7:45 Removable disk packs were actually feasible to carry around--or at least between the drive and a rack in the same computer room. Maybe 10-15kg?

We speak about an era when geek and nerd needed muscle to change software

6:48 The very first Apple Ipod had a tiny hard drive in it, I believe made by Toshiba. There was this brief window around the early ’00s where there was a market for very small hard drives, until flash memory came along and wiped them out.

6:52 Unlikely to be an SSD, with that characteristic circular hub in the middle. I’d say it’s a hard drive.

3:55 Imagine that--a physical sign with hyperlinks!
    Seems inevitable in retrospect, really...

So Cool! Hey is there a working model of this 1964 computer called FLODAC patent 3190554 out there? It used air to do digital computation and I want to make one using 3D printing.

An image of the FLODAC is hard to find but it exists in bad quality on a pdf document that I have

@@jayc2469 That's what I have , just an image of sort or rectangular blob. I've asked around at various computer museums, but no reply. I still like the idea of a FLOWDAC being made with 3D printing tech that could compute something like logarithms. Make a cool You Tube post to be sure. Thanks for your reply. ( Google the FLOWDAC patent number and check out the links for all the other designs for digital computers using air for computation. It was quite a fad!)

In my search for the FLOWDAC I sent an info. packet to Fran and she talked it up on her You Tube Channel. It starts at 8:10 ua-cam.com/video/5qgxsJp8MZk/v-deo.html . If you give me an address I'll send you a FLOWDAC info pack

They don’t need to. The wonderful thing about science is that it works whether you believe in it or not.
