I start on Monday as a medical assistant in urology. I’m super nervous and keep watching UA-cam videos of Medical assistants. Any advice you can give me? Oh and I’m not certified so I’m coming in with no experience
Congratulations! Don't worry, everyone starts somewhere so don't worry about feeling like you have to know it all. Be patient with yourself and don't get overwhelmed. I would recommend just knowing where things are and what are the most common things needed during patient visits. You can start there and just get familiar with protocols. Sometimes the doctors or staff forget that someone is new and is still learning so don't feel like you need to have it all figured out. You will learn and get comfortable and will constantly grow your knowledge. BEST OF LUCK ☺

I really would have preferred a doctors office that wasn’t so busy. I just wanna do good and learn but don’t feel overwhelmed because I’m not at the level like the other ma’s
I wanna do this but they don’t pay well. You get way more in the cancer centers
hey! Im about to graduate high school and am so stressed out on what to do when i get out of school. I wanted to become an esthetician but realized they do not make much money. I want to work in cosmetic derm but im not sure how to get there or what tittles I have to have to work in cosmetic derm other than being a doctor or nurse. Any advice?
Hi Jessica. I think if you really want to become an esthetician you should do it. I've had other jobs and even started a different career based on money but if that is not your passion, you will not enjoy the work as much. If you do what makes you happy, going to work won't feel so much of a job; although everything has its own set of challenges. No need to stress. You can try different career paths throughout your life, just be passionate about what you give your time and energy to. Hope this helps & best of luck to you!
Sorry forgot to mention dermatology. You can work in a derm office as an esthetician, we actually have two girls in our office that do facials and the doctors may recommend them as part of their plan. You can always look at job postings to see what's available and even start as a front desk person with room to grow and expand as a way of getting your "foot in the door". I like the app Indeed to look at job postings

Hello! I am not a PA, but we do have a PA in our dermatology office who sees her own patients and does a lot of cosmetic work as well.
Do you get to assist with minor surgeries?
Yes! I do. Both medical & cosmetic procedures.
