Rebecca! Woah! You suit a smoky eye. Wow wow wow. Fantastic look. I’ve always wanted a cool-toned eyeliner that isn’t as severe as black. Grey is the way to go. I’m gonna go for ‘Cinder Smoke’ or the Victoria Beckham ‘Ash’ one. Still deciding.
I have so many colors of the Victoria Beckham, but I got the Renaissance Gold. I love it. I wish I’d gotten Night Forest and the Burnt Umber, too, because I don’t have those colors in the VB! I love that you can do an entire look with these kinds of liners, and use no actual powder shadow. I do that with the VB Bronze all the time. This look is absolutely GORGEOUS on you! I mean STUNNING!! 😍
sisley eyeliner is the only one that stays in waterline for me , top and bottom and I tried many and they are super soft gorgeous colours yes they are expensive but they last all day every day
Increasingly I am finding the Merit shadow in navy blue (in conjunction with their brush) to be my favorite eyeliner. It goes on really easily and does an amazing job of staying in place, while not causing any irritation. I went to Sephora yesterday and concluded that the dark brown and the grey shades would work well for as eyeliners too, and would buy them right away if I weren't concerned about that stated 6-month usage life. I don't think that blue shade works too well as a shadow and wonder why Merit didn't promote those dark shades more as eyeliners. And offer a black one - not that I like black that much, but many people do.
Your look is FABULOUS! I love how you used the pencils. Because of contact lenses, I can’t put a pencil in my waterline or tight line anymore, but I use the liners plenty on the outsides of my lids! These look beautiful. I’ll probably pick a few up now that I’ve seen your review! I do like Victoria Beckham, but I also like Natasha Denona, Chanel, Chanticaille, Dior . . . A lot of companies do liners well at a lesser price point (Persona, Glossier . . . ).
Hello Rabbi! Yes, liners really DO become one of those things we can easily save cash on. It's so true. And those glossier ones come in SO many GREAT colors! I prefer mascara in true black but liners? Too harsh for me in black.
Funny as I moved away from black liner years ago, as I like more colorful looks if I wear liner at all :) I love the urban decay liquid ones that came out recently a lot
Hi!!! I also have a lot of black and brown eye pencils. Just the other day I bought Mambo (Nars); a friend gave me a green one from Kiko cosmetics as a gift and so when I saw Lisa's launch and as there weren't any blue ones, which is what I've been trying to buy, I decided to just buy the one and it was the Renaissance Gold. I was surprised because I thought I would only use it on very special occasions, but after all it is an excellent eye pencil for everyday use! I think it works so well because it has that dark/black base that you mention. It's the only explanation I can find for why this pencil entered my daily makeup routine immediately after the first use. Renaissance Gold is an excellent alternative to not always wearing black or brown! I'm delighted with!!! I still haven't stopped using it daily since I received it two weeks ago! I can't compare it to Victoria Beckham because I don't have any of her eye pencils. I've been looking at it and the blue one I thought was very pretty. Do you have this blue one? Can you use it on the waterline of your eyes? I think the reason for both brands opting for German manufacturing is due to the vast German experience in the production of drawing and painting pencils and crayons, which is also evident in the excellent quality of the makeup pencils! (Anyone who is into art history or does artistic drawing, I think will better understand what I mean!) Thanks for the video!!! Kisses, Maria
I got my LE order 4 days after I ordered it but the pencils wernt there. The site glichted so much it didn't add the one I wanted , it literally took 45 mins to try to add stuff to the cart and check out. I love the VB liners they are the only ones that don't bother my sensitive eyes also the sharper is good it doesn't chew up the pencils lime every other sharpener even high end ones that I have do. Since you talked about using white or light matte shadows as an inner corner brighter, during your recent Patric Ta video, I have been doing that and LOVE IT! I skipped the shimmer shade today and used beige, grey and then white. I love this all matte look❤❤ Thank you 😊
I’m so excited!!!!! I love the bright in the inner eye without the sparkle!!!! Yay!!!!! I can’t do precise eyeliner by the way so I do love creamy pencils like this that you can blend.
I purchased 4 of Lisa Eldridge eye pencils I prefer the tones of these than Victoria beckham I appreciate the shelf life is 24 mths but the downside for me is they don’t last as long am I going to continue purchasing more colours if they become available for sure I love trying new eye pencils
I've been looking forward to this review. I l❤ve a smokey eye on you. I have been wearing either the gold or dark green daily for a week now. I have oily eyelids and had a hot mess the first time I used the green eyeliner. It moved all over my upper eyelid and looked like an oil slick. So I tried the Essence eyeshadow primer the next day, and it stayed for 14 hours. The following day, I tried the Nars eyeshadow primer with the gold liner and it lasted only 6 hours. I also tried the gold liner with the new Merit one and done eyeshadow and it wore for 12 hours. Both look great and last in my upper waterline. The gold and dark green colors are beautiful on my brown eyes - so many compliments.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I have actually been having good luck with the Pat McGrath eye primer. I was surprised that it did not irritate my eyes at all and my powder shadows have been behaving much better with it and maybe also being less irritating (due to there being a protective barrier). Maybe I will try using the LE eyeliners as shadows over it - perhaps they would be less irritating to me that way than when I use them as liners. So I wonder if you ever got around to trying that primer.
I have a trick that might help. When I want a thin, sharp line with my Victoria Beckham liners, I take a liner brush and run it over the tip/side of the pencil and apply it with that, not the pencil directly. Because it’s so creamy, plenty of products gets on the brush, and I can control the width of the line better.
Amazing tip from Lisa. It does work, Heather. And you get the benefit of the creaminess that applies so smoothly while not having to worry about it being messy
Yes ! Such a great review. I bought all of the colors except burnt umber. I don’t like the red look to most brown pencils. I don’t even use the hourglass pencil in cave anymore. I would look in the mirror in my car and my eyes looked red. I figured the burnt umber would be the same. I love the black liner because it’s so crisp for tight lining. I’ve been using them everyday since they arrived. I have not smoked them out yet but your results show that it will be successful. I’ve just been using it as a liner and wearing my Lashify lashes. I haven’t worn my eye makeup like this for a few years. I agree about your comparison to the Victoria Beckham. I’m liking the Lisa Eldridge a little more than VB ( maybe because they’re new 🙂). I saw one of your viewers mention the Sisley liner. She’s right !! That liner does not move from the waterline. It’s amazing. It’s expensive but it lasts a long time. Thanks for another awesome review 😘
So happy to see your comparison of these liners, Rebecca! I love my Sea Grey VBB liner and am intrigued by Lisa’s new liners, especially Ground Coffee and Night Forest. I love a pencil that be easily smudged to create a full eye look. Love the result you achieved with all the pencils together…it looks beautifully undone in a cohesive way, if that makes sense!😃
I love this look- did you use more of the night green on your eyes or the antique gold? You know what - I never can keep any liner on my waterline for too long and it’s fine- it just ends up making my eyes look more closed- so my verdict is, it’s a win!!❤I love it-ordered the antique gold for now- It’s great how ‘done’ you can look with some really good eyeliner.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty i thought your final look was so striking! Really made your eyes ‘come alive’ I think I could save a LOT of time just doing eyeliners like these and skipping shadow.. although I find putting a tiny bit of shadow on top of soft liners like these gives them amazing staying power and keeps them from smudging so much.
Thanks! I already have so many VB liners that I skipped the LE ones. However, when I run out of the VB I will probably try the LE ones as replacements, because I am such a LE fan. One problem with some of my VB ones is that when I tightline I get some fallout crumbles over the course of the day. I can't remember which ones crumble onto my face, but some do. Also, I am allergic to the plum colored VB one because it contains carmine and I am allergic to carmine red.
I thought I had done that one but it turns out I have it. Drop me a line either in DM or as a comment on Instagram so I have your name there and can tag you
Yours is the first review on these that I have seen Rebecca. I have one from VB, a green one, I love the color. The tip gets very soft and almost slushy at times. I found putting in the fridge for a bit before use helps. Your look is gorgeous! I would do one exactly the same way. I have one green/black shade from Givenchy that was a one off that I found from a seller for $3. The poor guy didn't know what he had there. If I could find more of those I would buy them. Tightlining and I don't get along. Waterline ok. Thank you for making me spend some money.
I got “ground coffee” as soon as they were actually for sale.. I ordered it specifically because Lisa showed how blendable they were supposed to be. I’m not very good at that technique though. I never really owned liners that were good for blending out, had to use eyeshadow. Kind of stressful knowing the clock is ticking before it sets and there I am with my brush and an adrenaline spike trying not to make a huge mess of it.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I like the color, it is a lot better than black and don’t feel like the blending was harder than it was portrayed to be, it definitely is very blendable and can be sheered out A LOT. I also thought these were cool because of the way she showed them looking wet when applied from the pencil.
Renaissance gold is kind of close and I have a comparison of those two over on my Instagram if you scroll down a bit but it’s pretty easy to find. Other than that, it seems to actually be a fairly innovative unique shade for VB.
Hi Rebecca oh i love the smoky eye look that you did😍. I might need to add a few more LE pencils that green one is nice 😜😂🤪. I got 2 -renaissance gold and burnt umber( love that shade, its warm one) i have a few VB ones but yep bordeaux is not good🤪 Have a blessed day🙏❤️
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty Dr Sponge was too busy being clever and negotiating a contract with Cley de Peau (sp?) For sponges they can charge separately for!
I bought 3 liners from VB and all of them wear off within 20 mins. I don’t have oily lids but can actually sit in front of the mirror and watch them come off. Other liners, even Urban Decay, don’t last either although VB are the worst BUT I just got a Lisa Eldridge one and it stays on all day, first liner I’ve been able to wear in years. Just ordered another.
Yesss. You SAW it happen to me with the first application of, in my case, the LE. I was applying the rest on the lid and poof the waterline was GONE. Isn’t that crazy? But now, two coats and they stay! They smudge a bit but I like that look.
I just got my first batch of VB pencils! Does the cap of yours is also very tight? First I thought that was a cool feature, until I accidentally broke the tip of one pencil while trying to open 😢
Totally. After the first time you get it off of the pencil, it’s easier to get on and off after that and it’s really nice that it keeps it from drying out. However I do think they have some issues with the size and shape of their pencils because sometimes it’s hard to find a sharpener that will work with certain pencils. Like they’re almost a little micro bit too skinny.
Hi Rebecca, I have to say that they look like they are ok. But it doesn't last like some of the Victoria Beckham ones. I like the gold and that Burgundy one. Also great that they last 24 months. Thanks for always helping us making a great decision Have a great day.
That was the perfect “Rebecca Approved” smoky eye. That look is just beautiful on you! I'm so glad you compared the LE & the VBB. It's the obvious comparison. They look like they have formulas that will shine in different ways. I love the LE darker based liners, too. When the base of my lash is darker, my lashes look more substantial. It's interesting they are both made in Germany. I didn't realize many beauty products were made there. Thx for the great comparison. I can tell they are both my kind of liner. As always, you are answering the questions in my head before I can type them. Xo 😘
That looks so good on you!!!! Oh Bummer … my biggest issue is running on my under eyes I need a budge proof formula … I was looking at black coffee when I ordered the new lipsticks!!! Can’t wait to get them!!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍 also the baume embrace in sweet fig someone else said they run out their lip lines which is also a problem for me even with lip liners …. did u get those? Do u know? Thanks Rebecca!!! 🤍🤍🤍
Do you know how companies decide how long the stated usage lives for products are going to be? I ask this especially because I believe that the Caliray, Roen and Laura Mercier eye pencils are exactly the same formulation (including all the same ingredients in the same order as well as seeming the same to me, and made in Germany where Marlena Stell says there is one big eye pencil factory that many companies use), but the usage lives are vastly different. Is the usage life really dependent solely on the product, or is there some wiggle room for the company to make a decision about how long they want to take responsibility for it being good? The ingredient lists for the VB and LE pencils are slightly different - different order of ingredients, and the VB one contains tocopheryl acetate and panthenol (wouldn't the Vitamin E extend the usage life if anything though?). So those are differett enough that maybe the performance could be different in terms of things like how much goes on the eye. I found both of them to be a little irritating and am wonderng if the isoceteth-10 (which I think would be considered on Credo's no-no list) could be why.
You know, I think you’re correct about the wiggle room. It’s like medication really. Both things we put on and in our bodies. Many medications are fine even past sell by dates. And the six months dates we see on cosmetics, that does not have to be part of whatever they’re calling clean beauty now.
@@MsBNoodle There are a lot of lip pencils made in Germany (presumably that same factory), but the ones that I like most are from Victoria Beckham and are made in the Czech Republic.
Thanks for the great review. I really wanted to love these like I love every Lisa releas and i do like the colours and ease of application but i have dark circles and the eyeliners really smudged on me and made my under eye look even darker! I tried powder but it didn't help much! Any other eyeliner you can recommend?
So i have a love hate with these because i don’t find them to be budge proof. While i find them comparable to VB they are still a bit creamier and to touch hours later they just didn’t seem to want to set!? It was very strange because they touted as setting longwear after 40 secs. 16 hours what lol. They wore well on my waterline if i feel like my eyes watered after applying which happens often, i did the same and reapplied a few mins later and that helped it. I went like 9 hours and minor pulling off the corners. I wore several combos last week, burnt umber is gorgeous just warm red undertone brown. I purchased all except the black because i really only need one those lol and cinder because i don’t wear grey. I also noticed if i have any kind of emollience on my eyes they will fade off the edges on my lash line but otherwise it’s not like I’m rubbing my eyes.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty the colors are really pretty, I was surprised that the gold had such a dark base in person but I like all of the shades. I don’t plan on returning them, but I am disappointed in the claims. Thankfully, these are all still useful to me unlike the palettes lol
I glad you’re reviewing these pencils. I bought the Ground Coffee. I haven’t used it yet. I don’t care about about a smudger as I usually just use my finger or a Scott Barnes brush. I am forever on a search for a true waterproof pencil like the Marc Jakob gel pencils. The closest so far has been the Hourglass pencil in Cava. I usually like to line my upper water line. A lot of the pencils that say they’re waterproof and good for the waterline just don’t work for me. My tears must be acid!😂 Your eyes look great.❤
Found them too soft. Victoria beckham ones are too soft too...an eyeliner needs to have a slight hardness to the kohl for me to get a prrfect line. Foundi only kept the black one in beckham as i liked the shimmer effect if it but have to keep it in the fridge. Found the lisa ones very averagw. I waa one of the first to ordsr them at 4pm uk time when they launched online. But was disappointed in real life with them. Nothing really that special about them so i sent them back Find dior pencil ones are good for lining. Tilbury are average. Chanel average. Think we need a stunning new line out for the eyes. Cant beat mac powerline liners in engraved black for lining. Love thr channel watched from the early days ❤
@emmajones1183. Have you ever tried Laura Mercier, Caliray or Roen pencils? Those all seem the same to me and have worked out better for me than VB/LE in terms of not being too soft.
Rebecca!

Really made your eyes ‘come alive’ I think I could save a LOT of time just doing eyeliners like these and skipping shadow.. although I find putting a tiny bit of shadow on top of soft liners like these gives them amazing staying power and keeps them from smudging so much.
@@Loralarify yesss. A bit of sparkle shadow!!
Ohhh yes. That Carmine can be the most irritating thing. Terrible. Those VBB liners are so temperamental only according to shade. It’s so crazy!
Hi, how does renaissance gold compare to vb bronze? X
I thought I had done that one but it turns out I have it. Drop me a line either in DM or as a comment on Instagram so I have your name there and can tag you
You look amazing!
Thank you, Stephanie!!!!
I need to try this liner. Yes. The fridge is so helpful. These kohl pencils can turn to actual gel. Haha
I was surprised how much play time these have tho. How did it go for you Ruth the ground coffee??
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I like the color, it is a lot better than black and don’t feel like the blending was harder than it was portrayed to be, it definitely is very blendable and can be sheered out A LOT. I also thought these were cool because of the way she showed them looking wet when applied from the pencil.
She's very thoughtful in her approach. @@HeatherHasGame
Hi. Which Lisa Eldridge eyeliner would be the closet to cinnamon?
Renaissance gold is kind of close and I have a comparison of those two over on my Instagram if you scroll down a bit but it’s pretty easy to find. Other than that, it seems to actually be a fairly innovative unique shade for VB.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty thank you. They are all out of stock on her website unfortunately. I also like the look of Burnt Umber
I hope they come back soon. So frustrating@@lisajones9442
Hi Rebecca oh i love the smoky eye look that you did😍. I might need to add a few more LE pencils that green one is nice 😜😂🤪. I got 2 -renaissance gold and burnt umber( love that shade, its warm one) i have a few VB ones but yep bordeaux is not good🤪 Have a blessed day🙏❤️
I WISH the bordeaux were good but, alas, nope. Runs and looks like blood. Scary. Maybe for Halloween?
Would you say the LE ones are "smudgier" than the VB ones? They look smudgier. I like the look of the forest green one.
YEP!!! Smudgier for SURE. No smudger included tho....did Mr. Sponge not negotiate that deal?
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty Dr Sponge was too busy being clever and negotiating a contract with Cley de Peau (sp?) For sponges they can charge separately for!
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I quite fancy a smudgey green
I bought 3 liners from VB and all of them wear off within 20 mins. I don’t have oily lids but can actually sit in front of the mirror and watch them come off. Other liners, even Urban Decay, don’t last either although VB are the worst BUT I just got a Lisa Eldridge one and it stays on all day, first liner I’ve been able to wear in years. Just ordered another.
Which Lisa eyeliner did you get?
@@cassandra916 The dark brown one, think it’s called Coffee and just ordered black. Hoping it’s the same.
Yes, they don't last as long. I do agree.
Xo 😘
It’s such a lovely island I’m just not sure it’s going to be reliable and budge proof. But is it beautiful? Absolutely!
I'm so sorry, you're right, they're not as budge-proof as I thought. I've been having the same problem!
I wonder if it's the same factory that makes the lip pencils too! I did wonder if it was all the same place!
I can absolutely help you with that. Do you like a smudge look that doesn’t budge or a sharp crisp line that doesn’t budge?
@NotFitforPrintBeauty thank you so much, i prefer a sharp line that stays put
@@theblacktulip7277 then you def want the Pat McGrath permagel liner
Which will flake less
Good question. Neither of these actually flake although with Victoria Beckham it kind of depends on the shade, some are better than others
Anne! I would say your comment here is entirely accurate!! Entirely
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty the colors are really pretty, I was surprised that the gold had such a dark base in person but I like all of the shades. I don’t plan on returning them, but I am disappointed in the claims. Thankfully, these are all still useful to me unlike the palettes lol
That makes total sense. No return but not what we thought. @@anneviscardi
Smokin’! 😆💕
Hahah! Yes!
Germany make a lot of pencils. CT made in Germany too. I suspect it's all one factory but have no evidence for this.
It’s totally absolutely one factory
@NotFitforPrintBeauty they make great art pencils too.
Yes. Yes. They DO. I actually remember that from a fashion design class. @@MsBNoodle
Hay fever red 😂😂
Also known as white rabbit red.
Wasn’t there a time when all eye pencils were made in Germany?
I actually think so yes. True
My tears must be acid!😂 Your eyes look great.❤
The HG in Cava works for me, too, but it's so WAXY. That is the trade off, though, isn't it?
YOU FOUND COCOA
No. Sigh. Yep. You guessed it correctly. I repurchased it. Sigh.
@NotFitforPrintBeauty :(
Found them too soft.
Nothing really that special about them so i sent them back
Find dior pencil ones are good for lining.
Emma! Thank you. Super informative. I love Lisa's suggestions. And also, try the Hourglass Voyeur. They are waxier but they do not budge.
