      I am also a citrus producer in Brazil but I don't speak English so it would help a lot if you have legends in Portuguese.

      I published a transcript. Maybe the Google translated transcript will be good enough to help:

    I thought for a moment, in the thumb nail, that it was Tina Fey.

      No, but Monique does have a good sense of humor and managed to get me to laugh about Argentine ants!

    Where can I learn more about training dogs to sniff out the HLB? My dog does nosework in Florida.

    Dan..I have a big fig tree in my yards. It drops a lot of fruit on the ground. I collected the dropped fruit and leaves to mulch my fruit tree. Do you think dropped fruit such as fig is attractive to ants?

    • @Fruitmentor

      The dropped fruit will likely be attractive to ants because of the sugar content, but they will become less interested as the fruit rots. What is most important is to keep them off of your citrus trees. The ants can cause problems for other trees also, but they are especially harmful to citrus because they protect the Asian citrus psyllids.

    What about IVOrganics painted on the tree trunk? Plus it has sunscreen.

      White paint on the tree trunk will not do anything against the Asian citrus psyllid because they feed on the newest flush of growth on the tree. Plant disease epidemiologist Neil McRoberts from UC Davis talks about that in this video: ua-cam.com/video/wFjjSOgEqVQ/v-deo.html
      The Surround product mentioned by Monique can stop the Asian citrus psyllid. It has been engineered to have a particle size to best adhere to the tree. However, when the tree puts out a new flush of growth it will again be vulnerable without a new spray of Surround.
      White paint can be useful to prevent sunburn on citrus trees that are newly pruned or defoliated from a frost. I like to buy the whitest possible water-based latex "oops paint" from Home Depot for 50 cents and dilute it with 50% water. I would avoid the overpriced paint from that other company. I have noticed that that company's UA-cam channel promotes incorrect information about citrus. In particular, I noticed that one of its UA-cam videos promotes air layering for citrus which is no longer allowed in California because it can lead to the spread of HLB and thus lead to the death of all of the citrus trees in California. The reason that I started my channel is to share correct information that could help to save our citrus trees. Many people have asked me to do a video on air layering. Georgios Vidalakis of UC Riverside explains the problem with air layering in the following video:

    If neighbors have issues and do nothing, their bad insects still come over to the yard that is treated. Constant battle for sure

      Yes. Neighbors who do not care about their trees can be a big problem.

    How to control citrus back die

      @Fruitmentor  5 років тому

      My understanding is that huanglongbing is called citrus dieback in India, so the advice in this video should be helpful. Controlling the Asian citrus psyllids and keeping them from feeding on new flush of a citrus tree is very important. This article mentions the name citrus dieback used for HLB in India:
