As every Muslim should make a pilgrimage to Mecca in their life, every metalhead should make a pilgrimage to Wacken. 🤟 I was there 3 times, so Valhalla should be mine 😉
If you die in Wacken during a concert, Floor Jansen will take you to Valhalla personally, so i've heard ;)
@@caligo7918 that would be so cool 😂
Been there 17 times since my first time in 1996, but haven't been there a couple of years now ;-).
been there 7-9 times. But won't go anymore I think. It's more like a Circus for "Metalheads".
Really bro? In zulhijjah
The way winston smiles at the crowd, like he just cant believe its him on that stage..... i love it man. Best frontman ever hands down
I was somewhere in the back of the crowd, and hoooooly sh*t that was soooo fun. One of the best shows - if not even THE best - I've seen last year. At least on my opinion. Their entrance gave me chills. They were just walking through the crowd, flanked by guys with torches, epic music playing.
And the bass player was not on stage through the first song, but then his mum rolled him on stage in a wheelchair, because he had just recently suffered a broken knee. And then mum crowdsurfed for the first time in her life all the way back while everyone chanted "MUM! MUM! MUM!" 😂😂
Hahahahahahahaha. That's amazing!
Hell yes, Wacken 2019 was soooooooo craaaazy good. My first time, so many sick sick shows. That Parkway Drive still played while their bass player had a broken knee... wow
I was in 7th row - holy fuck, that was absolutly crazy :D
@@Thystonius Now I'm even more sad, that I couldn't go that year T_T fuck going to work xD
That's awesome! I love when the parents of the band are supportive like that. I was at a Sevendust show once and Clint brought his dad on stage and paid tribute to him for teaching him how to play guitar, then his dad played one of the set songs with the band. Truly amazing!
"Is the bass player in a wheelchair"
Is it even parkway drive if someone isn't?
Hahahahaha. Fair point.
Winston was still covering from a broken ankle, they tried to keep it secret 😉 that's why he was wearing doc martins.
Definitely check out The Void from the same show. You think there’s a lot of energy in this song?
Only better Live video on UA-cam from Parkway is home consert with Ricciardo :)
Yes!!! 💪💪
Still waiting! :(
The void from that show was badass too. The dude in the fuckin wheelchair!! 🤘🤘🤘 That alone is why you need to check out that video!
Love the drumming here. His blasts are like thousands machine guns firing at you.
Ben Gordon is awesome, especially when he uses his cage and plays overhead
I live 70 kilometres away from Wacken. It's unbelievable to have such an epic festival nearby :D
Meh, was going to say exactly the same thing even though for me it's 108km
@@gwaptiva I envy you, I need to drive 600km every year
@@Trutti94 About 900km for me, which is still comparably close.
Also, this performance last year was worth every. Single. Meter.
na dann halte Bier kühl...wir reiten alle ein wenn es ma wieder Festivals gibt 🤘🏻
me too :) I so much love this Festival!
It isn't just the Wacken crowd but Winston has an amazing crowd control. At point the ground was shacking he could and he did command the crowd and people just did it while in other acts they don't care. He asked for more crowd surfers all the time and he loved it. They are not as big as other artists but considering how this band played for 6 people almost twenty years ago and now they managed to do this and only with hard work and dedication and believing in themselves and their music is surprising for many. They deserve every big crowd they get honestly.
I love Parkway Drive. One of the best live experiences I've ever had. So glad they blew up a couple of years later! I'm not surprised this was played during the preds games. Hockey metal at its best!
Yep, the wheelchair is kind of an honorary member of the group
Winston is the greatest frontman of all time, from the lyrics to the interaction with the crowd and the performance, the guy just has the IT factor. Also, these guys are just so down to earth and seem awesome to hang with. Favorite band ever.
If you have never seen Parkway Drive, you have to go! They are phenomenal, one of the highest energy bands I’ve ever seen!
I love your reactions. Its not simply listening to a song. You show a lot of passion for music. You give a lot of intresting infos even fans might not know. Its like showing a song to a buddy. A cool buddy.
Fellow Aussie here, we were there in the mosh pit at Wacken 2019! They did well! Thank you you crazy Germans for hosting us!🤘🤘
in germany, we have a really big festival culture ... take a whole summer and join Full Force, Wacken, Summer Breeze as the biggest of their kind and many smaller festivals
The lead singer took such DELIGHT in singing about the end of the world with the audience. I hadn't heard of them before, just have seen the name in comments. We MUST see more!!
Many, MANY years ago, I got to see Billy Idol live in Ottawa. This was just after he had been in a motorcycle accident and had been told to NOT go on tour. Ha. So off he went on tour, with a cane. He spent the whole show hopping around on one leg, using the cane to hold himself up. Absolutely TERRIFIC show! He enjoyed himself immensely, and it came through. There was no way that he was going to listen to a bunch of doctors, he loved performing so much. I have to wonder what kind of pain meds he was on.
Wacken is one of a kind. The People, the bands, the shows. everything. still super bummed this year fell through but i cant wait to be back on the holy ground next year. Demons & Wizards live at wacken would be an amazing reaction. Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth and Hansi from Blind Guardian's brainchild (with other members of both bands on instruments) and a killer show.
that concert was so overwhelming, simply because the bandmembers themselves were so overwhelmed as well. It was such a cool atomsphere
Brother !! Parway is absolutley beast!! Idols and Anchors !! The river !! Crushed !! And by the way ...Get that peach fuzz growing
Please react to The Void from the same concert, it was my first Wacken but definitely not my last one
PS: Bass Player got injured playing football in Germany, his mom stagedived all the way from the front to the back at the beginning
Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹, keep up your great content
Jia's mum is a fuckin legend....she does shit like that all the time
You should react to them playing "Crushed" from the same show if you want to see some pyros ;)
I was eight times in Wacken in the last years, it´s so unbeliveble. No words can explane the amazing feelings and expierience at this place. Glad to see so many Wacken live reactions vids from you. Stay tuned and keep healthy. Greetz from Germany...
Danke!
Did some research for a Wacken trip. You can bring an RV, have shore power hookups, on site showers etc. All included in the ticket price of $65. Youre also allowed to bring in unlimited food and drink. And can have BBQs etc
As an american concert goer I am shocked and appalled at not being asked to pay $15 for an 8oz water. Shocked i tell you.
We already have to spend that money on gas prices, so we're glad that at least the water's cheap :D
One of my favorite parts of these videos of this set at Wacken is just watching Winston react to the crowd.
One amazing live video from Wacken is Heaven Shall Burn - Voice of the Voiceless from 2009. Crowd is going absolutely nuts. I have never seen anything like it in terms of crowd reaction.
I was in the second row. It was an unbelievable show....
You know you're a God when one of the biggest metal festivals ever is chanting your guitar riffs and then your name after the song
I never heard of them but my 1st time hearing the was actually live at wacken they were new to me and man im addicted they have alot of good songs
Bottom feeder is great
Chronos too
And void ofc how could i forget
If you check put Viva The Underdogs, they go into the fact that they are self, everything. Managed, promoted and they are in charge of all tours. They hire awesome people and have had the same people for a long time that keep them on track. But they have final word on everything. The amount of things that went wrong prior to this was spectacular. The fact that they pulled it off us amazing. One of my favorite bands!
Check out their song The Void, from same show. Also, both Saxon and Accept have played Wacken multiple times.
Btw - Powerwolf - Sanctified With Dynamite is a Wacken live
its crazy seeing this guys with a massive crowd like this because back in Aus i've only seen them in line 2-4000 people venues and they truly own the crowd no matter the size venue!
As a Wacken regular I was of course in that circle pit. Come on over to Wacken and have a drink in our camp!
🤘🤘🤘
I was there, it was huge! One of the best shows i've ever seen!
Good luck with the tickets to Wacken, they are already sold out for the 2021 edition. But you said it well, for metalheads it’s like a pilgrimage. Please, check out The Warning, i think you’re gonna be surprise. Greetings from Mexico!
You should see their walk out... they walked all the way through the crowd and up on the stage. They have a movie about headlining the show
Also if you don’t know architects you should give em a listen... studio or live they sound exactly the same
Ahh I'm so glad that I'm german
So I can go to all the amazing festivals, wacken, rock am ring, and many more ;)
Aaaaand fucking yes the crowd is, most the time, fucking amazing 💪🏼🤘🏼
I was at a pre-season game in Nashville in 2016, can confirm that Parkway Drive was running. Have a good one from Germany.
🙌🙌🙌
@@TankTheTech Sorry to say. Let´s go Pens! :-)
been there in the front...still goosebumps
I saw them in the UK, lights are pretty much their stuff. As rig was more or less the same. Think it was mainly SGM and Clay-Paky. They also have a lot of pyro during that touring year, lot of concussions, flame effects and waterfall FX. Was close to a rammstein show
You really should go to Wacken! I went 15 times, 1999-2014, and it was awesome. 2015 my wife got pregnant and now we have a small daughter. So we can't go in the moment. But after watching a lot of your videos, I´m hyped again to go to a big festival. So, thanks for your videos, you make me go to Wacken again :)
Great reaction Tank!! Definitely need to make Flashback Friday happen where you talk about bands you already know!! It is nice to see you break down gear and production on more familiar/ popular bands. love all the insight you have for this video :D GO PARKWAY!!!!
put it into context they were touring Australia like 2-3 times a year when I was in high school like 12-13 years ago doing shows with like 5k people.
Was there twice. 2002 and 2014. Both time it was awesome
Me and my girl was there that night, we stood just behind that circle pit in the beginning...The most insane feeling I have ever experienced to be honest. Even this recording doesnt do this justice... I miss this
Best live act in Metal 😱
I was at that show and let me tell you, it was every bit as epic at it looks like, right from the beginning when the band entered the stage by going through the crowd with security flanking them with torches.
absolutely, i have seen them on summer breeze and it was fucking amazing
I love that you add facts at the bottom that’s a really cool touch 😃🤘
They went up right before Motionless in White in Scranton at Apocalypse Fest this past weekend. I had heard of them but never listened to them. Needless to say they killed it, i'm now obsessed. Aside from MIW who always are great plus it was their home town, Parkway Drive blew my damn mind they were really good. Of the 8 bands, MIW, Parkway and The Amity Affliction were standouts of the day at a hardcore fest.
They are insane live. They connect with the crowd unbelievably, it doesn't matter if it's a big or a small one. I recommend you to check (just for you to see, it doesn't have to be for a reaction) their full show at Resurrection Fest in Spain. Or not the whole show, just Prey, it was the second song... OMG I was there and I can tell the earth moved 😎🤘
If have been to wacken since 1993, every year. Starting with 1000 people.
Just 40 km to go.
See you next year.
great guys and great atmosphere on their shows. seen em live twice headlining With Full Force Festival (Germany) and this was a blast. their energy ...wow...they had killer pyroshow setting the whole stage on fire, they had a rotating Drummer and all...it was hell of a Show...and so much Fun. remember my aching neck afterwards
thanks for this reaction
I've never heard a UA-camr say dislike if you didn't like it. Props to you, my guy
The Chronos live performance @Wacken 2019 was awesome. Unfortunately there is no live video. I saw it on a live stream on TV and that was the point where Parkway Drive got me :D
Swing from their Vans Warped tour is insane! Check it out, you'll love it! :)
Even though I've seen this video a lot, it was never so stark at how little pyro was in that video; and that was because everyone knew you were going to call that out. The irony is that PWD has crazy pyro! And they are quite open about the efforts that they put into production.
You want PWD style production and pyro, check out BOTTOM FEEDER LIVE, at anywhere. It's like if the Grand Finale from a 4th of July Fireworks battery could choose it's own soundtrack and entertainment.
Man, I'm already REALLY familiar with that song, but may watch it just for the pyro. 🤘
One of the best bands to do it! They know how to bring everyone together to have an UNFORGETTABLE time. I wasn't there at Wacken (Sadly) but I've seen them a few times and each one better than the last. They worked so hard to have what they have now, truly deserved. Nothing quite like singing those chants with your stranger family, and then bumping each others skulls in the pits! PWD always!
I saw parkway drive for the first time at a tiny pub down the beach in Melbourne, Australia yeeaaarrss ago (Chelsea Hotel for anyone who knows) wouldn’t have been more than a hundred people and I am SO proud of them for how far they’ve come 🤘🏻🇦🇺
THE VOID from the same show is INSANE!!
This was actually made for their new documentary called Viva The Underdogs and it’s absolutely EPIC
I’ve watched this set SO many times, the energy is just so contagious I LOVE IT. (I also love PWD, especially their latest album) Chronos, The Void, I Hope you Rot, Wishing Wells = give me chills every damn time)
Fun fact: I tried to win Wacken tickets for the entire summer of 2015 (4 tickets) off of our local radio station, called and entered online every day. Long story short, didn’t win but my mom called the radio station and yelled at them for not picking me LOL. I just think of that every time I watch Wacken set lists. 😂
Incredible reaction man. Really enjoyed you dropping actual facts. Please reaction to more Parkway videos. If you enjoy live videos, you are going to enjoy this band.
Watching again. FUCK I WANT TO SEE PARKWAY LIVE AGAIN!!!
Winston looks at the crowd like we look at him. It’s almost emotional.
I saw Parkway Drive at the Summer Breeze Festival in 2019, which was their last show of the summer tour.
It was also an absolutely "goosebumps" moment.
They've used also a few cool things for their bass player. He was lifted up by the song "crush" if I remember correctly (could be on "shadow boxing" or "writtings on a wall" as well)
And they had also a few show elemts like huge flames as well for example on "crushed".
Was an amazing show.
This song gets me so hyped.
Also, love the veil of maya track in the background at the end of vid.
Never underestimate German festivals crowds, even small festivals are a blast
I told my wife pre-Covid that in 2021 I wanted to take a family trip to Europe with her and the kids, but that I would veer off for a few days on my own for either Wacken or Hellfest. I think a “Tank the Tech” meet up there is a great idea!!
I'm trying to convince my wife to either take that trip or let me go, but we'll have a 4 month old by then so I don't know if it'll happen next year!
you havent lived until you have been to a parkway drive concert.. they put on the best metal shows ive ever been to.
75000 people is fucking insane. imagine the goosebumps the band had.
I saw them live at a hella smaller venue and no matter the size the energy is still the same. It will forever be the best show I've ever attended!
Another tank fact or two. The first woman you see body surfing is one of the groups mothers crowd surfing for the first time. If you want see production and equipment check out their viva the underdogs documentary. It shows some equipment. I used to be a stagehand back in 05 to 07 these guys are so down to earth and so thankful for their fan base.
This was the first time i crowdsurfed ever - at this song, at wacken .. it was a perfect moment😍
Nice to see some Miss May I love in the intro! :) I think Parkway Drives song Home Is For The Heartless would be a great song to react to, because it's really emotional :)
I wouldn't have guessed PD would headline Wacken, but they played at 10pm, so yes, deffo headliners. Mind you, Slayer played the same slot the night before, and I don't think anybody (except their hardcore fans) would put them into the same category as Slayer.
You have to keep in mind, that Parkway Drive are huuuuge in Germany and they have a really big fanbase there. So it is not that big of a surprise that they have got the headlining spot.
On their new live album they even recorded three songs in german, to show their love for Germany :)
You must see "The void" from the same concert, you must!!!!
We explain what happened to Jia's leg in the Viva The Underdogs movie. Def worth a watch. ;)
A friend recommended Parkway Drive to me just around the time IRE came out. Have'nt heard of them before, the name does'nt resally say "hey, we're a metalcore band". I like it thou. Then I found other bands like Winds of Plague, Thy art is murder and The Black Dhalia Murder. Im more of a melodic deathmetal type of person but i like this style too. Speaking of melodic deathmetal, Dark Tranquillity is coming out with a new album in november. The single..uhm..teaser..whatever, Phantom Days is phenomenal!
Make sure you buy your Wacken Ticket the day they become available. It's sold out on the first day sometimes^^
more wacken live reactions then would be sabaton at wacken 2019 and their song 40:1 be a perfect reaction as they are playing double stages as headliner with current and former members of the band. a lot of gear to check out.
I´ve been in the crowd and it was just awesome!! So Tank join the Pit in the future \m/
Glad that you liked this awesome show and band. From the same concert I highly recommend The Void - lot's of pyro and great sound. Keep up the superb reactions - I love them!
If you want to go to Wacken, you've got to be quick. Those tickets usually sell out shortly after the previous festival's over^^
But it's really incredible. The place is a tiny town with not even 2.000 inhabitants and every summer people from all over the world flock to this place in the middle of nowhere and freak out! You might want to check out the Wacken Firefighters! They're the local fire department brass band that's been opening the festival since 2000.^^
I listen to this live version multiple times a day. I prefer it over their regular recording. Hell yeah!
I get chills every time I hear that guitar into 🤘
Hellz ya! That was awesome! I have never seen crowds like Wacken.... ever! Amazing! Keep rockin’ it out! 🤘🏻❤️
if you really want to come to wacken one day be prepared to buy cards early ,they start selling short after the last concert ,and are sold out in a day or two ,due to the hardcap of 80000 people , but 150+ bands in 3 days is what you get lol
I saw them live for the....4th time just after reverence was released. Thy art is murder opened and Killswitch engage supported.....a highlight of every show since the song was released is Wild eyes.....it's an amazing experience to do the guitar riff chant...
This concert was fucking insane. They were having their time of their life's headlining wacken. At least thats what it felt like. Saw them again 2 weeks later at summer breeze. Same energy. They always deliver.
Parkway Drive is awesome. Those moshoits were brutal. Kind of insane seeing this now and thinking back to the festival. God I miss Wacken/festivals in general.
If you come to Wacken I will make sure to bring beer to the Meet up. :D
It's weird an Aussie band who base most of their touring crew, recording and record label all out of Germany and because of this German Metalheads really like them.
In Europe they generally sell out arenas 12k-15k people. Slightly smaller venues in the US with slightly less focus on the US weirdly.
Always instant goosebumps when i see it! Was one of my best Festivals ever!
you mentioned that Parkway seems way bigger than you thought - Heaven Shall Burn, which you mentioned in your Eskimo Callboy video, recently managed to get their latest record to number one, too.
Seriously? That’s impressive. I need to get back into HSB. I haven’t listened to them in at least 10 years.
@@TankTheTech yeah, their 2010 record was the first one to crack the top 10 at place 9, 2013 did go up to 2 and then 2016 number 3. Then earlier this year number 1^^
i stood in the front, hands down one of the best acts that weekend. and that says a lot when there are 200+ acts
I can’t even put into words how fucking incredible it is to be in a parkway crowd when they headline. Holy fucking shit
It was fcking nice to see this live last year :)
saw them two times ... no band i ever saw was this good on stage, also the live master/mix is insanly good !!!!
Great reaction! Enjoying watching a dude who's actually knows what he's talking about.
Best thing about wacken is, that its just a 30 minute drive from where i live, like other festivals (Hurricane, Southside, Deichbrand... all festivals in my area) Living the dream :D
Thanks man!
Epica - Sancta Terra
Hevisaurus - 100
Edguy - The Piper Never Dies
Avantasia - The Scarecrow
Twilight Force - Enchanted Dragon of Wisdom
Any of those would be great imo.
Never thought Parkway Drive would give me goosebumps, but fuck that crowd o.O amazing.
Winston is such a badass and this live album in the car will make you forget anything else exists!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Thoes first 3 notes were enough to get me in the pits. Without a doubt the best band ive seen live also really nice guys to chat to before a show too, they have alot of time for fans
