I just recently started buying enamel-coated jewelry. I am absolutely in love with it, the colors are just fantastic and so unique. I've been curious about the process and figured UA-cam has everything so let me check it out lol. Thank you for posting
Great video. Couple questions 1) can this be used to coat 14kt gold jewellery? 2) does it work on all yellow/white/rose gold 3) how is this different from normal rhodium/pen rhodium for jewellery? Thanks so much
I have this exact setup and am having issues getting the e-coating not to have bubbles. Either it bubbles or it doesn’t stick to certain areas. Any recommendations? I’m following the exact procedure that come with the kit
I am a powdercoater, anodizer, have done some plating, so i have the vast majority of the equipment. But, is this company the source of the actualy e-coating coloring?
Great question, Christina. It does depend on the type of jewelry. Rings and bracelets will take much more abuse than earrings and pendants, so the e-coating will not last as long on them. It can chip if it sustains a hard enough blow and would then, need to be recoated. If it needs to be recoated, the old e-coating can be removed with the stripping solution. If there is exposed metal, that specific area can also be recoated. We hope this was helpful for you!
@@RioGrande1944 are there instructions on how to recoat a specific area? do you mean the chipped area can be recoated without being totally stripped? Thanks
@@mrbellman01 Unfortunately, there are not instructions for touching up a specific area, but you would want to strip the entire object and re-ecoat it to ensure that the coverage is even and consistent.
Hi there! There is not a way to without laboratory chemical testing; however, we can say that the aluminum is not an easy metal to ecoat. There is a high failure rate so if it is aluminum with a coating, it would be either a lacquer or powder coat. We hope you find this helpful!
@@RioGrande1944 I noticed a few jewelers using nanoceramic but everytime I look for it, it always seems to just come up as a clear car polish...lol. I'll be checking with you directly on your site for more information. Thank you!
Hi everyone! Is this some kind of varnish, correct? This way need to be filtered in a given interval, right? Which is the cheaper method to filter this solution?
It is not a varnish, it is an electrically deposited ceramic solution. You do not need to filter e-coating solution. In the process of using the plating system, the piece would be in its cleanest state so no dirt, oil or polishing compound should be introduced to the solution. It is best to put pieces in an ultrasonic before starting the e-coating process. Any dirt left on the pieces will prevent the e-coating solution from giving the best result.
Great to hear you, I confess that IS the First time that I'm Hearing about not filtering e-coat. Great I Will try It soon. Usually, I hear about contínuos ultra-filtration with membranes. @@RioGrande1944
Do I have to have a magnetic stirrer in the beaker with the color? I’ve been using mine with out. Is it crucial? What’s the Benefit of using it rather then not?
not crucial at all..I never use the magnets. Just stir the solution after each time you coat because it kind of slightly separates while the anode is doing it's thing.
Hello, our Jewelry Tech Team got back to us and they said that the finish you have on the metal before you apply the ecoating is the finish you will have afterwards. We hope this is helpful and thank you for reaching out to us! Let us know if you have any other questions.
@@RioGrande1944 means gold plated jewelry i am a jewelers and i can plate jewelry but it's tarnished after some time i want this clear coat for my jewelry
@@phool289 You can use the transparent e-coating for a more durable clear coat, but there are some alternatives. While not as durable as e-coating, lacquers like the Midas Finish Seal Lacquer or Midas Clear Lacquer are common for preventing tarnish while in the showcase. It won’t hold up very long to regular wear, but a polishing cloth can keep the tarnish to a minimum after the lacquer wears away. If your jewelry is tarnishing after gold plating, this can also be remedied by applying a nickel or palladium pre-plate before plating the gold.
@@RioGrande1944 thanks for your very Reasonable advice and help❤️ It's means nickel and palladium life is long? One more thing what chemical you are using in electro cleaning and what's acid dip?
Only light polishing is recommended. The layer of e-coat is very thin so mechanical polishing would be too vigorous and remove the e-coat layer. We hope this helps!

Hey Rio G, love using your product! Im wondering if you could share any advice on how i might be able to mask certain areas?
Thank you, we liked this lesson on how to e-coat items, the equipment looks very organized. Lance & Patrick.
That is a very cool process! 👍 I really liked the vivid blue or clear. Of course, I suppose red and green would be great holiday colors. 🙂

can we use otg for e-coating ?

good afternoon! do you have a coating that can be used without heating?
How long will the e-coating last? Will it chip? And what happens if it needs to be recoated? Thanks!
Lasts many years and does not chip..it forms a permanent imperceptible bond to the metal..just beautiful.
I've never needed to re-coat anything and no complaints from customers ever.

How to make a Coating liquid what are the solution materials
I just bought the complete kit for e-cote, I have only one question, at what Temperature should each liquid be?
Hello. Thank you for the question.
The only solution that is heated is the Electrocleaner to 150F.
The acid dip is not heated nor the ecoat colors
Any solution for large amounts?
Im interested to by black carbon coat, do you have that color?
