It’s all SO lively and tasteful ! I have a small kitchen which although a few tweaks are needed , I love and wouldn’t have any bigger ! and I think you’re small kitchen is adorable and I love it ! I notice in Europe they seem to still embrace the “live within your needs “ approach to homes and kitchens . Americans LOVE their big kitchens here 😂
You and Olaf work so cohesively and definitely in sync with one another. It is so inspiring to see a plan for the future come together. Anything good takes time. 4 years is a long time but so worth it. Your space and style is beautiful to see. Have you ever thought about reading books or storytelling on video? You speak with a gentle and clear voice with the right tempo. I always look forward to your next video. Bless your family in all your endeavors.
Oh thank you for saying that! I used to be a singer but actually have little issues with my voice quite often… which is why I quit so I didn’t have to stress about it
Loving another visit to your beautiful french farmhouse with the simplicity and gentleness of the decor. The only brightness is Tigret's orange stripes. ❤
You & Olaf create such beautiful tranquil spaces together. It’s wonderful to watch it all taking shape & all at your own pace. Thank you for sharing your life with us. 😊❤
You really have a gift for capturing the essence of French country living in a way that is so pleasing to watch. Of course, your home is beautiful, and the surroundings are breathtaking, but your ability to create these little films that are so perfectly edited, scored, and presented is quite remarkable.
I know you won't ever give up until it's all done. All your followers are so grateful that you have shared your journey with us. When you are retired you will look back at this time and wonder how you did it all. You will shake your head in disbelief. Well done to all of you. X
He does! He is definitely more resilient physically than I am. I ask him so often how he manages to keep going, but fortunately he also allows himself to rest. We knew this was going to be a 10 year project when we started and so we make sure we don't wear ourselves out. Step by step and enjoying the journey!
Goodness! I would be content to live in that space as it is. You style it so simply but beautifully! I love that you picked wildflowers to grace your table. Its the little things that make the biggest impact and show your family love. . You care about the details. ❤️
You both work so hard, but it will be worth it. Once you placed the wildflowers on the table and served your homemade dinner and Tigrette is snuggled on the couch that says home. Lovely vlog as always.
So much hard work but so exciting! You certainly have had to be adaptable. I can't wait to see as the work progresses and the spaces become homier and homier!
Lot of hard work...we bought, remodeled and resold when we were young...honestly for the money. It was difficult and never-ending but worth it. This is your home and land...so much more important. Continued success to you in the future.
I admire your stamina and perseverance, as well as your incessant striving for perfection which resulted in an idyllic family home and a profitable business. 💪🏻💪🏻 Apart from all of the hard work, you have taken the Dutch Golden Age to a 21. century level by transporting it to Burgundy and by recreating the aesthetic and architectural appeal of that age in such a magical way, that the spectator is drawn to it and tempted to linger on forever. I can‘t help but being mesmerised by what I see and I suspect other viewers feel the same way. Thank you for taking us on this wonderful journey with you. 😘
There is something calming about this type of decor ,in a world that is very hectic i feel we need a space that can give us a feeling of home were we can retreat from the madness around us ,lovely home !
Even not finished jet, it already looks so cosy. Hard work, but it will be so beuatiful! Love that painting with the bread, you recently found. Looks great there.
Hi Marloes. I've been watching your videos for months, one after the other. I just got to this part and now I'm writing to you that you are a role model for me. But not only you, but also Olav and your whole family. My love and I live in Hungary, in Budapest during the week, but every weekend we go to our country house, which also includes a barn and outbuildings. We want to renew every part of it, and for that it's great to watch your inspiring videos. Many thanks to you and, of course, to Olav. I also follow his channel because he explains the workflows very well. We have been to Burgundy before, but I hope we will be able to visit you one day in the future.
Thanks it's a delight to see what your both are working towards making your home so beautiful ! It's a credit to you both regards Lesley in anglesey 🙋👍
Hello Marloes, it's been so long since I've watched one of your videos and it was lovely to come back to your channel and have so much to catch up on. You're both doing such a great job on your renovations. I agree with you that from time to time it's important to take stock of everything you've achieved. I do that too, to remind myself that Rome wasn't built in a day and where we stand now is imperfectly beautiful. Congratulations on completing the Cook's Cottage ❤️
@@FrenchCountryLife I agree, it is so beautiful. Really windy roads but so full of trees and valleys. I love it here. I'm delighted you enjoyed it too!
O thank you so much for sharing that! We have so many peaches on that tree and have only had one or two in years before but the leaves indeed always get this disease. How do I apply your solution? And when, how often etc? Thanks in advance for your help!
It must be wonderful to have all your youthful energy, so flexible and tolerant of change and inconvenience! I'm afraid that time has passed for me and I've missed my window for buying and renovating a character property.
Never too late if one has the means and reasonsable health😊 In any event, to dream is good for one's soul and even if they aren't realised, we can live vicariously through lovely channels such as this!
That kitchen will be an amazing space.. your old kitchen is quite cute.. I think the journey is as important as the destination.. thanks for sharing this with us 😊
Great to see Tigrette having fun. It all looks great. Cannot wait to see the final look. Wonder if you will move the new range to your home side of the building.
I just love your big, wooden table! 10:22 😍 Your home is amazing, it's fun watching it come together! Wishing you a great weekend! Greetings from sunny Vancouver!
Me too! It is made of old floor boards from French trains (but we bought it at an antique shop in The Netherlands) and using the legs of an antique tool (we're not sure what kind). It is extremely heavy but so beautiful! We bought this one for this house when we thought it would be our second home, we have another one that we had in our home in The Netherlands but the legs broke during the move...
So happy to see you and Olav posted 2 new videos! ❤️. Love how it is all coming together and ❤ your painted furniture. May be too late to mention, but you can buy inexpensive moving harness straps to move heavier furniture and it saves stress on your back. I know you will fell sore after moving because of your previous accident. One question, are you going to purchase a second refrigerator for the cottage?
@@FrenchCountryLife can’t wait to see it all finished, you both have worked so hard to achieve your dream. I’m a new subscriber and have been binge watching your channels, living vicariously through your adventures! Marloes, I cannot get enough of the nature views in your surroundings. The table setup at the end is lovely. I am also concerned when I see you carry such heavy objects (wardrobe closet, doors, etc.). I suggest you let the males do heavy lifting :) 🌺
Thanks! Yes I shouldn’t be doing that… but I am also grateful that now I CAN, knowing where I’m coming from after a car accident. But it isn’t good for my body so you are right… I shouldn’t be doing it. Fortunately the boys help a lot but they were in school that day and we were determined to make sure the house looked nice(r) when they’d get home.
It was! A friend taught me to add something with fat in it (in France so I’ve been told they traditionally add milk) to take the nutrients out of the nettles, just using water and no fat doesn’t allow your body to take the nutrients. I’m not an expert but my friend is so since she told me I stopped making nettle tea and make soup instead to benefit from all the goodness!

The couches need to form a conversation “pit” ,or not May be not you want. Most people tend to “line” their walls for better open space but I prefer not yell across a room at my guests.😅
Thank you for sharing your views! This is just a temporary space and we will only use one couch. The kitchen will be where the other one is, it is just waiting there until we can put it in the cottage.
