Great vid - thanks. Will definitely use them once back on the road. Hit a piece of metal in FL on I-75, punctured my diesel tank and drained out 40 gals 😫, took 11 days to get a fuel tank replaced and Walmart was so kind to let me drop my 5th wheel on their property (Oxford, FL), 11 nights in a hotel w/wife & 2 dogs. Got back on the road & next day brake/turn signals did not work on trailer. Repairman found the grounding wire became disconnected somewhere towards the rear, added a new grounding wire and now back on the road. Glad HE doesn’t give us more than we can handle! Love the videos you both produce. Semper Fi!
Just bought my Thor Majestic 2 weeks ago. I found this comparison searching on RVT vs Dyrt. Thank you for such a concise explanation of the two. I ran out of my free trial for RVT yesterday after 12 day loop from Colorado to Philly & Boone NC and back. I found it both useful and frustrating to try to learn as I was traveling. But RVT has the essentials, RV safe GPS and the ability to enter any address. I'll be traveling this summer to the western US with only some specific events/dates set. The rest will be as inspiration moves me. RVT is clearly the best for my style of RV life.
I have not all the way through your video, I am looking to do Canada and Alaska. What I am looking for. You spend money on your rv. Power house, but when you buy fuel. Can you place all the cost into the app. What your MPH is. There are more costs. I am getting started. I was looking to see what happens as with a spreadsheet. Thanks
You can record expenses for each of your stops in RV Trip Wizard. So, you would add a stop for fuel into your plan to record the expense or you can add the fuel expense to the campground stop for that night. You can export the trip to Excel and it will include all your expenses for camping, fuel , meals and misc in categorized columns.
Heard Phil mention removing BUGS from your RV. Just wanted to pass on tip my wife (Denise) found for removing Dried on Bugs from your RV . Just wet a Bounce Dryer sheet and wipe them off like you do your kitchen counter. Hope this helps!
Thank you yours is so explainable for someone who's thinking about it 64 years old single never been married don't have any kids information that I was really looking at in fall and forget to the point that I do buy-one-get-one B afford a new one because I will be on retirement check but thank you and I will follow you
Just got done two hours ago checking out the dyrt and trip wizard. Then I saw this on the tube. you gave a great class on it. I had you at 1.5 speed , so you were talking fast!! went back to normal speed on the pos and con's'. Thanks for the information.
Cannot comment on Dyrt but huge pro for RVTW is customer service. I have had numerous contacts after hours and weekends with RVTW staff with very quick responses. Greatly impressed.
Ty for the video! Can I please ask you a couple questions. 1st) Do these apps really keep you from getting in tight spots. I pull a 23 foot camper and would hate to get in a tight spot. 2nd) . And does the gps really work in real time., any delay could cause allot of trouble.
Yes they do. But please know every GPS will get it wrong once in a while even the truckers complain occasionally. The GPS is in real time. Make a wrong turn and it will adjust your route.
We loved RVTW at first but one thing we wanted to use it for was RV GPS, it led us down to a dirt road where we almost got stuck in the mud. So we immediately cancelled and bought a RV Garmin, 100% worth every penny!
Question about trip wizard. Under the parks tab on the right side each RV park shows a distance. Distance from what? It’s definitely not the distance from where I am. For the life of me I can’t figure it out.
I’m wondering how many of your followers book their trips by using a tablet rather than a laptop. I am a new RV’er and a new user of RV Life. You are right, it is a bit of a learning curve. However, I get the impression when using it that the app does not respond very well to an iPad. Do any others experience this?
Is it possible to import the RV Trip Wizard routing data into a Garmin GPS? I prefer to let the Garmin do routing so I have my phone free for other things.
Most people don't understand that Google and Waze are not designed for large vehicles like RVs and truck. You can and will get into trouble with Google guiding you. I understand why people like Google and Waze with all the extra information screen like restaurants, gas stations etc. I like the RVLife GPS for exactly the opposite. The tracking display is uncluttered and I can concentrate on my route without the extra clutter. When traveling I have RVLife GPS on my 10 inch tablet and a small Garmin with the same route sitting just above it. RVLife GPS is my primary GPS. The Garmin is there for the additional information it provides.
There is one thing I don’t like about RVTW is we are escapees. In RVTW shows many RV parks that are Escapee’s parks but in fact are not. It’s difficult to plan a trip if you cannot trust the app to know which park belongs to which membership.
I just signed up for the RVTW trial and am planning my trip from NC to UT. The driving range rings and the gas warning help with planning! Thx for the info!!
Thanks for the comparison! Your review was quick and easy to understand. I am a RV Trip Wizard user and LOVE being able to download my trip to my Garmin. Since I already have my RV stats loaded into my Garmin- it routes me perfectly. I still like to compare with Google maps on my phone but having my entire trip in my saved space on my Garmin is awesome. Thanks again for the great info!
Great evaluation! We have used RV Trip Wizard ever since we watched your earlier video. We have now planned and taken several trips with great success. We have emailed our itinerary to friends and family before leaving. We use an iPad RV Life app as our RV friendly GPS. See you on the road or at the Tampa RV Super Show in 2022?
Thank you for the time you spent to do a really great side by side demonstration and comparison. I still a newbie and haven't figured out my camping style yet. The go go go is too fast paced. I tried making reservations ahead but either am exhausting myself toget there before they close or wishing I could stay longer. Now everything is booked so im forced to boondock. Looks like I could use both of them.
RVT does have a filter for dumps but only at truck stops like Petro, Loves etc. The best app for this is Allstays or you can look on www.sanidumps.com/
We areRV Trip Wizard users… Love that we can enter a harvest host or a Boondocker as welcome address, and we have also recently started using their altitude gain information. Great comparison, thanks!
We have RV tripper and just came back from our first planned trip. I found a place I wanted to add that would not come up but I was putting in the name and not address. Thanks for letting me know that fact
I would have given a totally different review. The positive for The Dyrt is how it picks the campgrounds automatically when you use the almost hidden route planer. Give it a start and end to your route then pick how much you want to spend then it does the rest. Some of the spots look fantastic, especially the free or almost free campsites. The big negative, and I dont understand why this is but you cant add dates to your route like you can with Trip Wizard. What I am trying to do without to much frustration is use Roadtrippers to start the trip to find neat places along a route, then use Dyrt to pick camps on the that route. Its a lot of work for me, and most times I get frustrated and start the whole process over.
Thank you for the great comparison. I just order the RV Trip Wizard and it is working very well to prepare our next trip. Thanks for the discount. I'm leaving in Quebec, Canada and we'll leave to Texas end of October
I may have mentioned this before on one of your video's about TW. My major con is that the GPS is not Android compatible like the Google maps so it will not project to my trucks screen. In fact I seldom use a GPS anyway as we stay on interstates 95% of the time. I may use GPS for local address to a business or attraction and then its usually Google maps. I used TW for campground searching last spring for this winter in Florida and have that all ready to go. All I need to do is finish my routing from US 50 down I 65 etc. in Indiana to the Tampa area. I still prefer to do my own routing with an Atlas and the big US map in them. I am more of a straight line kind of a guy from point A to B. Oh, we are only part timers with most of our travels to out west to visit family from Montana to New Mexico. The DYRT is not going to be good for us.
@@ericbrubakken8586 , You already know your route so why do you need a piece of electronics to tell you where to go? In mid June we went on US 50 from I 65 to I 81 and on up into Penn. to Gettysburg without the use of a GPS of any kind to include the RVTW.
Thank you so much for this updated review- really helpful! I am getting ready to plan a couple of trips to areas I have not been to in an RV and am always a little nervous about where I can take the rig. BTW- we have the same one as you, so that makes the info even more relevant for me. So on to planning- Cali to New Mexico to Colorado and back to Cali- now if the planners had the fishing spots....

Yes, twice the RV SAFE GPS directions have put on roads we shouldn’t have been on. Low bridge height, even though we had our height in the filter. Also, took down the wrong road
Stacy, TY so very much for this very Educational Video!!! We will try the free to plans our future trip with both of them to get used to the programs. We want to THANK YOU for the Discounts! Safe Travels Always! Perhaps we just might see you both someday.
We found your UA-cam channel a month ago and have been binge watching! We're only at your 1 year anniversary but are hooked on you two! Can't wait to catch up and maybe see you on the road. Thanks for a wonderful experience following you!
Nice video Stacie. I noticed your kitchen backsplash is the same that I am looking for. Can you give details on the brand, where you got it, and how hard was it to cut and install. Thank you so much.
I really like that painted cabinet. Some RVs are almost all white and others almost all dark brown. Manufacturers should do something like what y'all did.
Used the code for The Dyrt and it said 90 free trail on the site but when we checked out it said 14 days. We plan to up in but U wanted you to know. Thanks Jim and Barb
That's weird, no one else has notified us that it is wrong. We checked it on our end and it is for 90 days. Contact the DYRT and see what they can do to to make it 90 days.
Great comparison. One more item to note. RVTW lets you put in notes for each stop in your trip (reservation info, site number, must do's). The Dyrt does not.
Thanks for the great overview. I’m already a pro member of The Dyrt and just signed up for RF Life using your link and Promo Code. Thanks! My RV is on order so I’m preparing and planning my first trip from there home. Wish the iPhone app allowed for planning but it seems you have to do so on a computer. Oh well…. Thanks again b
Very informative, thanks! I'm new to RV-ing, so I'm thinking I'll get a membership to both for the first year. Then decide if I need both. The 25% discount for RV Life & 90 days free for The Dyrt from your video helps make that decision easier.
Love your videos. Wondering what you did in military, cuz you're a researching machine. After watching this video, I will probably get...both! The cost isn't much (especially with your promo code) and the extra features between the two, used just a few times would pay for itself. Thanks
As always, fantastic video Stacy. My wife and I had asked you about this during one of the Zoom calls and this is right up our alley. We LOVE RV Trip Wizard and have had mixed reviews of our testing of The Dyrt. Thanks for spelling it out for us. Stay safe, keep up the great work and hope to see you on the road some day.
Can you plan on the iPad or iPhone? The answer - a limited yes. RVTW is a web application and is much easier to use on a PC or laptop. RVTW is very 'click' orientated and is MUCH easier to use with a real mouse. Touch screen device are a real PITA to use RVTW web app. I've tried using RVTW on an iPad, Samsung tablet, iPhone and Android phone. Save yourself some grief and use a PC or laptop. There is a 'Drag Route' feature that is almost impossible to use with a touch screen device.
Yes but it is very difficult to update. Also, I (stacy) am the navigator and I cant see the in dash nav. I like to be able to warn Phil about upcoming lane changes when in traffic, turns and exits. That is a few of the reasons we love our Garmin.
Stacey, just put our big trip to Glacier NP next year into Trip Wizard and it was so easy thanks to your video! My only question is this: is there a way to enter a gas stop and adjust the refuel warning within the route, in other words to see when the next fuel warning is? I must have missed it! Thanks so much for doing the homework on this app, it was extremely helpful!
I have watched this several times in the last year. You did such a great job of showing the ease of using RTW. Great review of both products.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think I would incorporate both. Now I just need to get a RV
Yes, that will help in the RV adventures!

After watching your prior video on TW, you mentioned you had to add a Buffer. Have they fixed that?
Surprised you don't use the "advanced" format driving rings...the distance follows road distances. I love it.
Agree, the advanced radius driving format in RV Trip Wizard is awesome.
I would love to see more information on the driving rings!
We loved RVTW at first but one thing we wanted to use it for was RV GPS, it led us down to a dirt road where we almost got stuck in the mud. So we immediately cancelled and bought a RV Garmin, 100% worth every penny!

Thank you guys for putting out this video I never knew trip wizard was such user friendly 👍🏼👍🏼🖖🏼🇺🇸🇵🇷

That was not our experience with it. Hope it works better for you.
That was really helpful. I already have Trip Wizard. Hope to see you on the road someday. Maybe not in Texas right now. It's really hot down here.
I hope so too! Yes! Very hot.

ITs Overnight Parking.

Thank you so much for your information. I will be getting the RV Trip Wizard to help plan our next trip

Stacy is rv trip wizard still your favorite?
Yes! I still use it and love it.
What I am trying to do without to much frustration is use Roadtrippers to start the trip to find neat places along a route,
then use Dyrt to pick camps on the that route. (hard to do because Dyrt does not care for waypoints.
then use Trip Wizard to do the logistics like how many days I will spend at one campground.

Excellent video Stacy, I use RV trip-wizard as there RV friendly GPS is pretty dang helpful for me. ASCS
Thank you for the great comparison. I just order the RV Trip Wizard and it is working very well to prepare our next trip. Thanks for the discount. I'm leaving in Quebec, Canada and we'll leave to Texas end of October
Just purchased this app. How does it find big rig friendly gas stations.
I have a 34’ TT gas truck… I don’t want to just pop in at any gas station.
I may have mentioned this before on one of your video's about TW. My major con is that the GPS is not Android compatible like the Google maps so it will not project to my trucks screen. Would it be possible to compare The Dyrt, RV Trip Wizard, & RV Parky??
I havent really used RV Parky in a very long time. I dont really know about that one.
Just getting started, I've got the RV now I need to get it licensed and find somewhere to go. I think that having both of the tools will probably be the best. I guess we'll find out in a few months when we get on the road. Keep the good stuff coming and tell Phil don't be so camera shy.
He needs a day off every now and then!!
What app is good to find corp of engineer and county parks and city parks to camp at
Stacy uses RV Life for all of the above. If you just want COE's, then use recreation.gov to find them. Have fun!
Great review, Thanks! I have a quick question.... Can the route you develop with the each program be downloaded to a garmin rv gps?
Yes, absolutely but only on RV Trip Wizard. The Dyrt only downloads to google.
We use RV Trip Wizard. We keep having trouble with the RV Life GPS so are looking to get a Garmin. Thanks for the comparison!!!

Yes
Great video. Thank you! We use a lot of free apps including RV Life. We use Co-Pilot for safe directions

Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this comparison! Great info!
Question: Do you put the length of just your motorhome or motorhome plus toad?
I only have the length of our RV. I did not add the toad.
This video was very helpful. I have just started planning much longer trips. Can you load the trip to the Rand McNally RV GPS?
Yes you can.
Very helpful video! Thanks for the balanced and detailed comparison of both apps. The husband and I learned a lot!
You are so welcome!
Hi just stumbled on this in my research for our first trip in our sprinter van. Where can I find the discount codes?
Click on 'show more' under the video. The codes are there. Please note the 90 day trial for The Dyrt using our code has expired.
Great job Stacy, Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Great information. I will be checking out rv trip wizards
Very informative, thanks! I'm new to RV-ing, so I'm thinking I'll get a membership to both for the first year. Then decide if I need both. The 25% discount for RV Life & 90 days free for The Dyrt from your video helps make that decision easier.
WOW! As we are planning the upcoming fall / winter travel, this came at a perfect time! Thank you for putting this together!
Our pleasure!
Love RV Trip Wizard. Have used it for years now. Can upload the trips to my Garman 890 RV easy as it gets.
Love your videos.
Wondering what you did in military, cuz you're a researching machine.
After watching this video, I will probably get...both!
The cost isn't much (especially with your promo code) and the extra features between the two, used just a few times would pay for itself.
Thanks
My research skills are from my years as a nurse practitioner! I was a data processor in the Navy!
Nice review, thanks.
We hope so to! I hope it was helpful.
Love all this helpful step by step info! We’ll be watching this again 😊
QUESTION Can you plan as well on an iPad or iPhone as you can on a computer?
Stacy says no for the app and unsure on an Ipad. She uses her laptop.
Does your Tiffin RV have a built in GPS Navigation unit at all?
Yes but it is very difficult to update. Also, I (stacy) am the navigator and I cant see the in dash nav. I like to be able to warn Phil about upcoming lane changes when in traffic, turns and exits. That is a few of the reasons we love our Garmin.
Do you find that RVT only works well on apple products? What do you recommend for Android?
On the Android is is called RV Life.
Good question! Sorry I dont have the answer. I have not used this feature because I usually plan our fuel based on our fuel savings card.
@@todayissomeday Thanks for the quick reply!
