WHAT. A. COMEBACK. The second-biggest in AFL Finals history. The first quarter was all Bulldogs and full credit to them for that quarter, but when the margin was as high as 41 points (and probably should've been more given they kicked six goals and six behinds), Fremantle looked dead and buried, and should not have let the margin get to as high as that, but instead of lying down and accepting defeat, they knew what had to be done. They didn't give up and they dominated the Dogs from that point onwards (eleven goals to two in favor of Fremantle) since that massive lead and Freo gave them the old heave-ho and stopped at nothing. They went from shockers in the first quarter-and-a-half to rockers afterwards. Rock on.
For the Fremantle Dockers, way to go in extending David Mundy's wonderful career by at least another week and another chapter is added to their Finals story. A date with Collingwood at the Melbourne Cricket Ground should make for a fantastic Semi Final. Can Fremantle #DoItForDave and go all the way? Only time will tell. Good luck, Collingwood.
For the Western Bulldogs, it is all over. Their Finals story has reached the end, but they worked hard to even get there in the first place courtesy of a late-season double-collapse by the Carlton Blues. Kudos to the Western Bulldogs for making Fremantle really work for the win. Some of the Dogs supporters were gracious in defeat. Massive respect to their fans for making the trip across the Nullabor to see them play at Optus Stadium.
The vibe of this game was truly epic beyond belief. What was destined to be a one-way street transpired into a 54 point turnaround (One of the greatest in AFL Finals history) and maximum pandemonium and euphoria both within the confines of Optus Stadium and beyond it throughout Australia. The emotions were everywhere in this one. Week 1 AFL Finals 2022 the greatest week of AFL Finals of all-time. 4 absolute belters.
What about the 120-point turnaround in the 2007 grand final?

I was there Last Night and when i say Unbelievable, The Comeback was pretty much impossible in Finals Footy, The Crowd was Electric, The Players were giving their all, What a Game and Defiantly Deserved
I watched this game last night. I don't barrack for Freo or the Dogs but this was still one of the most exciting games I've ever watched. The crowd reactions were the icing on the cake 👏
I see it but I don't believe it, what an incredible fightback from the dockers.
I just started really watching footy this year and this is my 1st exposure to the AFL finals series. All 4 matches have been mind-blowingly brilliant! Such drama and excitement. Would a more seasoned AFL fan tell me how this year's finals series, so far, compares to others in the past? I love ice hockey, nothing better than NHL playoff hockey, and what I just saw over the past 3 nights/mornings puts Australian football right up there in my book. I'm hooked. Even though game times are 2 or 3AM, I'm watching every game in the finals.
Yeah i love the footy too although as a bulldogs supporter I'm pretty disappointed! Compared to past finals these ones are definitely a lot more close and exciting! Also, last year's finals had similar teams to this year and the grand final was Bulldogs v Melbourne (Melbourne finally won after 54 years!)
As a American I am amazed more people do not love this sport more outside of Australia , I know politics, tradition, and economics have a lot to do with how popular different sports are world wide but if Australian Football had half the money and marketing Association Football has had in the US (Billionaires throwing hundreds of millions of dollars over decades) it would be our 5th major spectator sport we have about a dozen mid major sports but is hard to get the level of the four major, this sport could do it.
Agreed. It’s the best spectator sport on the planet
While I do love American sports and played them, Australian football is the best game on the planet
Well done to Fremantle. To came back from 41 points down and a belief they could still win. Scored 7 goals in the second half and kept the Dogs to two. Dogs couldn't handle the Freo pressure. Amazing comeback given it was looking like a Freo thumping in the first half.
This is my 12th time watching the recap 💜⚓ just can't get enough of it. 💜💜💜💜💜💜
6th for me
Congrats Freo for beating my dogs, definitely wanted it more now go on and win it for Mundy flagmantle
Thanks mate doggies will be back and better next season 👍
@@kermitthefrog4462 hope so 🤞
What a win! Every finals match so far, intense, no matter the score difference at the end.
Outstanding comeback from the Dockers! Michael Walters was heroic for his team!
The FINALS have been great so far. The footy is top notch
Congratulations freo well deserved such a great push in all 3 quarters hope to see the exact same thing against Collingwood good luck
What a comeback from the boys! Let's go freo
Goosebumps just watching it and we were there ..!!! ❤️

Freoooooooooooo wat a game absolutely sensational came back from 41 points down and turned game around around and how about having 18 young fellas with NO finals experience the noise from the crowd says it all that’s how you play the game sent the the vics back home with there tail between there legs literally haha
I love watching this sport. I live in the states but I don't get to watch the matches until 6 in the morning

Q: How to choke a 41 points lead
A: Be like the Western Bulldogs

Was just about to Turn the TV off After the Doggies kicked their 6th Goal ! What a comeback !
Watch the goal umpire in the last quarter as Drissy kicks the sealer, stands feet apart as the kick starts its journey ,then without moving his position comes to a military position feet together as the ball sails straight over his head
great match

Good win for Flagmantle 💜⚪️💜⚪️💜⚪️
Full credit to Freo, but the game became 18 against 12 as six of the Western Bulldogs players lost interest in winning. Naughton, Ugle-Hagen and Darcy are tall but none could hold a mark. Vandermeer and Weightman went MIA. And Cordy reverted to his usual grass watching instead of minding his opponent.
There is no reason to be optimistic about about the Bulldog's future until the coaching staff problem is corrected, until the lame-brained strategy of zoning is dumped.
Freo played a VFL level team and deservedly won. They will play an AFL team next that won't lose its appetite to win after the first quarter.
comeback for the ages
how do yu choke that bad
also impressive to see freo finally pullinig more than 55k fans against an interstate team
lol it was a Final course it was gonna be 55k
Bro Ong
Half the crowd were probably west coast supporters anyway.. They flip loyalties real quick
It pleasures me watching the Doggies Choke.
As a dogs supporter it’s was hard to watch in the second half. Overall a very good game. The dockers have a huge chance against the pies.
Will be fascinating to see If Lobb ends up going to the western bulldogs next year and how he will fit in their line up.
It will be interesting to see if Lobb can fit into the Dos line up. You already have Norton, so Lobb seems like another of the same type of player. A bit like the Crows problem of having a lot of midfielders who go in and get the ball, but no one to give it off to as they are all in-and-under players. Unless they plan to play him down back.
Beware the Lobb from a freo fan. He will bring you wins but also frustration on a level you didn't think was possible
@@floydgondolli7321 lol good luck next week. I think Freo can get over the pies.
Lobb would be an asset to any club; but if they recruit him instead of addressing the problem of a poor defense, he will find himself in a mediocre team.
@@TheBinaryWolf Lobb does what Lobb wants regardless of form. Seriously you can't coach him or make him do things. All I know is when he decides to have a good game you usually win
Dogs went to sleep. 5.5 to 0.1 at quarter time, you shouldn't lose from there but the Dogs took the foot off the gas thinking they'd just be able to walk it. Well done Freo, but terribly coached by Bevo. Never take your foot off the throat in a final
I think Freo lifted a gear & Doggies couldn't match it
All Bulldogs did was snap it as high as possible every time. Freo defenders thrive on that
I was there it was nerve racking(I’m a freo mega fan)🌺
Shocking by the Bulldogs. To cough up a 41 point lead like that. The game looked theirs. Their list and coaching needs a review. I feel sorry for Bont. To have to carry that team. He and Dunkley were best by far. The Dogs are frustrating to watch. There's so much that needs fixing.
They get in each other's way when marking. They spoil each other!! They need better communication and spacing. There's selfish players thinking about individual glory, players being too cute, unrealistic and mis-timed marking attempts, woeful decision making, poor inside 50 work. Forwards need to create space instead of wanting the ball and the entries need to be better.
Bro bont deserves more
@@gwilkes5325 I feel his pain. I could see his frustration during the game. He is probably exhausted from carrying this side.
Bevo has a learning disorder. He has players minding vacant areas of the field when the opposition has control of the ball, instead of manning up; so that the opposition must kick to a contest.
@06:48 'Get a Cape on him!!!!!' What a brilliant call
amazing win
My cousins barrack for Bulldogs and I went to their house to watch the Match *I knew Freo would win*

@@floydgondolli7321 Freo, made one good comback!
I remember at the ground everyone celebrating the first goal extra loud and almost jeering the team. It actually lightened the mood imo
Not even the umpires could get the Doggies over the line last night
Ha ha they tried though
Magpies vs Dockers at the MCG next week
East win for Collingwood like it was last time
Can't wait for this game. Battle of the ferals. Hopefully as many Freo fans can get to this game as possible to stir the pot up bigtime and serve it up to the toothless.

lmao. how do u choke a 41 point lead?
I just don’t understand, our current lineup is so much better than this team yet we couldn’t make the 8 whereas this team made a semi, the boys just gotta believe.
Ivan Drago killed it!
I’m American and just starting to really watch and understand this game. Can someone please help me? 6:08, why was Fremantle awarded 50 meters?
I think that was when another opponent wandered into the protected area. When a player takes a mark or is awarded a free kick, only one opponent can stand on the mark in front. All other opponents must stay at least 5 meters away, until the player taking the kick kicks the ball, or steps off the line.
Dogs have some problems beautiful from the dockers.
