Around 120% if you get the 3 skateboards it will usually kill by stage spiking and sending them up
yup! its def a good kill option at higher percents
You can jump once off the ground while using Side B, and potentially can combo off it into Up B, Neutral Air, and Neutral B at lower percentages (and possibly into some other attacks but I haven’t been able to consistently land them)
You gotta make more vids just playing jake your jake guide is by far the best I’ve seen in yt.

great guide! just wanna say two things i've seen about jake that may be useful (i don't play him but thought it could be worth mentioning)
1. isn't the side B a great kill move ? i remember i fought a jake as garnet (greatest closest match ive had btw lol) and whenever i got hit by the side B, it did knock back very hard
2. also, i remember you can cancel the 3rd skateboard hit's endlag if im not wrong? with a neutral dodge for example after the third hit, which would let you land another 3x skateboard at low percentages and in a lot of cases
i dont know about 2 but 1 is somewhat correct. it's a solid KO move tbh

dodge jump into bite does good for me, especially if i adjust with fastfalling
Horsey and Longpunch are my favorite moves. I like to do a Switch-Up with Horsey, if you jump over past an enemy and activate horsey in that direction, and INSTANTLY force the reins back towards the enemy that you just passed (within .3 seconds) Horsey will instantly reverse direction with the same speed.
and it really throws people off alot in my games...
Playing around with the directions of Horsey mid-charge can do alot of interesting unpredictable moves... its useful that Jakes hitbox is a fluid hurtbox...
I use Horsey quite often when I'm right on top of enemies to control the direction of people in 2v2, I force them apart at times by horseying in the direction I need them to go
Fastfalling is how I catch most people offguard with Horsey, which is kind of like the the Diagonal Houses... being unpredictable with the jumps helps... sometimes canceling a charge early just to psyche people out...
I think a good question to ask is: which moves can combo into a horsey or air horsey? and how can I stylishly KO off my beautiful steed? x]

Definitely the best jake breakdown video so far one thing to mention is that at very early percents horse can combo into bite by short hoping after using it to combo into bite

Just wondering, do you use dpad or stick?
no way you just passed up the horse that quick, get a hit with forward air then rush with the horse immediately and get a quick hit and then hit up special cuz people usually rush at you after that and when you hit them up you could either use neutral air, forward air, or up air depending on where they go
fr it’s an underrated move and good for combo starts. not to mention if you turn into a horse while hitting someone in the air it could lead to a ring out depending on their hp
I'd recommend for a nice surprise down air starter, doing a dodge jump to get over their head really fast. It does take some practice to do reliably.

yessir i do. depends tho. nair and sairs i use bumber. and then up airs i sometimes use square as i find it a bit faster
The stretch is not a head only hit box. And it's best use imo is to catch high damage enemies on the ledge to shoot them off the arena

I have trouble doing neutral airs. Is it because I use an xbox controller? Is there an option to fix that?
You have to bind a key for neutral. This is so much easier. I bind it on RT personally

11:48 how did you do those 3 nairs without starting the hammer attack? Been trying to do that myself but I can't get it consistently
you have to wait for the animation to finish pretty mich. its pretty hard to do

how can you down air without fast falling because i often miss it since im falling faster?
You can use the right joystick as attacks too. So instead of holding down on the left stick and hitting X or square, just hit down on the right joystick and it will do the down air attack.

That’s why I play other characters too. Find their weakness!
This only applies if you have a good connection

in this game its called "knockback influence". check the in game glossary. but yeah move in the opposite direction youre getting knocked back

Idk he gets killed easy and his down smash is low priority vs majority of characters. I love him but again a skilled player it's frustrating af

Came from brawlhalla and learned Tom and Jerry first out of the fun of it. Afterwards though (t500 in 1s on Tom) Jake seemed like the best to just abuse the spacing game that brawlhalla taught with it's much faster gameplay over smash. Can say I am pleased in my choice lol my tom/Jake are super even and great mixup characters from one another
What perk load out do you recommend
I know you drink hotdog water
horsie kills at like 140 and can catch peeps off guard. shieldbreaking dtilt is also strong and kills on the edge 130++. Its quite fast aswelll, making it something u can also use more often

Avoid the batarang and go for more horizontal attacks. Nairs and fairs are your best choice. Def do not go for down specials

Jake is super underrated. IMO he's more beginner friendly since his moves have such massive hit boxes and he's not super light.
He's crazy in 1s because he covers so much ground but he really shines in twos and is super well rounded for all situations.
