CIYCL YIDDISH CULTURAL PROGRAMMING: Excerpted interview with Theo Bikel

Theo Bikel was born in Vienna, Austria where he grew up speaking primarily Yiddish. During the War, Theo and his family were able to escape to Israel where Theo began his acting career. By the time Theo had arrived in America, he was already and established actor and folk singer. Theo became most known for his roles as Baron von Trapp from The Sound of Music and Teyve from Fiddler on the Roof
