If you have HBO max you should watch the entire show. What you have to remember about the show and characters is they are all satire. It is satire on American racial culture as a whole and black culture in particular. If you watch the episode "the color Ruckus" it explains everything about Uncle Ruckus and how he became the racist psycho he is known for.
I never could get into southpark. I watched it so many times & tried. But it just didn't do much for me. Now Aqua Teen Hunger Force is funny as hell & The Boondocks is just hilarious. I remember when this show came out, it was insane that they aired it on Adult Swim.
This kind of comedy walks a fine line, and the problem is that where the line is different for different people. Comedy like this and South Park and so on relies on "crossing the line twice" to work, with the idea being that it's so outrageously offensive that it's hilarious. Sometimes it falls short for some people and only crosses the line once, which means it just ends up being so offensive that it's bad. And sometimes a work just goes way, WAY too far and just ends up coming across as pointlessly gross. But since everyone has different lines, you can't make comedy to suit everyone.
@@ArcaneAzmadi It's not that southpark was offensive to me. Trust me. If you can watch ATHF, you can stand anything. That show is just everyone brings a rocket to a fist fight. If ATHF doesn't represent comedy, nothing does. I just thought southpark was especially stereotypical. It's an older program that I thought wasn't offensive enough to grab my attention. The sarcasm was dull & it never attacked constituents directly. Which I thought was cowardly. I mean it's comedy. If you can't burn some asses while addressing issues in the process, it loses it's audacity & for me & that's just boring. I think family guy actually addressed this issue in the more mainstream arena than most. That's why it held it's ratings for as long as it has. One of the main reasons why it couldn't be debuted on Fox. It originally had to be ran on Adult Swim for a while, to see if it could survive the backlash. Which it did. American dad, same deal as southpark. Bland, dull & played out. The animation from the same graft as family guy. American dad sucks, but I could watch family guy all day. Southpark just isn't funny to me. I mean I always enjoyed chef's chocolate salty balls song. But that's music. Different arena of comedy. Southpark animation was too one dimensional for me. There are shows that can pull off this kind of concept. Simplicity in animation can work, if it's done right. Sealab 2021 is on the same level as ATHF. Just a different animation type. Basically cut & paste. Use the original animation & manipulate it & the audio. Done. But the comedic overtone was incredibly offensive to any & everyone watching. And that's how comedy should be. People these days are far too sensitive. But these two programs are on entirely different levels of comedy. Southpark is safe jabs here & there. Very 'late night show'. Boondocks is heavy haymakers to the same topic exclusively, but with the ability still to offend everyone's sensibilities. Which evens the playing field. And everyone has fun in the process. Now there are one note programs that are just simply exclusively offensive to one topic & one group of constituents. But they're few & don't make it long. After the first punchline, bored to death because I can already see the rest of the act & it's all the same joke. But that doesn't mean there isn't some small audience that would enjoy it. It doesn't matter how many times you cross a line. Everyone has lines. But there's a time & place for comedy. And it usually starts about 11pm only on [Adult Swim]. 💎🤙🤙 [AS]➿ 💪🦉 🧸🪓
Me myself Southpark wasn't for me I tried to watch it several times, but I couldn't relate to it,but this show Is hilarious to me. You need to just sit and watch the show, not clips cus your not getting the whole story with just the clips, uncle Ruckus is one of the funniest characters ever you would have to watch his backstory to understand.
The issue with a clip segment and reactions to the shock are not doing the show any justice. This was well a head of its time,a social deconstruction similar to the satirical nature of The Chappell Show. By only watching these clips you don’t get the nuance of the joke On a side note you can laugh...you’re not earning any social justice points hating on Uncle Ruckus
I wish we could bring this type of comedy back.
People are too sensitive
@@bethanyhenry9387 .... what in the Dave Chapelle are you talking about
@@billyjenkins7733 the things that boondocks use to say you can not say that tv no more because you will get cancelled
@@xldaelx3673 Dave Chapelle makes joke just like this show did and he hasn't been "cancelled" and many other comedians to as well.
uncle ruckus, stink meaner and A pimp named slickback are the best characters in the show
One thing that will help you understand stuff about the show, is actually watching the show, and not just random clips.
I love this show ahahaha. Uncle Ruckus is on another level 😂
I’m black and I think Ruckus is hilarious.

Agreed… he’s gotta get the context of these clips. As funny as they are, there so much better in context
