Andy... Man, your remark about "revoicing" the dirt pedals by placing the boost after them has helped to smoothen the fuzz sound on the pedal board. Earlier, I found it too harsh and even screechy. But your tip has made a huge difference, man. Thank you very much now even though your remark was some seven years ago... :-)
I’ve had one of these on my list for a while. Just picked up a Keeley Aria, and have found the drive to be too mid-heavy and lacking some low end; super awesome to see that it can revoice a dirt pedal!
The MXR is fantastic for precise tone shaping, e.g. boost around 2kHz/cut everything below about 150Hz etc. I mainly use mine as a lead boost, and while I love being able to shape my lead tone differently from my rhythm tone, it's not ideal as a lead boost, purely because it's too easy to knock the sliders when you're starting or finishing a solo! And because the range of each slider is massive, a little knock can make a big difference. Tone Job looks more stomp-able :).
Apples to tomatoes, dod juice box=overdrive pedal, dod preamp=overdrive/distortion, bassman pedal=amp sim, fender deluxe pedal=amp sim., not eq pedals. I thought for sure you would say the plastic DJ-14 Fish & Chips or JOYO / MXR 6 band eq's, cheap fun! TJ=metal stomp box, simple 3 band eq, level (easy to use in a live situation), 9V battery or PS, made in USA. PGS constantly has discount coupons and free shipping, why waste your time modding a BYOC. It arrived yesterday, thx PGS! : )~
Don't have this pedal, but thinking of it...Love Earthquaker Devices, have a Cloven Hoof and it's extremely well made and sounds just killer! I already have an Empress ParaEQ, which I adore...But there are just so many options w/the q size and frequency selection for each band(and that's before deciding whether to boost or cut said frequencies) so it can be a bit confusing. If anyone is thinking of this pedal, I'd say go for it! A high quality eq shaping pedal is probably one of the best things you can do for your tone, and IMO I don't think you can "have too many." You could use two(or 3) different eq pedals to have completely different sounding rhythm/lead tones at the step of a pedal. I use mine in the effects loop, anyone have any experience with different placement?
Special Snowfake Yeah, for 150.00 you can get a Stone Deaf Trashy Blonde. I have one and it has many more tone shaping abilities, while also being an overdrive as well.
It might be 2 years later, but the answer is yes. It has an output buffer at the end of the circuit after the volume pot. This is just a Sea Blue EQ but made with opamps instead of jfets.
How about the The DecemberSean STFU . It would mute/noise reduction pedal that's always activated to eliminate that CONSTANT ANNOYING HUM in the background or mute the signal all together..
probably best AFTER, or in the amp's effects loop. the EarthQuaker Devices Arrows pedal is a great one to put BEFORE overdrive, distortion, & fuzz pedals.

The Replacements "Pleased to Meet Me" pedal. Just ordered it, thx PGS!
Regardless of the pedal’s name... Andy sure knows how to showcase a pedal. 8 years later and I bet this is still selling because of this review
sure is
Pearl Jam - Habit!!! Good playing Andy!
I love that classic metal sound, really hood for power chords
Best version of Pearl Jams Habit I've heard, and that include Pearl Jams version!

Man the sound on that Hagstrom was the shit there bud. So chewy. Don't lose that guitar. Best thick tone I've heard yet on your demos.

"Tone Snob" would have been better, for those that are selectively picky about their tones. Just ordered mine from PGS : )~
I dunno why, but it really weirds me out that Andy doesn't use a pick at al!
Love the Sabbath, great tone on that!

Great intro followed by Sabbath!!
love the choice of songs you play!!! Never hear enough of Tom Petty

I agree completely, this pedal is perfect. Its a perfect fit for bringing out the cleans with a little boost on amps like my Orange OR15.
Never thought you'd habit!
probably one of the worst named pedals ever.
i want one.
It will run off a battery
I know this comment is 8 YEARS OLD but I just got one and it does not...
V1 (8 yrs ago) will
V2 (newer) will not
A firm handshake- Pink Floyd- Dogs
Nice use of some Dixie Witch
More witchery from EQD! Everything they make is top shelf. "Solid A"!
Andy played Back In Black like a BOSS =))
Big EQD fan. this seems seems a little pricey for what is does.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers!
Yes, you can power it with a 9V battery : )~
Since it is 1k/100k ohms,is it a buffer at the same time ?

Either way, sooner or later, you'll have to press it for it to turn on.
That's funny... last time I got a tone job I had to pay for it, too!
How do you find this compared to the paraeq or PDF 1
Nice job as always.
Breakdown, go ahead and give it to me, break down it's allright!
The second song is the first in the Big muff demo xD
is this digital then ?
SABBATH!
This or the arrows??
Doesn't take batteries, right?
How about the The DecemberSean STFU . It would mute/noise reduction pedal that's always activated to eliminate that CONSTANT ANNOYING HUM in the background or mute the signal all together..
Is this pedal pretty quiet?
si quisiera ecualizar. que pedal seria mejor? un mxr m 108s o el tone job?
tone job vs knockout??
Please enlighten us.
Please do enlighten us.
The difference was subtle.
SABBATH!!!!
PEARL JAM!!!
sabbath!!
analog circuit 1:15
HABIT!!
I think I'd rather just go an MXR M108, more options for less cash.
Super Swede
BREAKDOWN! go ahead! give it to me!
Thumbs up for a song list in the description !
you dnt want to give this to petrucci>>>
pearl jam
Wish he would’ve a/b it. Play without then engaged.
I did this on every example. When the pedal is not showed, it’s off.
all the poor people gotta do something
Would you run this before or after your drives?
probably best AFTER, or in the amp's effects loop. the EarthQuaker Devices Arrows pedal is a great one to put BEFORE overdrive, distortion, & fuzz pedals.
..the pedal art is two hands shaking and not... well... you know..
BACK IN BLACK
No, that's a "Hand Job" : )~
blah blah blah.
we all know its fun.
Agreed! I've never bothered to repaint a pedal before, but if I get one of these I'm considering it because of the rubbish name!
