I have a newer Abu Garcia 5601 c4 and I’m thinking of buying one of the older ones like this on eBay but I’m not real familiar with them. I noticed they have another knob on the side plate. Is that like a secondary spool tensioner? Just curious, you did a really good job with the maintenance too.
looking at buying one, assembled in sweden, so doubt be the now chinese make. How do they rate up, always used a scarborough reel, now looking for multiplier. thanks
Hei. I use Penn Precision Reel Grease and Penn Precision Reel Oil. most important is to use grease and oils that are made for use in fishing reels. and i use Cal's Universal Drag Grease for my drag washers.
Hei thedonssp. I've experienced it once before, the solution on my reel was a thorough cleaning and new lubrication, if it does not solve the problem you need to see if there are any parts that are starting to get worn down or broken. is a little difficult for me to find a solution without seeing it for myself, but there are an incredible number of problems with reels that are solved with cleaning and re-lubrication. Sorry that I can’t be more helpful.
Perfection. I'm off to do mine now, it hasn't been out of the box since 1981 :D
Puré Quality 👍🏻

yes that's right there is another spool tensioner, it also allows you to adjust the spool a little bit sideways in the reel.
@@senmonaits ok thank you
