This song has always seemed to pop into my head at certain points in my life. It just sums up a very particular kind of melancholy. Something to do with dreams and hopes colliding with reality I think.
Love your cover!! Grew up in So Cal in the 70's and remember this song in my head as I'm watching all the news about mud slides in the hills. If we forget the past then we're fools and make the same mistakes in the future. Welcome 2024 El Nino...you bad little boy!

There have been great singers in the past that have had perfect pitch and followed the orchestration. Singers like Doris Day, Judy Garland, Shirley Jones to name a few, this lady is really something to hear. She could and should be one of the greats from this time.

@@garryford1216 Hi ya Garry 👋. How ya doin'?. Yes, I did watch some. I found it interesting. I'm a firm believer but there's many who will still not be convinced by those hearings. I suppose the next logical stage would be an in-depth documentary series of actual alien entities/races being closely studied, plus footage of their crafts being explored and reverse engineered. I would also like to see the facilities where they are housed and how they interact with humans within those facilities who study and care for them. The cynic in me says would it be real footage or fake though?. AI and CGI techniques available to film makers now makes the latter a distinct possibility. I will stick to what I've read, researched and additionally learnt from personal experiences from people like yourself and yet another Gary 😊 (my ex-work colleague), to form my opinion that we are not alone. Great song from Albert Hammond, I guess this record and The Free Electric Band are the songs I most associate with him, though he is a prolific songwriter with many well known songs to his credit. Well Sarah, this is wonderful version of a great old number, your Dad has great taste in music. It never rains in southern California, sadly it doesn't look like we are in for many dry days in North Yorkshire! X

we got a lot this past winter, but I haven't seen any since April. It has rained in some parts of the state but not in the part I live in. Even Cactus plants are drying up & dieing. This week the temp has been average at 42c but we are going back up to above 47c in a few days. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
