Why this song was added: Continuation of the first Ascension. Instead of having a 7 minute track, I split them in two for the OST. The game plays out slightly different than how it is presented here, and is actually 3 tracks in game.

If there's one thing I always thought it couldn't be missed for 'Half-Life 3' it's Kelly Bailey. He really understands how to use his music to enhance the level of immersion of the game. So, I've spent the last week listening to the Black Mesa OSTs and I can commit the heresy of saying that someone has managed to match or even surpass Kelly Bailey with Half-Life material. And fans seem to agree that you (Joel) are one of the biggest reasons why BlackMesa/Xen has practically surpassed all expectations. You really managed to capture the soul of Half-Life with your tracks mixing it with the late1990s/early2000s vibe (some reminded me of The Matrix (1999) and Resident Evil (2002) a bit) while adding your own spice. Thank you for your services, I hope you'll be called on for future projects in this franchise. (Sry for any grammatical errors, not my native language)

The entire soundtrack on black mesa and Xen has always been inspiring anywhere I go. I stopped playing the games but I'll never let go of your scores. You've always released them the time when dire things happen and I manage much better than predicted with this on my mind. Your talent gives strength and courage. Thank you for everything.

This encounter among others in the chapter, being the one free man, an emancipator for the Vorts, and the bane of every controller that floats in your way, makes this my new favorite chapter alongside questionable ethics and surface tension. The music and art design really sell every emotion the game is portraying.

  • @НикитаБыкадоров-у8л

-So why are you here again, after 1 year?
-What do you mean, again? You do think I have ever stopped listening to Joel Nielsen's track?
-Uh, I forgot. You always listen to them, then get happy depression and come to me, your therapist.
    -Of course, doc.

I can't describe just how amazing your music sounds Joel, it's truly amazing what you've managed to create, you've captured the Half-Life feeling so well, from the somewhat mysterious feel of office complex, to the badass feel of we've got hostiles, to the somewhat sad yet motivating blast pit, to the endgame feel of lambda core, to the heavenly sounding transcendent, to the terrifying alien, to this, ascension, you have truly done such a wonderful job with the soundtrack for Black Mesa, you've truly served the game justice with your music. Like many others say, you really should get hired by Valve themselves, they could really use you. I can't wait to see what you'll do next after Black Mesa, but whatever it may be, i'm looking forward to it

As predicted, this track was awesome ingame and fitted nicely with gameplay. I just wish the last bit of Ascension (when BMS theme notes are played) was more scripted and not included in the loop that plays during the fight. I think it would have fitted better during the last fight in the elevator. These last seconds are amazing and should be in my opinion scripted to be heard clearly. Awesome work anyway, this ending was incredible !
