a refreshing, humorous and, to my opinion, as realistic as possible review of a car (brand) that is proving it made a great market decision - aiming at large portion of average consumers seeking for reliability, simplicity and reasonable price (steal-deal as you name it)....off course, I am probably a bit biased, driving a new Duster, but who cares, I simply love it :-)))
I've just bought a Logan Stepway Laureate 67 plate, 19k on it.. It's spotless, from a Renault main dealer, 12m warranty, full MOT, serviced, for 7.4k.. I'm very pleased . I got the stepway logan because I like the style and it has all the extra bits on it.. 0.9 model. ( Living in Central London it's a real pain to keep having to meet changing emission regulations.. ) This does and cover's all areas I want and a good deal..
The Logan is a good car for the Money. You have to look at it from a Value or Price/What you get perspective. My dad has a 2015 Logan MCV with the 1.5 DCI engine and it's good for 55-60MPG if you are careful with it. I drive it every now and again and I love it. My main car is a 2007 Hyundai Coupe SIII 2.0L 4cyl and they are completely different cars but I would definately reccomend a Logan if you need a decent size Estate car and don't care about all the fancy electric crap
You get full practicality for the price and thats what Dacia are after. Forget luxury equipment and comfort, Dacia can get you from point A to point B with decent fuel economy and your entire family inside it. What more can you ask for?
Much like the cars of yesteryear they have fewer gadgets and electrickery gimmicks. That makes them simpler to repair and more reliable as there's less to go wrong, just like the 70's cars I began driving with. I bought one of these yesterday, picking it up tomorrow.
In Some countrys they sell Dacia Dusters as Renaults and asks a lot more then what you pay for a Dacia tbh so let us be lucky we lived in countrys where they sell it as Dacia 😊
To be fair, the Renault Duster is modified to be more premium than the Dacia Duster. I've used both, and it's quite true. Oddly though, the current Renault Duster is just a heavily facelifted previous gen Dacia Duster. The new Dacia isn't sold as a Renault.
It actually is French now. For example there is nothing to do with Romania in the case of the model Lodgy. It isn't produced in Romania anymore so it's actually 95% French and 5% Moroccan. It's a great brand.
@@Random-gt4kr Yes. Dacia is a great brand. But Dacia is romanian brand. the Romanians invented this car brand, so it is the Romanians. The fact that it is made in France is another thing. She thinks I know what I say
Dani 09 the car is made by Renault under Dacia badge because Renault didn’t want to made cheap cars at the time when they buyed Dacia and Dacia was falling like other communist companies for example Ikarus,UAZ and many other communist manufactures. We bought the Dacia Logan MCV ACCESS 2015 model (lower model) from our local dealer and got it for £4,995. Missing features that some of it we had installed - radio, rear head rest, parcel shelf, spare tier, air con, central lock. For the price and our budget you come to deal with these little things and I love our family car. We had a Peugeot 207 Prior to this (which got written off ) and the boot space has been a real eye opener. Its not the perfect car but it suits us, WOO! 👍
That price is insane for a brand new car, and of that size as well. I see a few a few of these running around as hire cars, always catches my eye, looks old fashioned in a way, just a utility box on wheels.
Indeed. Married 53 y/o with grown-up kids here. Just ordered the new, bi-fuel Sandero with all mod-cons, a hair under 15KEUR. 5th Dacia to date, replaces the 6 y/o Duster pranged beyond economic repair by son number 2, sh!t happens, no worries. Never had an issue with any of them really, those we have had on my wife's fully tricked-out Dokker all fixed under warranty. These cars just make sense, even considering we do one or two 900Km journeys a year. If I was 25 or 30 years younger I would sneer and mutter something about poor people, but honestly, tried and tested Renault technology, albeit not quite the latest bar engines, at an incredible price, what's not to like?
Have huge respect for dacia. Its basically „i want a 90s / 00s car but new“ just totally honest, doesnt try to hide that it is cheap, its just like „yeah im cheap. What about it?“
I own a Logan estate now. I have to say on my first test drive, I didn't like it. Felt slow and cheap , but I had just come from a nice Volvo V40 with auto box and heated leather seats. After a day or two of driving it, I found more plus points than negatives. Pros. Cheap to run compared to the volvo. In terms of fuel, insurance and car tax and parts. Massive door pockets and cup holders. My volvo didn't have cup holders and really narrow door pockets. Big square boot space. Bigger than my Volvo. Surprisingly comfortable Better stereo. OK my volvo was nearing 20 years old and still had a tape deck/CD player, but for a cheap car, my Dacia has blue tooth, etc. Electric front windows Cons. A bit slow. Screams its bollocks off at 75. Not a bad off the mark acceleration though. Managed to wheelspin it. Interior is dull . Dashboard is ok, but door panels are just one colour and featureless No aircon.
I live on the Isle of Wight and recently bought a 2014 MCV Logan 1.5 diesel in Wolverhampton for £3500 . It's done 108,000 miles and ticks all the boxes for me inc the towbar . Problem is after the initial 30 day warranty expired couple of weeks ago, the tire sensors came on . I didn't know what the warning lights were until I checked the handbook. My local service man said one of the tire sensors may be faulty/ or a tire needs inflating , as too said the handbook. I followed the instructions to rectify problem but the warning light / s still come on . Apparently even if there is no real problem with the car , it can fail it's MOT if a warning light shows! This a pain . First modern 2nd hand car I've bought that's computerized in lots of areas....Why it needs tire sensors I don't know...🤔
Its a lot bigger than you first realise, the boot is enormous. Not the sharpest driving car,Its quite soft and rolly, the steering could have a bit more feel.Interior is sturdy enough.Great on fuel and peforms decently enough.Dont bother with eco mode,it makes it so slow. Its cheap so overlook its shortcomings and accept it as a workhorse. You couldnt get much more car for your money but be realistic your not buying a cutting edge car.

It's a streched Sandero and it is a good thing. I bought the Sandero, since I don't need such a large car. With the Sandero you don't need the key to open the trunk.
Great review Ivan. I've owned and driven far more expensive cars and this offers so much more bang for your buck. As for people fretting over safety. What were you being transported around in when you were an infant?
The Dacia is a budget motor for a former eastern block country so it had to be cheap to sell. Much of the design was done to save money which meant the designers were not able to make it to more expensive cars higher standards... So you pay for what you get, it's not a criticism of the car, it's still a good value motor and you get a lot of metal for your money but... Like all other budget brands, take Skoda as an example, over time will get better and better in all departments especially with safety features... If it's what you can afford then it's a good buy
Ауто камере Србија / Dash cams Serbia very true but back when the cars were being designed, they were eastern block or, just former eastern block countries
We have now one week the 2020 Dacia Logan MCV Stepway TCe 100 ECO-G LPG with the 0,9 Litre 3 cylinder engine (same as in the Renault Clio) with some extra options: full air condition, rear camera and rear powerwindows. This car has more features than our last daily driven car, a 2004 Volvo V50 1,8 (also bought new) and it is half the price than the Volvo 16 years ago !!! OK it has 15 km/h less highspeed and 25 horsepower less, but 3 liters less per 100 km fuelconsumption on gas and it is half the price. With LPG we get over 400km with 15 Euro of cost. Will the Dacia also break the 330.000 km like the Volvo ? Have i told you that the Dacia ist half the price of our last new car in 2004 ? Greets from Swabia in Germany
I like to b8 they will bring the 1.3 turbo petrol engine that makes 150HP to the Logan soon. It is already on the new Duster, and it’s the same engine as in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A Class and B Class 👌🏻❤️ Of course Mercedes slightly tuned it, but it’s the same engine tho. And it’s great!
1.5 dci is about 15 years old now :) dacia deserves more tbh renault just uses it as a strictly economical region strategy, in brazil sanderos have rs versions :/// a hot sandero with little to no comfort and a tuned suspension at a reasonable price would do amazing, as romania still has a lot of basis in dacia, not only in work force but also because of the price range of the car, being quite affordable even for a regular family.
@@sebastianmarcu4368 I wouldn't pick the 1.33 Tce, because of the extra stuff that comes with it (direct injection, fap, etc). I do hope however, that they will offer it with the new 1.0 Tce (3 cylinders, mpi) with 100 hp. I currently own the facelifted version of Logan MCV 2 (0.9 Tce), and if the new generation would be an improvement, just as it was for the Duster (but with better crash test) than I would really consider it as my next car.
Balázs Kovács I am the kind of person that wants as much power as possible in a car 😂 Of course, an affordable one. I think that Dacia disperately needed 150HP here in România, where nobody likes Dacia because it’s slow, you can’t overtake anybody and they also rust in such a short time.. Now, the power problem is solved, and I have a friend that is ready to buy his first Dacia since the 1310, because it has 150HP, which is just great for a car like the Logan (coming soon) and the Duster! Petrol, eco-friendly, Euro 6 with GPF (as far as I know), LG Multimedia System (sadly without Apple CarPlay...) with Bluetooth, USB, Aux-In and great navigation (at least here in România 😂❤️). And about what was this guy saying about Diesel... You just say shit. Of course the EV are the future, of course a petrol engine is much more clean than a Diesel engine (even tho an Euro 6 with AdBlue is much, much, much cleaner than most of the Euro 4 petrol cars here in România). And LPG?! That’s for taxi and grandparents, man. It’s shit, NO car guy would EVER, EVER, EVER install an LPG system on his car. Not even the poor ones out there!! Why the hell BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Mazda, Subaru, Lamborghini, Ferrari and basically everyone but Dacia doesn’t sell brand new cars with LPG?! I mean wtf, that’s shit. You must turn off the LPG if you want to drive your car at 7000RPM (something that every car guy wants, something that taxi drivers and old drivers doesn’t really want, so that’s good for them), because otherwise you will burn the hell out it’s valves. And turbo engines should see at least one redline a day, there are plenty of reasons to NOT install an LPG System to an 163HP Mercedes-Benz A200 2019, but I agree that there are plenty of reasons to install an LPG System to an 63HP naturally aspirated Dacia engine, that will be driven by an old man or used for taxi/Uber. But LPG it’s not for a car with more than 110HP 🤷🏻♂️ I have an 2016 Mercedes-Benz A Class (A200 - 1.6 turbo petrol - 156HP) Euro 6, with an 7 speed Automatic transmission with paddles and an 2015 Volkswagen Golf 7 1.6 TDI 105HP Euro 6 with an manual transmission. And I will never install LPG on my Mercedes, and I will never choose, as a car guy, an petrol + LPG car to the detriment of my 1.6 TDI Volkswagen Golf 🤷🏻♂️ I had it since brand new, and now it has 62.000km, and it’s awesome, it has a great fuel consumption (on my daily commute I always get about 3,6liters/100km, in my city (Brașov, România) I get in the worst case 6liters/100km, and if I drive like 150-180km/h on a family trip with 4 persons and lot of luggage, I get about 5,3liters/100km). And this car never costed me more for maintenance or fuel than my petrol Mercedes-Benz, that I also had since new, so... 🤷🏻♂️ Why the heck would I choose an LPG shitty non car-guy car over a Diesel that can be driven very, very fast without switching from LPG to petrol, turning off the AC and so on? I get it, more eco-friendly, but fuck this shit, EVs are comming fast, my next car will be an EV, I hope an 400km Range 2022-ish e-Golf. I am never going to have an LPG car. And the way I think is the way all real car guys think. Sorry 🤷🏻♂️ 7000RPM in an LPG is shit, you are poor and don’t want to admit this, and maybe you want to save the planet, even tho you are surrounded (at least in Europe) by Diesel cars, old petrol cars and the fact that you use LPG doesn’t save the plannet at all... And the fuel consumption.. Not all that great compared to a new Diesel engine.. and the pollution of an AdBlue Euro 6 2019 Diesel engine is not that big... So fuck LPG 🖕🏻 And fuck Euro 3/4 LPG cars, they are shit when we talk about pollution 🖕🏻
I remember when Hyundai was the new cheap kid on the block. I bought an almost new Accent for less than £6k in 2000. Look where they are now. I wonder where Dacia will be in years to come.
Not very far man... Romanians dont know how to capitalize and Renault treats Dacia like its retarded stepchild instead of doing what VW did with Skoda. At least they're cheap and sell well I guess... But you aren't gonna see for example an electric car from Dacia very soon
asb143 Totally agree. Rather spend £10,000 on a decent used Volvo estate or a Skoda Octavia than one of those personally. Still, it’s amazing that you get so much car for so little money.

Who wants second hand cars don't say it here. You want a second hand above any new car, not just Dacia. But still, if you prefer used cars, buy this 10k Dacia with 7000 after 1 year. Or compare a 2 years old Dacia at 5000 euro, with a 5 years old opel at 10k euro. Any way, the fact that you compare new Dacia with old other car, is because this is the only car valid to such comparisons.
Very good review. My wife has a sandero and I have a Skoda Octavia the sandero is a good little car for what it is. You have to buy one with your head and not your heart if you get it in Essential trim it makes perfect sense comes with all the basics covered air con etc and not as bad to drive as expected the little 900c three pot turbo is actually quite peppy its no way bear as frugal as the motoring press make out ours averages 45mpg.
10 and a bit grand is still a lot of money to most people, and would buy you a very nice specification and low mileage estate such as a C Class Mercedes, Skoda Superb, Ford Mondeo or Vauxhall Insignia. So unless you really want to buy a brand new car, why would you waste this huge amount of money on a Logan? For example, I bought a C250 AMG Diesel Estate with full leather which was just under 5 years old with just 16,000 miles and FMBSH for £9500, and it was like a brand new car.
You bought a Mercedes where if something breaks it will cost you a hand and a leg to repair it, while at Dacia the parts are cheap plus you have a guarantee because it is new and for 3-5 years (depending on the warranty) you do not pay anything if something breaks.
I am the owner of Dacia Logan MCV 1.5 dci for more than 1 year and half and I think that this car is the best which I had. My previous were Polish Fiat 126p, Polish Fiat 125, later Polonez with diesel engine 1,9 and Renault Megane 1,9 dti which the last I bought in 2000. Imagine that for driving 100 km by my Dacia I need only 3,7 liters of diesel.
How'd you get rid of rust on your 126p? Mine is covered and I can't seem to find a good way to get rid of it short of spending hours sanding and repainting the car

If u don't want to unlock with a key, buy a remote key system is around 100 pounds... u bargain a car for 10000 pounds and save 5000 or 7000 in comparison with competitor cars, but u can't spend $100 to improve the missing features? wooo, if you buy the car stripped down to 8500 pounds, and u put 1500 pounds in it, you can customize it the way you want inside and features missing, and recon better quality than whatever is given for the extra 3k for the medium from factory. @@hypervlogz9507 I don't find it slow at all. In any case it's not too slow for anything I do with it. Even in eco mode, it's acceleration is acceptable. If you're a speed demon, obviously buy a beamer or Merc. But if you're just after a decent, common sense car, Logan is perfect.
@@adamp2233 1.5 dci is easy to get power off, old logan's 1.5 are tested to around 120 with a chip, exhaust, intercooler, and increased pressure on the stock(!) turbo
The mid range acceleration from the dci is tremendous. If you want a sports car buy a sports car.

a refreshing, humorous and, to my opinion, as realistic as possible review of a car (brand) that is proving it made a great market decision - aiming at large portion of average consumers seeking for reliability, simplicity and reasonable price (steal-deal as you name it)....off course, I am probably a bit biased, driving a new Duster, but who cares, I simply love it :-)))
I've just bought a Logan Stepway Laureate 67 plate, 19k on it.. It's spotless, from a Renault main dealer, 12m warranty, full MOT, serviced, for 7.4k.. I'm very pleased . I got the stepway logan because I like the style and it has all the extra bits on it.. 0.9 model.
( Living in Central London it's a real pain to keep having to meet changing emission regulations.. )
This does and cover's all areas I want and a good deal..
I've a black Logan estate diesel , and I love it
great review of someone who is actually reviewing the car for what it is. a cheap car that some people actually want and can afford.
Much like the cars of yesteryear they have fewer gadgets and electrickery gimmicks. That makes them simpler to repair and more reliable as there's less to go wrong, just like the 70's cars I began driving with. I bought one of these yesterday, picking it up tomorrow.
Good review. The car market is more pretentious than fashion (except in a blokey way) . You nailed it
In Some countrys they sell Dacia Dusters as Renaults and asks a lot more then what you pay for a Dacia tbh so let us be lucky we lived in countrys where they sell it as Dacia 😊
To be fair, the Renault Duster is modified to be more premium than the Dacia Duster. I've used both, and it's quite true. Oddly though, the current Renault Duster is just a heavily facelifted previous gen Dacia Duster. The new Dacia isn't sold as a Renault.

What about it?“
Still lacks a lot of features 90s/00s cars had. Dacias are working class dad cars

"Dacia" is the old name for Romania so that car it's always romanian by the name ;)
Surprisingly comfortable
Better stereo. OK my volvo was nearing 20 years old and still had a tape deck/CD player, but for a cheap car, my Dacia has blue tooth, etc.
Electric front windows
Cons.
A bit slow. Screams its bollocks off at 75. Not a bad off the mark acceleration though. Managed to wheelspin it.
Interior is dull . Dashboard is ok, but door panels are just one colour and featureless
No aircon.
which engine is yours ?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PRONOUNCING "DACIA" RIGHT
I live on the Isle of Wight and recently bought a 2014 MCV Logan 1.5 diesel in Wolverhampton for £3500 .
You couldnt get much more car for your money but be realistic your not buying a cutting edge car.
you loose only 30 % of money after 3 years for a new Dacia ! for the others brands it looses 40 % at 50 % .
That is the reason you should buy 3 year old other brand car, rather than new Dacia.

Great review Ivan. I've owned and driven far more expensive cars and this offers so much more bang for your buck. As for people fretting over safety. What were you being transported around in when you were an infant?
We were lucky we survived in those old cars.

OK it has 15 km/h less highspeed and 25 horsepower less, but 3 liters less per 100 km fuelconsumption on gas and it is half the price. With LPG we get over 400km with 15 Euro of cost. Will the Dacia also break the 330.000 km like the Volvo ? Have i told you that the Dacia ist half the price of our last new car in 2004 ? Greets from Swabia in Germany
It's a new old car. It will be easy to live with as it's spacious but still small on the outside
Renault playing dirty tricks by only having the 1.5 diesel option and the weak petrol engines
@john jay thank s God ,I personally hate Diesel engine. Unreliable and costy

Or compare a 2 years old Dacia at 5000 euro, with a 5 years old opel at 10k euro.
5 years old Mercedes 9500 euro vs 5 years old Dacia 5000 euro. And i don't believe that 16000 miles are true.
You bought a Mercedes where if something breaks it will cost you a hand and a leg to repair it, while at Dacia the parts are cheap plus you have a guarantee because it is new and for 3-5 years (depending on the warranty) you do not pay anything if something breaks.
I had a Mondeo estate, it was a absolute piece of site, Turbo, fuel pump, brakes, on thing after another.

Forgot... "Woooooooo...."
It is not a family car if the crash safety is at the year 2004 level. Better buy a 2-4 year old used, but a proper car.
BTW, I drive a first generaton Sandero.
If you not drive like a fucking idiot and pray to god you will not crash.
@@bigouncer4029 Wrong.
It's not 2004 level. It's 4* at 2012, 3* at 2013. A 2007 5* car would get 0* today. We have evidence of this.
@@davidspencer7254 You don't understand car safety, my friend. Stars are just for show (for women).
Read the 2014 report in PDF for Logan MCV. Look at the 2014 crash test video. Look at the 2005 Logan video. The A-pillar deforms the same!
Only Duster has improved safety.
I do understand perfectly. It's safety profile is not at 2004 level, period.
Watching engine block dissapering in the rear mirror (waves hand heedlessly) "TEN AND A BIT GRAND!"
10 and a bit grand :D
Engine 1.6... "today, thanks to Brussels emissions" replaced by 3 cylindrical motors into garden mower 1.0 SCE 53 kW. Or also a new 1.0 TCE, or an old diesel 1.5 DCI. Car version combi, must have a strong engine!
My in-law lived with his brand new Logan until the known coolant fault with Renault engines blew his motor
10 and a bit grand...
Only 1.5dci
10 and a bit grand
10 a bit grand
