch. He could have learned to turn sorcerers into curse objects. Soul type abilities in the verse are so hax.

His C.E control, output is all top tier if you ask me and he's just a brawler comparable to maki with H.R. all he needs is his own domain or anti domain
Domain expansion is a very complicated form of jujutsu sorcery. Even if Yuji's curse energy control has gotten better I don't think he's a type of type to preform a peak technique like this. A simple domain at best to keep him safe. I can see that Yuji will inherit the techniques from the death paintings he's eating and use them all at once.
@adrianjones6103 my hope is yuji uses his knowledge of binding vows (given how one basically set everything in current motion) and makes a domain around binding vows. Example being his domain takes away C.Ts and its straight fists, both him and his opponent get a physical amp and it'd be down to who's better brawler and 98% of the time it'd be yuji
@@crimmycat117this is a GREAT concept. If it could be a barrier less domain that that has no true form, and just is a binding vow that both brawl to the death with an equivalent amp and no CT. As long as Yuji is one of the fastest at activating in the verse (he could make a restriction/vow that amps this). JJK and cursed energy is a ‘fair system’. You could make an insanely fast, CT neutralizing open domain as long as it’s ‘fair’. A way to make it fair is that the sure hit effect isnt an instant death, and gives the combatant an amp for being involved in it. He would be immensely favored because of his durability and physical strength. Also I believe black flash is technically not a CT which he’s basically going to be the best in the verse at.
@deadprecidents black flash isnt a C.T. it means stuff like RCT would still work but anti barrier techniques would be useless since the sure hit isn't even lethal, kinda like the info dump from hakaris domain. The amp could be a C.E multiplier due to the restriction of a C.T which means you can still use C.E. hence the amp on both sides
It's clear based on his raw physical strength and durability + his capability as a vessel for not just Sukuna but (possibly) other curses/death paintings/etc. that Yuji has special grade potential. That said, it's clear he still has a ways to go. While Yuji definitely scales to quite a few of the special grade curses in the series (not accepting Mahito as an answer here Yuji loses that fight badly without Todo, especially in his current form without Sukuna inside), special grade sorcerers are a completely different story. Also, I think you're underestimating the power it'd take to overthrow a country. While Yuji certainly has the durability and strength to fight against an army, it's not necessarily guaranteed that he'd have the power to take them all out before it eventually starts to wear him down. Characters like Yuta, Gojo, Yuki, Geto, etc. can all manipulate CE in a way that could wipe out these armies in a fairly short period of time - whereas Yuji would have to take them on with just his hands. He's also currently incapable of using RCT and doesn't truly grasp how to reinforce parts of his body with CE in order to strengthen them. I understand it may seem like a simple feat, but there's a reason even Hakari isn't considered special grade... it's not nearly as easy as you're making it out to be.
Agreed.. The thought that Yuji could take over an entire nation with just punches and kicks is absurd.. Sure he is worlds more powerful than any single soldier but to think he could punch-kick his way through a navy, air force and army is ridiculous when it’s been shown that a handgun bullet would kill a sorcerer

Yuji isnt relative to any of them and he has shown little to no progress besides a general strength upgrade when he was mad and that still irrelevant. They were literally still laughing at Yuji at his strongest bc he is a non-threat to actual special grades. A lot of the information in this video is just plain wrong.. Yuta even lost his special grade title while he didn't have Rika lmao, so I don't see how you could even treat base Yuta as special grade

16:13 the Special grades are side by side because as there isn't anything above them, they are the ceiling. Something in One punch man, the A class heroes don't have a big gap in power between themselves, but since S class is the ceiling, the difference between the weakest S class, and the strongest S class is huge.
If I remember correctly, Yuji got a promotion to 1st Grade Sorcerer just a few months leaving his normal school life, so he's tapping on Special Grade by the time he gets to Shibuya. Once the story finishes, he will fulfill what Gojo envisioned for him. Surpassing Special Grade.
yuji became semi grade 1 (along with megumi, nobara, maki and panda iirc) after todo and mei mei recommended them, but wouldve had to complete grade 1 level missions to qualify as a full grade one. but then shibuya happened and 1) yuji never got to do the missions, 2) his execution was expedited and he's now officially dead, only alive because the higher ups didnt know yuta could use RCT, if he survives the final battle and jujutsu society doesnt try to kill him again (more likely now that he isnt sukuna's vessel) he could get the promotion but realistically whats the point
Yuji is pretty much an anomaly when it comes to pure strength and even durability because he is doing all of that with potentially no Heavenly Restriction which is crazy to me😂

i think he's strong enough to fight a special grade and he's as strong as a special grade, but he's just missing what he would need to be a special grade, because of his monstrous close combat abilities and strength, all he needs is a cursed technique or maybe even just RCT
Special grade means you can destroy a country all on Your own own. Yuji can maybe take over a city if he REALLY tries. Yuji fails at being a special grade on that merit alone.
Easy special grade , he defeated Mahito ... and Mahito which evolved not base which was FAR above any Grade 1 Sorcerer already. He threw hands with 100% (not 10% it was Cursed Energy only output) 15F Sukuna and Sukuna was even impressed . He took punch from 15F Sukuna stood up like it wasnt big deal and came back for more. And many more stuff. Yuji is straightforwad insane and he did all that without CT ... now he got CTs after eating cursed objects. So he may aswell be one of strongest Special grades - but its pure speculation for all we know - those techniques of his must be shown. I predict he is above like of Yuki, Kenjaku or even Yuta. Hope he will have his own Domain Expansion.
While Yuji has developed a fairly better flow for his curse energy I still don't know if he is skilled enough to actually use a domain expansion. It is the peak of jujutsu sorcery so not everyone can learn it. But he could have at least a simple domain just to keep him save. At best I wish that consuming the death paintings that grant Yuji various curse tequnices he can use all at once. Kind of like one for all in MHA.

Yuii learns faster than anyone including Megumi and arguably Gojo / Sukuna because they use CT for years and he for months ... Sure he is still surprised by Gojo / Sukuna moves , but they have years of years advantage over him in experince with CE. Yeah Yuji is ultimate counter to Mahoraga adaptation if he can use different CTs then Dharma wheel adapts to next and is effectively useless. When you think about that its insane. What I'm leading to if it comes to Yuji vs Sukuna it will be way different than vs Gojo where Sukuna had intel and viable tactic . Yuji will absolutelly laugh off Dharma wheel, have countermeasures to Dismantle/Cleave forcing Sukuna to fully reveal his hand.
I won't downplay the Sukuna feat because it was still impressive, but Sukuna uses his CE in order to amplify his punches (as do most sorcerers in the series) - I don't think Yuji would be able to trade hands with 15F Sukuna after he had suppressed Megumi's soul and regained 100% CE output. That said, tanking a hit and continuous cleaves from even a suppressed Sukuna is still solid.
@@simonwolfey Yuji himself was weakened as Sukuna punched him through buildings and he could at least withstand the wave of cleaves Sukuna threw at him. A fully health Yuji is close to a awakened Maki at the very least. Combined with his new CT Yuji will send his next opponent flying. Yuji most notebly can threw inhuman punches without CE. When he summoned multiple black flashes at will he send Mahito flying to a point where he had to flee
What I find great about both Jujutsu Kaisen and Black Clover is that you don't have to be part of a famous lineage to be sorted into something "special" graded. Sometimes anomalies appear in distant regions of the world. I'm talking about: Yuji, Hakari, Geto, Yuki, principal Yaga and Shoko Also: Asta, Rades, Luck, Charmy, Vanessa, Zora, Dorothy and Grey And even if you are from a praised family doesn't mean you automatically meet the strength other people thought you would have. Like: Toge, Naobito, Naoya, Ogi and (present) Noritoshi Kamo Or: Fuegoleon, Leopold, Solid, Nebra and Augustus

There are weird technicalities within the grading system that show it really is mostly an umbrella term for strength rather than one set in stone. Since Yuuta and Yuuji are both exceptions in their own right, one being a vessel and the other being in control of rika, grading them with regular jujutsu sorcerers doesn't work. "Special grade" means special strength compared to other grade 1 sorcerers. I think special grade is defined differently for exceptions to the rule. For instance, Yuuta automatically got special grade from JJK0 but after losing Rika he was demoted back to a regular sorcerer. Since Yuuji is sukuna's vessel (sukuna ofc being a special grade+ cursed spirit) the same would apply to him until he stops becoming a vessel or reaches the normal definition of "special grade". Normal special grade without an innately broken technique like limitless and infinity would mean the mastery of domain expansion. If we look back to earlier in the series where Nanami was fighting Mahito before the goodwill event, he got caught into Mahito's domain expansion and said it was something he couldn't master. Assuming cursed spirits of the highest level have access to domain expansion, those of special grade should be able to have a domain expansion or some way to evade/escape the domain. In short, special grade has 2 definitions, one for exceptional sorcerers that start there and for those that don't. Domain expansion is a requirement for promotion to special grade if the curse user went from grade 4 -> grade 1. This of course being a baseline to being considered special grade. In terms of strength, Yuuji is above the floor power scaling of "special grade" as the top of special grade is sukuna/gojo level.
In terms of hand to hand combat I’d say yuji is special grade similar to Maki and Toji, They have the stats for it but not the stopping power or Hax to take on an entire country, that might change come his next fight tho, when we see what he can do with that new soul manipulating technique.

Right now I don't think he scales to Special Grade (in traditional terms), but that doesn't make him weak when you consider how he's only been a sorcerer for not even a full year, yet he's progressed so much in such a small time frame compared to everyone else who's had years of experience, even Yuta who's been around for almost 2 years. Yuji may seem out of reach with the likes of Gojo and Sukuna, but he has the highest potential out of everyone in the series thus far, and he is not someone who should be taken lightly
People forget that Yuji scales similar to Maki in physical prowess, and that would mean that he also scales to Toji in the same area. So Yuji is basically a sorcerer that has the body of someone with a Heavenly Pact while also keeping curse energy. He can punch as hard as Toji Zenin at 120% and on top of that he can use Black Flash. That would hurt.

Yuji doesn’t have the power to over take an entire country. A stray bullet can pierce his skull and he’ll be dead. He doesn’t even have a domain or ways to fend off it. Even so he’s definitely a supreme grade 1 because he was able to beat magi to to a pulp at his full power and mahito was by far a very formidable special grade curse who was practically a genius.

Good vid. Only thing I disagree with is the Yuta scaling. Since we know the ending, we know the Yuta was simply trying to do two things. Complete his task of killing Yuji due to the binding vow and then revive him. Yuta as we know must infuse his cursed energy to become strong physically. Of course he had utilize said energy to fight but I see it as Yuta doing the bare minimum with it... Sukuna as we saw kinda knew what the situation was leads me to believe even further Yuta was just so much above him. Of course I know you believe Yuta is stronger but personally I can't give Yuji any points in that scuffle 😅

a cursed technique is apparently 80% of a sorcerers power. Yuji is at such a severe disadvantage and is this strong, with a cursed technique he would no doubt be special grade
Rn, I believe Yuji to be peak grade 1. He’s a Jujutsu prodigy without a cursed technique. The only reason I don’t consider him special grade is that the 4 current official special grades would stomp him. There’s still a gap. And non-official special grade sorcerers like Kashimo and Hakari would still beat him in battle. Give Yuji a technique and just a bit more training, and I see him scaling to Geto (pre-kenjaku)

I believe he’s currently special grade one due to his insane durability and physical stats, but his lack of any cursed techniques or special abilities holds him back from being special grade.
What I'd like to point out is that while Yuji may scale to the POWER of a baseline special grade, he has nowhere near the hax needed to be there. All he has so far is Black Flash and poison res, which means he'd still be a corpse floating in the water if Maki pulled out any one of her special grade cursed tools.
Yuta wasn’t trying, and it wasn’t going to be a close fight. If it was going to be a hard fight yuji would’ve been at least able to fight off rika any special grade i can think of would have. Comparatively how yuta was fighting uro and ryo compared to yuji it shouldn’t even be a question he was holding back.

Itadori Yuji simply CANNOT be called a special grade sorcerer. Being a special grade sorcerer means that you are an anomaly and your strength is immeasurable. Satoru Gojo deserves to be called special grade because his powers involve manipulating time and space. Suguru Geto deserves to be called special grade because he can manipulate pretty much any cursed spirit which includes extremely powerful special grade curses. Tsukumo Yuki deserves to be called special grade because she can control her own mass to the extent that she can create a blackhole. Okkotsu Yuta deserves to be called special grade not only because he has the most cursed energy reserves among sorcerers in the modern era but also because of his ability to copy any ability or cursed technique (provided he fulfills the conditions of course). Just because you can defeat special grade curses, it does not equal to you being a special grade sorcerer. There are also plenty of other grade 1 sorcerers capable of fighting special grade curses. That is why Itadori Yuji doesn't have anything special to him, all he has in his arsenal is close combat. And he's not unique in that, Maki also has immense superhuman capabilities (arguably better than Itadori's even). No matter how excellent his close combat techniques is... In chapter 203 Kenjaku says that being special grade means you have the power to overthrow nations. I love Yuji, but he's not overthrowing any nations at this point in the story.
Special grade 1. Yuji is definitely slept on in terms of his strength I think because he has a minor case of the Jogo effect where half his fights are with the very top tier characters. Really excited for his development when he finally gets a CT and DE.
I think people really mistake the meaning of a special grade. It’s not about the power they possess it’s about the scope of the power. Yuji with these hands physically couldn’t destroy all of Japan. Todo, maki, panda, hakari… they can’t physically wipe out a nation. The special grades are labelled as such not because they’ve reached a level that no one else could but because of the potential scope of their powers. Yuta is special grade because rika could level a city easily. Gojo is special grade because his technique carves chunks of the earth out on its way to its target and beyond. Geto is special grade because he can amass literally armies of curses to kill millions if he wanted to. Special grade isn’t something you achieve it’s a burden.
It's also important to note that Yuji can use black flash and Maki can't. So Yuji would lose against Maki unless he lands a few Black Flashes, and then it would even out more

His physical durability and his raw power are top notch,but the main issue is that he doesnt have anything to overcome a domain so i put him in grade1. He has a long way to go and as gojo himself said yuji will be on par with him, so we still have to wait.

The writer implies that if gojo fails that Hikari ,yuta , and Maki are pretty much their last cards and yuji not mentioned so I dont exactly think he scales to Maki.
That's contradicted by actual feats. This would just mean that Maki is just barely enough to be a card and Yuji, who scales lower but relative isn't seen as one.

Yuji is definitely one of the strongest special grade 1 sorcerers, with his only drawback being the lack of curse techniques and a domain expansion. If anything, this all serves to show how impressive Yuji is physically. He's able to take on and beat special grade curses and even briefly contend with people like Yuta by simply "punching and kicking" really well.
I feel like saying hes relative to yuta is kind of a stretch cause yuta didnt want to kill yuji and made it very clear after the fight if hed wanted to he could have used his cursed speech made yuji stop moving and instantly killed him and every other special grade are just way above yuji saying he should be considered for promotion is kinda weird when every special grade sorceror can low diff him
Yuji is nothing compared to transformed Mahito, Mahito if he wasnt hurt would've one shot him. Lets stop using that comparison please. Domain expansions only amp while in the domain. Yuji still doesnt scale above transformed mahito in any sense. In a purely physical fight Maki wipes the floor with Yuji. Maki/Toji are stated even above Gojo and Sukuna when it comes to a pure physical fight.

A black flash or 2 from Yuji is his best chance of pulling things to his side. But as as soon as maki uses her Sword its over of Yuji. If you ment Pure H2H Maki is a close fight with Yuji i still disagree a bit with that, but i can 100% understand why that might be.
I actually came into the video fully disagreeing with this but I leave with one thought. If Yuji ever gets a CT he 100% becomes a special grade sorcerer. I think that while his current strength is extremely impressive hes being held back by his lack of Jujutsu. If anything I agree with Gojos idea of Yuji being outside of the grade system altogether just like Maki and Toji Zenin.
Physically and potentially Yuji might be a special grade BUT without his own unique curse techniques and very straight forward fighting style, he is without a doubt for me a grade 1, and his raw physical skills carries it hard, but it can only go so far I mean just look at Sukuna and Gojo fight, and how adaptive and versatile their mastery over combat and curse technique, and they keep evolving mid fight Yuji are desperately lacking those unique ability and deeper knowledge on curse technique, we know that Yuji can evolve fast mid fight, but without basic knowledge that he can hold on to, I don't think Yuji will go far, I mean look how fast Yuji evolve when Todo gives him some pointers, corrected Yuji flaws and gives basic curse understanding, he evolve at incredible speed

We know per Mei Mei that there are limits to how much you can amp your physicals with cursed energy, and we honestly dont have any real indication that Sukunas speed massively increases with each finger he obtained. I disagree with your assessment over Kenjaku's statement about Special Grades requiring to be able to topple nations being unimpressive. It is simply the bare minimum and while I do agree with your scaling, Yuji alone cannot take on an entire country's armed forces. Yuji's higher end feats are also only possible upon black flash and specific circumstances but even then, he would still end up being exhausted after fighting an entire nation's worth of armed forces. Compare that with other Special Grades, like Teen Gojo, Teen Geto, Volume 0 Yuta, and Yuji and you can definitely see a stark difference. Gojo can repeatedly summon invisible forces to stop incoming attack and throw armed forces around without a second thought, Geto has an army of invisible monsters, Yuta has an unstoppable invisible monster that has infinite cursed energy protecting him 24/7, and Yuki can summon black holes. The 4 Special Grade Shamans show something most of the cast do not have and it's the ability to consistently threaten a nation's strength. This is what separates Hakari and Yuta if we are discussing their title alone. Hakari would need to keep refreshing his domain against an army and while he can certainly keep it up for a long time and he is definitely powerful, he falls short in consistency.
I keep imagine Yujis new ability is gonna be soul exchange or something along those lines and he’s gonna use it to bring back a weakened Sukuna into his body and then probably have someone kill him
tbf on the sukuna nerf translation, i do think it was overall cursed energy output why? because sukuna had zero problems blocking maki and yuji when they try to go even faster than before but when attacking, he suddenly gets hit by both and when u think toji is compared to 3F sukuna by megumi a 1.5F-2F sukuna is definetly special grade sorcerer level(albeit a low-mid level)
Yuji’s strongest asset is his physical abilities but that isn’t enough to make someone special grade (unless it’s to the extreme in maki/Toji’s case). Yuji lacks to his own CT(from what we know) and his own Ce pool and just his overall control of it just isn’t on par with a lot of the top tier sorcerers. Another thing is every special grade sorcerer has abilities that sets them apart from everyone. Gojo with limitless, Yuki mass manipulation, Yuta with immense Ce and copy, and Geto(Kenjaku) with shear numbers and special grade curses . Even tho I consider maki and Toji special grade sorcerers even they are on the lower end of the scale. Yuji is at the top of grade 1 but the gap between a grade 1 sorcerer and special grade is massive
If Maki and Hakari are not ranked Special Grade, I don't see how he could be graded as Special Grade. Yaga Masamichi was granted Special Grade before his execution because he was under suspicion of knowingly created fully autonomous Cursed Corpses. Yuji is unkillable but he has no means to destroy single country by himself.
I mean the only non Japanese sorcerer we see is miguel. And we know that yuta studied in west Africa so far these are the only two places we know for a fact that have are strong sorcerers. They haven't even mentioned sorcerers from any where else. I know it's a big deal just commenting for the algo
Just realized something, we now know that binding vow techniques within simple domains are possible. Likewise the finger bearer had a domain but no technique ingrained in it. This means you dont need an innate technique for a domain, and in theory could apply a binding vow instead similar to a Simple Domain. So imagine Yuji applying some sort of binding vow into his DE that reduces his opponents technique ability or CT in general making the fight a physical cursed energy fight
Its important to mention in the Jujutsu world being special grade also correlates towards your ability's power to take over a nation, Suguru Geto was Special grade because he could create an army even though he was powerful and strong on his own as well as Principle Yaga also being up for discussion due to his ability to create an army. Yuji doesnt have a cursed technique that could give him the power to wipe out a country right now so being at the top of special grade 1 makes sense. Yuki could technically destroy the planet with a blackhole pushing her as a special grade threat as well. Yuta being a copy cat who can have unlimited cursed energy potential probably pushes him towards the potential of conquering a nation as well

To me yuji seems to be at the peak of special grade 1, narratively each special grade sorcerer is presented as a larger than life character & each of their scenes hold an impact that those below them just can't seem to replicate. Yuji is an incredibly strong combatant but it seems like he's reached a roadblock separating the special grades from the non special grades, what he's missing right now is likely just a cursed technique to call his own.

Yuji durability is definitely special grade.
He took Mahito's blackflash without blocking in Shibuya and took Sukuna's punch without blocking. Even after sent across buildings, he still gets up like it's nothing.
i wouldnt say taking damage from a special grade makes you qualified to be a special grade. In both of those fights you mentioned - yuji needed help.

While being able to survive a hit like Sukunas punch is impressive. Putting him in special grade durability territory seems off. In that same little fight Between Yuji/Maki v Sukuna. Sukuna lands a crazy right hook on Maki's face and she just flat out tanks it and keeps fighting. That's the durability of a special grade
Personally I believe that while Yuji may be strong and might be on a comparable enough level to hold his own with his special grade allies, I still think he has a long way to go until he can outright match and defeat the special grade sorcerers on the caliber of Yuta, Maki, Hakari and above. To me Yuji’s physical strength alone made him special grade. He just had the one critical disadvantage which was having no CT. Megumi stated Yuji could beat all the Tokyo students in traditional combat(using only physical strength). Todo said his raw power was greater than his own at the exchange event. That’s telling of how much CE is relied on in Jujutsu combat. It’s almost like how Asta’s physical strength overpowers 99% of the Clover Kingdom.
In the case of Yuji I see him as a mutant like Mikasa Ackerman from AoT. He is the newest, most advanced version of the death paintings. Which were made to be inhuman to break the barrier between humans and curses. Yuji was merely conceived like a normal baby. Asta due to having no magic at all dedicated his entire life to workout more than anyone else who refine their magic which has nothing to do with the body structures. Since missions of a magic knight are occasionally dangerous, Asta's durability makes up for having no traditional magic. I mean he withstood punches from the king of devils. And his devil union also enhances Asta's already inhuman physical prowess.
If you're talking about physical strength, Maki is 10x stronger than him right now. In both speed and power too. So no, he should not be special grade.

The only thing keeping Yuji behind other special grades, is not having a cursed technique. His durability is insane, even compared to Yuta and Maki. His strenght is below Maki, but still can one shot any grade 1 curses and keep Special grades at bay.

Yeah. Honestly, Yuji's nature of self blame is arguably what holds him back the most. When he's genuinely determined to fight, he can fight toe to toe with people who he has no business taking on. It was the same with the Lawyer, and I think we hadn't seen him go all out in a good while; fighting Sakuna and the special forces is the first time in a long time that we've seen him fight without reservation. I think his main issue is he's often compared with seasoned characters who are arguably more seasoned and determined. Maki, since slaying her clan is a complete physical powerhouse who boasts better physical feats and matchups then him. Yuta likewise had a series where he completely dominated several really strong threats. They have a general super human baseline (either due to just being strong, or cursed energy), then a specialisation on top of that. I kinda feel that Yuji hasn't found that yet, yet despite "just" being a bruiser without a specialisation? He's actually really strong for someone as inexperienced as him, he was not raised within this world.

Well Yuji has gotten stronger since losing Sukuna since he gain a Curse technique and it is implied that he ate the Death Paintings which gave him another massive amp to his power.
The death paintings could give Yuji multiple curse tequnices. Maybe even a barrier or a domain expansion.

You're crazy if you're trying to scale Yuji to Yuta based off of that fight. In the Sendai colony Yuta fought 3 special grade sorcerers by himself with low to mid difficulty. Yuji is not scaling to either of Yuta's 3 opponents.
Trying to scale him to Yuji when he was clearly holding back is ridiculous. This man didn't even use his cursed technique, or rikka. both of which are substantial reasons as to why Yuta is considered special grade to begin with.

My objective of the video was to discuss Yuji's STATS (AP, Speed, etc.) scaling to Special Grade Level. I thought this was clear going into the video, but it seems this is one of the things people seem adamant about disagreeing on. Which I should have been more clear on in retrospect. In my opinion, Yuji has at least Special Grade 1 stats or low-end Special Grade stats as outlined in the video. Of course, not using a CT or DE limits him within the verse. But once he gets them he should be overall Special Grade level IMO. There were a lot of things that I wanted to change/add in the video but unfortunately my Tendinitis limited what I could do :)

The issue is that when Maki went full power Yuji was able to keep up with her. Meaning that he is still relative to her full power, and it means that Maki wasn't even holding back that much.

I have always been under the assumption that the main requirement for special grade was having the ability to control and unlimited amount of something. Geto has unlimited cursed spirits, Gojo unlimited CE, Yuki unlimited mass, Yuta unlimited CT. This is why I would say Hakari would also be special grade with his domain. This would work in the opposite sense for Heavenly Restriction users. Once we see Yuji's CT we will finally know if he can be special grade. Also grade one sorcerers are supposed to be able to take care of special grades curses. Special grade sorcerers are supposed to easily be able to.

Yuji having access to yukis soul book puts him above many people. Besides soul swap, he could have learned how to intentionally damage souls through curse techniques or from a basic punch. He could have learned to turn sorcerers into curse objects. Soul type abilities in the verse are so hax.

Domain expansion is a very complicated form of jujutsu sorcery. Even if Yuji's curse energy control has gotten better I don't think he's a type of type to preform a peak technique like this. A simple domain at best to keep him safe. I can see that Yuji will inherit the techniques from the death paintings he's eating and use them all at once.
@adrianjones6103 my hope is yuji uses his knowledge of binding vows (given how one basically set everything in current motion) and makes a domain around binding vows. Example being his domain takes away C.Ts and its straight fists, both him and his opponent get a physical amp and it'd be down to who's better brawler and 98% of the time it'd be yuji

As long as Yuji is one of the fastest at activating in the verse (he could make a restriction/vow that amps this). JJK and cursed energy is a ‘fair system’. You could make an insanely fast, CT neutralizing open domain as long as it’s ‘fair’. A way to make it fair is that the sure hit effect isnt an instant death, and gives the combatant an amp for being involved in it. He would be immensely favored because of his durability and physical strength. Also I believe black flash is technically not a CT which he’s basically going to be the best in the verse at.

The amp could be a C.E multiplier due to the restriction of a C.T which means you can still use C.E. hence the amp on both sides
It's clear based on his raw physical strength and durability + his capability as a vessel for not just Sukuna but (possibly) other curses/death paintings/etc. that Yuji has special grade potential. That said, it's clear he still has a ways to go. While Yuji definitely scales to quite a few of the special grade curses in the series (not accepting Mahito as an answer here Yuji loses that fight badly without Todo, especially in his current form without Sukuna inside), special grade sorcerers are a completely different story.
Also, I think you're underestimating the power it'd take to overthrow a country. While Yuji certainly has the durability and strength to fight against an army, it's not necessarily guaranteed that he'd have the power to take them all out before it eventually starts to wear him down. Characters like Yuta, Gojo, Yuki, Geto, etc. can all manipulate CE in a way that could wipe out these armies in a fairly short period of time - whereas Yuji would have to take them on with just his hands. He's also currently incapable of using RCT and doesn't truly grasp how to reinforce parts of his body with CE in order to strengthen them. I understand it may seem like a simple feat, but there's a reason even Hakari isn't considered special grade... it's not nearly as easy as you're making it out to be.

yuji became semi grade 1 (along with megumi, nobara, maki and panda iirc) after todo and mei mei recommended them, but wouldve had to complete grade 1 level missions to qualify as a full grade one. but then shibuya happened and 1) yuji never got to do the missions, 2) his execution was expedited and he's now officially dead, only alive because the higher ups didnt know yuta could use RCT, if he survives the final battle and jujutsu society doesnt try to kill him again (more likely now that he isnt sukuna's vessel) he could get the promotion but realistically whats the point

While Yuji has developed a fairly better flow for his curse energy I still don't know if he is skilled enough to actually use a domain expansion. It is the peak of jujutsu sorcery so not everyone can learn it. But he could have at least a simple domain just to keep him save. At best I wish that consuming the death paintings that grant Yuji various curse tequnices he can use all at once. Kind of like one for all in MHA.

I won't downplay the Sukuna feat because it was still impressive, but Sukuna uses his CE in order to amplify his punches (as do most sorcerers in the series) - I don't think Yuji would be able to trade hands with 15F Sukuna after he had suppressed Megumi's soul and regained 100% CE output. That said, tanking a hit and continuous cleaves from even a suppressed Sukuna is still solid.

A fully health Yuji is close to a awakened Maki at the very least. Combined with his new CT Yuji will send his next opponent flying. Yuji most notebly can threw inhuman punches without CE. When he summoned multiple black flashes at will he send Mahito flying to a point where he had to flee
What I find great about both Jujutsu Kaisen and Black Clover is that you don't have to be part of a famous lineage to be sorted into something "special" graded. Sometimes anomalies appear in distant regions of the world.
I'm talking about: Yuji, Hakari, Geto, Yuki, principal Yaga and Shoko
Also: Asta, Rades, Luck, Charmy, Vanessa, Zora, Dorothy and Grey
And even if you are from a praised family doesn't mean you automatically meet the strength other people thought you would have.

There are weird technicalities within the grading system that show it really is mostly an umbrella term for strength rather than one set in stone. Since Yuuta and Yuuji are both exceptions in their own right, one being a vessel and the other being in control of rika, grading them with regular jujutsu sorcerers doesn't work. "Special grade" means special strength compared to other grade 1 sorcerers. I think special grade is defined differently for exceptions to the rule. For instance, Yuuta automatically got special grade from JJK0 but after losing Rika he was demoted back to a regular sorcerer. Since Yuuji is sukuna's vessel (sukuna ofc being a special grade+ cursed spirit) the same would apply to him until he stops becoming a vessel or reaches the normal definition of "special grade". Normal special grade without an innately broken technique like limitless and infinity would mean the mastery of domain expansion. If we look back to earlier in the series where Nanami was fighting Mahito before the goodwill event, he got caught into Mahito's domain expansion and said it was something he couldn't master. Assuming cursed spirits of the highest level have access to domain expansion, those of special grade should be able to have a domain expansion or some way to evade/escape the domain.
In short, special grade has 2 definitions, one for exceptional sorcerers that start there and for those that don't. Domain expansion is a requirement for promotion to special grade if the curse user went from grade 4 -> grade 1. This of course being a baseline to being considered special grade.
In terms of strength, Yuuji is above the floor power scaling of "special grade" as the top of special grade is sukuna/gojo level.

Right now I don't think he scales to Special Grade (in traditional terms), but that doesn't make him weak when you consider how he's only been a sorcerer for not even a full year, yet he's progressed so much in such a small time frame compared to everyone else who's had years of experience, even Yuta who's been around for almost 2 years.
Yuji may seem out of reach with the likes of Gojo and Sukuna, but he has the highest potential out of everyone in the series thus far, and he is not someone who should be taken lightly
People forget that Yuji scales similar to Maki in physical prowess, and that would mean that he also scales to Toji in the same area.
So Yuji is basically a sorcerer that has the body of someone with a Heavenly Pact while also keeping curse energy. He can punch as hard as Toji Zenin at 120% and on top of that he can use Black Flash.
That would hurt.
Yuji was blatantly outpaced, and out-muscled by Maki in their tag-team against Sukuna. where she did as well without him as she did with

Yuji doesn’t have the power to over take an entire country. A stray bullet can pierce his skull and he’ll be dead. He doesn’t even have a domain or ways to fend off it. Even so he’s definitely a supreme grade 1 because he was able to beat magi to to a pulp at his full power and mahito was by far a very formidable special grade curse who was practically a genius.

Good vid. Only thing I disagree with is the Yuta scaling. Since we know the ending, we know the Yuta was simply trying to do two things. Complete his task of killing Yuji due to the binding vow and then revive him. Yuta as we know must infuse his cursed energy to become strong physically. Of course he had utilize said energy to fight but I see it as Yuta doing the bare minimum with it... Sukuna as we saw kinda knew what the situation was leads me to believe even further Yuta was just so much above him. Rn, I believe Yuji to be peak grade 1. He’s a Jujutsu prodigy without a cursed technique. The only reason I don’t consider him special grade is that the 4 current official special grades would stomp him. There’s still a gap. And non-official special grade sorcerers like Kashimo and Hakari would still beat him in battle. Give Yuji a technique and just a bit more training, and I see him scaling to Geto (pre-kenjaku)

Itadori Yuji simply CANNOT be called a special grade sorcerer. Being a special grade sorcerer means that you are an anomaly and your strength is immeasurable. Satoru Gojo deserves to be called special grade because his powers involve manipulating time and space. Suguru Geto deserves to be called special grade because he can manipulate pretty much any cursed spirit which includes extremely powerful special grade curses. Tsukumo Yuki deserves to be called special grade because she can control her own mass to the extent that she can create a blackhole. Okkotsu Yuta deserves to be called special grade not only because he has the most cursed energy reserves among sorcerers in the modern era but also because of his ability to copy any ability or cursed technique (provided he fulfills the conditions of course).
Just because you can defeat special grade curses, it does not equal to you being a special grade sorcerer. There are also plenty of other grade 1 sorcerers capable of fighting special grade curses. That is why Itadori Yuji doesn't have anything special to him, all he has in his arsenal is close combat. And he's not unique in that, Maki also has immense superhuman capabilities (arguably better than Itadori's even). No matter how excellent his close combat techniques is... Unless his strength is like Saitama's. He just CANNOT be called special grade.

If yujis speed is equavalent to that of tojis, and he has cursed energy, not using it however. As right as you are, I believe current manga yuji is on par with Yuta without rika. Keep in mind Yuta retained special grade status without Rikas help. Yuji is around Yutas level who is the second strongest sorcerer of the current era, behind only gojo. Kashimo and Sukuna are from the past, but they are stronger than Yuta, and therefore Yuji. If Megumi was Grade 2, and far surpassed by yuji shortly after joining sorcerers, and both of them have far grown, Megumi exorcised a special grade curse on his own and still thought of Yuji to be stronger than him. In conclusion, I believe Yuji is at the strength of a special grade sorcerer, if not that, semi special grade. In chapter 203 Kenjaku says that being special grade means you have the power to overthrow nations. I love Yuji, but he's not overthrowing any nations at this point in the story.
Special grade 1. Yuji is definitely slept on in terms of his strength I think because he has a minor case of the Jogo effect where half his fights are with the very top tier characters. Really excited for his development when he finally gets a CT and DE.
Special grade 1 is not higher than grade 1. Special grade 1 are the sorcerers that are not part of the school.
I think people really mistake the meaning of a special grade. It’s not about the power they possess it’s about the scope of the power. Yuji with these hands physically couldn’t destroy all of Japan. Todo, maki, panda, hakari… they can’t physically wipe out a nation. The special grades are labelled as such not because they’ve reached a level that no one else could but because of the potential scope of their powers. Yuta is special grade because rika could level a city easily. Gojo is special grade because his technique carves chunks of the earth out on its way to its target and beyond. Geto is special grade because he can amass literally armies of curses to kill millions if he wanted to. Special grade isn’t something you achieve it’s a burden.
It's also important to note that Yuji can use black flash and Maki can't. So Yuji would lose against Maki unless he lands a few Black Flashes, and then it would even out more

His physical durability and his raw power are top notch,but the main issue is that he doesnt have anything to overcome a domain so i put him in grade1. He has a long way to go and as gojo himself said yuji will be on par with him, so we still have to wait.

He has the endurance, durability and arguably strength or a special grade but him as a whole is peak grade 1, like he has no hax or feats that put him on maki or yuta level
The writer implies that if gojo fails that Hikari ,yuta , and Maki are pretty much their last cards and yuji not mentioned so I dont exactly think he scales to Maki.

Yuji is definitely one of the strongest special grade 1 sorcerers, with his only drawback being the lack of curse techniques and a domain expansion. If anything, this all serves to show how impressive Yuji is physically. He's able to take on and beat special grade curses and even briefly contend with people like Yuta by simply "punching and kicking" really well.
I feel like saying hes relative to yuta is kind of a stretch cause yuta didnt want to kill yuji and made it very clear after the fight if hed wanted to he could have used his cursed speech made yuji stop moving and instantly killed him and every other special grade are just way above yuji saying he should be considered for promotion is kinda weird when every special grade sorceror can low diff him

Yuji still doesnt scale above transformed mahito in any sense. In a purely physical fight Maki wipes the floor with Yuji. Maki/Toji are stated even above Gojo and Sukuna when it comes to a pure physical fight.
A pure physical fight Limits Yuji as then he would have no CE by that logic. As shown in the manga, Yuji with CE is relative to Maki.

If Yuji ever gets a CT he 100% becomes a special grade sorcerer. I think that while his current strength is extremely impressive hes being held back by his lack of Jujutsu.
If anything I agree with Gojos idea of Yuji being outside of the grade system altogether just like Maki and Toji Zenin.

BUT without his own unique curse techniques and very straight forward fighting style, he is without a doubt for me a grade 1, and his raw physical skills carries it hard, but it can only go so far

Yuji are desperately lacking those unique ability and deeper knowledge on curse technique, we know that Yuji can evolve fast mid fight, but without basic knowledge that he can hold on to, I don't think Yuji will go far, I mean look how fast Yuji evolve when Todo gives him some pointers, corrected Yuji flaws and gives basic curse understanding, he evolve at incredible speed

We know per Mei Mei that there are limits to how much you can amp your physicals with cursed energy, and we honestly dont have any real indication that Sukunas speed massively increases with each finger he obtained. For all we know his speed capped out at 5 fingers due to how efficient he is at utilizing cursed energy, and the remaining fingers served to amp his cursed technique output

I disagree with your assessment over Kenjaku's statement about Special Grades requiring to be able to topple nations being unimpressive. It is simply the bare minimum and while I do agree with your scaling, Yuji alone cannot take on an entire country's armed forces. Yuji's higher end feats are also only possible upon black flash and specific circumstances but even then, he would still end up being exhausted after fighting an entire nation's worth of armed forces. Compare that with other Special Grades, like Teen Gojo, Teen Geto, Volume 0 Yuta, and Yuji and you can definitely see a stark difference. Gojo can repeatedly summon invisible forces to stop incoming attack and throw armed forces around without a second thought, Geto has an army of invisible monsters, Yuta has an unstoppable invisible monster that has infinite cursed energy protecting him 24/7, and Yuki can summon black holes. The 4 Special Grade Shamans show something most of the cast do not have and it's the ability to consistently threaten a nation's strength. This is what separates Hakari and Yuta if we are discussing their title alone. Hakari would need to keep refreshing his domain against an army and while he can certainly keep it up for a long time and he is definitely powerful, he falls short in consistency.

Yuji’s strongest asset is his physical abilities but that isn’t enough to make someone special grade (unless it’s to the extreme in maki/Toji’s case). Yuji lacks to his own CT(from what we know) and his own Ce pool and just his overall control of it just isn’t on par with a lot of the top tier sorcerers. Another thing is every special grade sorcerer has abilities that sets them apart from everyone. Gojo with limitless, Yuki mass manipulation, Yuta with immense Ce and copy, and Geto(Kenjaku) with shear numbers and special grade curses . Even tho I consider maki and Toji special grade sorcerers even they are on the lower end of the scale. Yuji is at the top of grade 1 but the gap between a grade 1 sorcerer and special grade is massive
If Maki and Hakari are not ranked Special Grade, I don't see how he could be graded as Special Grade. Yaga Masamichi was granted Special Grade before his execution because he was under suspicion of knowingly created fully autonomous Cursed Corpses. Yuji is unkillable but he has no means to destroy single country by himself.
I mean the only non Japanese sorcerer we see is miguel. And we know that yuta studied in west Africa so far these are the only two places we know for a fact that have are strong sorcerers. They haven't even mentioned sorcerers from any where else. I know it's a big deal just commenting for the algo

Just realized something, we now know that binding vow techniques within simple domains are possible. Likewise the finger bearer had a domain but no technique ingrained in it. This means you dont need an innate technique for a domain, and in theory could apply a binding vow instead similar to a Simple Domain. So imagine Yuji applying some sort of binding vow into his DE that reduces his opponents technique ability or CT in general making the fight a physical cursed energy fight
Its important to mention in the Jujutsu world being special grade also correlates towards your ability's power to take over a nation, Suguru Geto was Special grade because he could create an army even though he was powerful and strong on his own as well as Principle Yaga also being up for discussion due to his ability to create an army. Yuji doesnt have a cursed technique that could give him the power to wipe out a country right now so being at the top of special grade 1 makes sense. Yuki could technically destroy the planet with a blackhole pushing her as a special grade threat as well. Yuta being a copy cat who can have unlimited cursed energy potential probably pushes him towards the potential of conquering a nation as well
