    $3K price tag is okay for a 3in1 machine. Considering parts shortages, it’s understandable for the 5-6 month wait as they start shipping in Dec. Bear in mind, Snapmaker may be quite optimistic about the ship date, as if they say 2023 it would definitely scare people away. It’s not for me, I need a machine now and would very much be silly if I throw down 3K for a printer that is mostly renders. Keep developing it then show it to reviewers, it does looks nice.

    Just get a Bambulab P1S with 4 color printing for $949, a TwoTrees TTC450 for $450, and a creality falcon laser cutter for $400.
    Save over $1000, have more colors to print at once with a faster printer, a bigger CNC machine with more power, and a bigger faster laser cutter. and.... do 3 things at once AND.....
    only ONE machine is down if something fails instead of the whole thing.

      Also you don't have chips and dirt from the cnc cutting interfere with the 3d printing, both operations require vastly different operating environments and a dusty environment is very bad for clean 3d prints. I agree that having 3 separate machines is ideal but some people don't have the space and/or don't use all functions equally, in that case something like an Artisan would offer a reasonable solution.

    • @bami2
      @bami2 2 місяці тому

      @@joeillingworth1141 Clear or blue acrylic is transparent to most diode lasers, that's why not :P.
      It's just going to go mostly trough the plastic and heat up the backing board. Polycarbonate, PET and PVC have the same issues with diode lasers since the laser has a wavelength of 450nm and the acrylic won't absorb anything above 400nm. You really want a CO2 laser (more like 11nm wavelength) if you're going to cut/engrave acrylic often, there are some hacky ways to do it with diode lasers but it's probably going to result in melted plastic and just a certified bad time around.

    • @bami2
      @bami2 2 місяці тому

      @@joeillingworth1141 Yeah, that's one of the hacky ways. You can engrave the adhesive sheet but it's going to end up in a mess if you want to then cut the acrylic below it.
      Putting dye in cast acrylic could be a solution though, just make sure the dye can absorb the given wavelength of the laser well enough.

      I’m wondering the same seems like it wouldn’t be rigid enough for steel. Especially with the quick attach thing going on.

    • @bami2
      @bami2 2 місяці тому

      Engraving steel is going to be a tough job for this machine with probably less than satisfactory results, cutting steel absolutely not. The spindle might have enough power but the rest of the machine doesn't.
      Rule of thumb, you never want to cut anything harder than what the machine is made out of, in this case aluminium. Also the toolhead X axis and bed Y axis are moved by belts, which are not rigid enough the gantry is too big too offer much rigidity as well. Honestly I wouldn't attempt to cut anything metal with this machine, just keep it to wood or plastics.

    • @Snapmaker
      @Snapmaker  Рік тому +2

      Artisan itself uses a silent drive chip (TMC2209), plus this time the hardware structure has been optimized, using a new design of linear module
      X, Y is now changed to the form of synchronous belt, it is reasonable to say that the resonance will be smaller than the screw (this point can be explained to the user without specific)
      Software this time on the vibration and noise has also done some optimization

    • @lars916
      @lars916 Рік тому

      @@Snapmaker Thank you for this promising answer.
      But I have two counter-questions.
      If synchronous belts are used, can they be tensioned afterwards?
      And isn't this system the cause of inaccuracies along the x and y axes in CNC milling?

    Just two things :

      - high-temperature zone (aka inner zone) that can reach 110°C, whereas the highest temperature of the outer zone is 80°C.
