Ty so much,a friend of mine has a clip 3 and she gave it to me,because she said it wasn't charging ,no indicator lights or anything and I was wondering how to get it open... Low and behold you're video walked me right thru it. Very helpful and informative Many thanks
I have this product and love the fact of how small it is and produces good mid base along with low end however anything above 4000 Hz really is not even there. They could’ve added even a tiny $.75 tweeter to it and it would be so much better.
Excellent, mine had a rattle in under the mesh part, small plastic tube had snapped off and i need to glue the mesh cover back on its not going back on snug enough. Thanks for the video
incorrectly fastened it and it fell of my belt while riding bicycle at 25 kmh. It got only cosmetic damage on metal and small dent on rubber. Extremely durable device!
One of these got knocked off my motorcycle when i was going about 60 MPG. It bent the hook and broke odf the little spring catch. But Shockingly it still sounds as good as new! Durable is an understatement
After using myJBL clip 3 for maybe a year or so I dropped it and the grill fell of, Problem being that the grll is not nearly as tight as it was factory, you can just pok it of with your finger. So a warning for those wanting to take the grill of, you might have to use glue to put it back together.
Seems like JBL is learning. The assembly process has been simplified and made into what looks like a more serviceable product. The Pulse 3 for example is way more repairable then the Pulse 2.
Can I replace the speaker with new one and where do I can find Spare Speaker???? Only the speaker is defect when it falls on the floor. Everything is Ok
I had the same problem when mine was a month old. I opened the speaker just as shown in the video and I unscrewed those 2 screws over the charging port. When you gently pull the unscrewed part, its connector detaches from the charging port - aux port complex. When I plugged this part back in and gently push, I got my red light on. I fixed it. Screwed all of the screws back and now it works. It may either be a disconnection like in my case or the dust and dirt within the port.
Hello guys, mine felt down ones and now the speaker won't sound like before it connected but the speaker now is like 50 % less power. What can I do to fix the problem?
My Clip 3 is not charging the problem might be the smaller tiny circuit board under the two screws that contains the AUX and Micro USB ports.. I have dissassambled the Clip 3 and dissconnected the circuit to double check it, it seems like to be the issue, but the USB port is completely fine, because i have checked by unsoldering and plugging in the USB charge.. What should I do?
Hey I have the same exact speaker, bought it from Target. I tried to record something with the speaker's mic but it won't do nothing instead it uses my tablet's mic (Galaxy tab E) any ideas why? help?
It is possible to replace the clip. But as far as I know JBL does not sell parts individually. What I did personally in the past is look for an inexpensive defective speaker on eBay and use that as parts donor.

The USB port is located on a small daughter board. If you find small board with USB C on it, that fits that location, it should be possible. Replacing just the port itself probably won’t work because of the difference in the pin layouts.
Gabriel Smexy 1st, take it apart and look on the motherboard for any corrosion (white/greenish gunk) on any of the electronics. 2nd, If there is, get some rubbing alcohol and scrub it off with a tooth brush (make sure to unplug battery before hand) then let it dry out for like 30min to an hour. Then put it back together and let it charge for awhile. (If it still doesn’t work, it might need a new mother board or battery. (Which is cheap on eBay.)
The only way to fix it, I’m afraid. (Because if you put it in water or salt water, it may have got in. Because some speakers may be defective and have small airleaks and water could seep inside.
depends on what you do when you put it back together. If you don't put in the o ring or damage the o ring then no. If you break any of the sealant around the charging port and don't reseal it then no. Come on a little common sense now and then wouldn't hurt would it???
Only got replacement ear pads from JBL so far. Not sure if they have other parts. It’s normal for a response to take a couple of days - I’ve never had them not respond to requests in the past. When I’m in a hurry I usually call or chat with them.
Yeah so the cover with the jbl logo fell off of mine when me and my friends were running around town and I never found it, does anyone know if it is still water proof/resistant?
Same here @Rashied, piece of shit speaker didn't even last past 9 months. The idiots at JBL do this all the time, build a durable speaker with a strong build but the weakest micro USB charging connector port. Absolute disgrace, I came across this forum also saying that the clip 3 is not the only weak build, the Flip 3 too doesn't last a year. Such a waste.
TheKaz911 omg, your a literal idiot, I guarantee you won’t find any other speaker company that doesn’t have a couple defective models, I’ve had my jbl flip 4 since March of 2017.. it still works. And I have my jbl clip 3 which I have been in the shower with a million times and I have dropped it ALOT...
Are the small pins, which are part of the Grill, are still stuck inside if the speaker? You could try to pull them out using tweezers and them then glue them back on with super glue.

Hi, how did you remove the USB charge connector?
I've bought this speaker today in red color. Good sound and quality. Also it has a microphone and Clip 4 doesn't have it.
I found one of these on the side of the highway & have been using it for years
That’s very lucky of you lol I asctually found one in a hotel room, gave it to my sister and then bought another one because it was just too good!

That requires some good soldering skills, because of the small pins on the USB-port, which connect to the board.

Thats how all BT devices work. The mic is only for phone calls.
I just dropped this on the stairs and it's still working 😂
Is it possible to buy the body parts only? I want to change the color. Plus, the cover to the charging port was already torn apart.
Sometimes you can find broken speakers on eBay. With that you can swap out the insides of you current speaker.

does opening the insides of jbl clip 3 removes its waterproofness?

the red light is on for das and I can't turn it on. any idea's?
What is the milli-amp hour rating of the battery?
1000 mAh
Soo, if i charge my clip 3 and drop in the pool or water, no liquid will get inside since there is glue on micro usb and 3.5 mm jack ?
Highly doubt it, what's more likely is that those weak points won't destroy the rest of the speaker as easily
The ports will probably be damaged tho
How come the speaker the same as jbl go2 ?
Because its easier to use the same components in differend speakers instead of desining completely new ones
