No, you aren't the only one. The song is deliberately ambiguous because they wanted it to get radio air play. RnB and urban stations played the hell out of this song. It was their first song to ever be #1 on the U.S. RnB charts. I would say only but their follow up single "I'll take you there" made it to #1 also but a lot of that was due to momentum from addictive love. That short run was the only time they spent at the top of the secular charts. This wouldn't have been the case if addictive love was explicitly talking about God, Jesus etc. No matter the interpretation though, it's a great song.

No, you aren't the only one. The song is deliberately ambiguous because they wanted it to get radio air play. RnB and urban stations played the hell out of this song. It was their first song to ever be #1 on the U.S. RnB charts. I would say only but their follow up single "I'll take you there" made it to #1 also but a lot of that was due to momentum from addictive love. That short run was the only time they spent at the top of the secular charts. This wouldn't have been the case if addictive love was explicitly talking about God, Jesus etc. No matter the interpretation though, it's a great song.
