This is very nice. Top quality as usual.
Please mention to the editor of the vids that sometimes the editing is too fast and makes me dizzy and nauseous.
I would like to suggest watching two sources for video editing:
Round Midnight movie by Bernard Tavernier. Watch the way the musical segments are shot and the edits in between players.
Stop Making Sense by Jonathan Demme. Watch the way the entire concert is shot and how long the camera and the edits linger on the performers.
These two are, I think, the best examples of the way music is presented in a visual medium. Both seem to flow musically in a visual sense and have a pleasing, calming effect on the viewer.
In any case, I am a very big fan of your series from San Francisco, California and watch every new vid that comes out.
I hope to someday visit Japan and watch these fabulous performers live and in person. Keep going!!

Thank you for the wonderful compliment!
Really appreciate the suggestion for the video editing and reference material!
Will definitely pass on the word to the chief video editor.
Fyi, he also mentioned that making the sequence fast and frequent tends to make viewers more attracted to the film since it's harder to process the information in such a short moment and makes you want to come back to the video repetitively and check it out again.
Even I, the player myself sometimes look back to see what was exactly going on on the spot!
There'll be more new musicians and performers to come, so stay tuned, and don't forget to subscribe to support us!
      Greetings from Osaka/Japan!

"Please mention to the editor of the vids that sometimes the editing is too fast" I recently noticed that, too. What they did some month ago was better : we had more time to see the musicians playing... But on this one, it's not bad 🙂

@@OsakaJazzChannel The speed of the video edits don't suit jazz music. It might be fine for MTV style edits which is the way editing is done for any kind of music these days. In your case, you present straight-ahead jazz musicians playing classic jazz in an acoustic setting and the speed by which the cuts are made don't serve to support the music or musicians. There is already enough energy, grace and power in the quality of musicians you presented beautifully on this channel. There is no need to add anything extra to what is here. I should also mention that people who return to this channel do so because they want to hear their favourite artists perform once again. We are all jazz fans who visit and we all probably have our favourite albums we've collected in the past and listen to them over and over even though they might be in an old format like vinyl or cassettes or even CD's. I can tell you that I still have vinyl copies of Weather Report Heavy Weather, Aja by Steely Dan and John Abercrombie's first record with Jan Hammer and Jack DeJohnette. I still listen to them and return to the experience and I find that I am doing that with your ever increasing library of videos from these wonderful artists. Your videos will take on a timeless feel if you allow the camera to move fluidly, slowly and capture the musicians at work without the unnecessary, artificial excitement induced by fast edits.
Thank you for your work once again. I look forward to more in the future. Keep going!!

Takashi - Can you please do an interview (with translation/English) as to how you organize these many sessions and with many differing combinations of musicians? What kinds of problems have you encountered, and how have you solved these issues? I'm a drummer in central America, and very much enjoy your excellent ensemble drumming. You guys and gals all know the tunes, and are well prepared. Are there rehearsal sessions with each group of musicians. Are the charts all standard ''Real Book'' (sixth edition) charts? thanks, man !! Dig your trading-4's! Nice phrases.

    • @OsakaJazzChannel
      @OsakaJazzChannel  7 місяців тому +1

      Appreciate the detailed comment!
Regarding your request about an interview, we are not currently planning any videos other than the performance videos currently going on. (Considering all the time that might cost us for the planning and editing etc...)
However, we are very happy to hear that you're enjoying our videos and performances all the way in America.
      Answers to your questions :
      - How you organize these many sessions and with many differing combinations of musicians?
= We're lucky to have all the talented musicians currently working around the Kansai area(Kobe, Osaka and Kyoto) and I (Takashi Kuge) happen to have connections from performing over 10 years with all the musicians.
      - What kinds of problems have you encountered, and how have you solved these issues?
= There has been and currently are problems and issues trying to get the event go on, musicians to come play for us, shooting the videos and editing them.
The sound you hear in our videos are personally recorded and mixed/mastered by Takashi Kuge. The Video shoot and editing are all supervised by Hironobu Takagi - our chief camera producer/editor that is a former drum student of Takashi Kuge.
Thanks to his love, passion and attention that makes our videos as lively as is.
      - Are the charts all standard ''Real Book'' (sixth edition) charts?
= The musicians were particularly called in and assembled specifically for the day, so we usually go with anything that the front musician or vocal that brings the charts.
It could be something that we agreed to play without any charts (by memory), something from the "Real Book" as you've mentioned or something that was arranged and writtened by one of the musicians in the video.
Check out the description if you're interested since the arranger's names are mentioned in there.
We occasionally have musicians even meeting for the first time on the day, so that even makes our performance more lively and thrilling.
      ================================
A pleasure to hear you're enjoying the drum performance too!
Don't forget to check out our upcoming videos too!
      Greetings from Osaka, Japan!
