Thank you so much for your videos! I just finished my 6mt swap on my G35 coupe with my buddy. It took us about 9 hours from start to driving it out. We looked up and watched every single minute of these videos. We really appreciate you taking the time to document all of this on video. It definitely is easy but very time consuming. Patience is key!
So glad it helped with your swap, now go out and enjoy your new manual transmission!!💯👍🏁
Thank you for the amazing 3 videos I look forward to swapping my z to a manual as soon as I can afford it ! So happy to see you love the 6 speed
For anyone who wants reverse, just buy the reverse plug for manual and you can wire it up. I did this and my reverse lights work.
I love your videos 😀👍After watching all three videos i definitely want to swap my 2003 g35 sedan, which they did come factory with a 6 speed manual. Funny, i only started watching your videos for the rear main seal replacement, now i want to swap my transmission lol 🤣🤣
Very informational! I'm doing a chassis swap from an 04 Manual DE into a 06 Automatic due to someone T-Boning be a year ago and these videos have helped me finish my car! Love your attitude and passion for helping others. You're a good man! I was able to properly prep for everything I was going to need and after studying these videos I got it done all by myself and much faster than I was expecting. Hope you gain more support for your channel, you have mine my man!
So glad these videos helped you restore your 350Z, thanks so much for watching 👀! 👍💯
Thank you so much for these videos bro
Love watching my son's videos, even though I understand zip!
So cool man, I hope to this in the next couple years with my z that I’ve had for 8 years
The best thing you could ever do to a automatic transmission is a manual swap!!! You will love it.🏁💯👍
1 year later and still an amazing video. really cleared up how to do the wiring. thanks!
@@Zspeed ofc man, question were u ever able to get rid of the check engine lights?
No, you will need to swap to a manual transmission wiring harness to make those go away!
@@Zspeed if your looking to get rid of them, my tuner just said he can permanently delete the codes!
Great help. Your videos helped me out a lot big shout out to Z-Speed for the tutorial. My manual swap is about finished. Big thanks again brother.
So glad this video series helped you out, trust me, your going to love this manual swap!!!
Brevard Power and Electric in Palm Bay, FL? I live in Palm Bay and I'm about to do a manual transmission swap in my 04 350Z. That'd be amazing if we lived so close!
@@DanielTesenair Yes sir its absolutely worth it if you see a red 350 yk who it is.
@@brevardpowerandelectric Nice man! I'll keep an eye out. Can I reach out if I have any questions?
Great video
Until we did this on two of our Saturns, I had no idea it could even be done!
obrigado por compartilhar o seu conhecimento. 💪🏻👍🏻
Hell yes! The video I have been waiting for. Congrats on finishing the swap. Once question though, that service manual for 2004.5+, will that apply to an 07 as well? Because I used the website you linked and I still havent been able to find the section that shows the ipdm layout. But, if its the same then obviously I can just use your vid. There is also one other youtuber I've seen do this where he goes over the wiring and now that I think about it, I think it is the same. But cant hurt to ask. Still saving up for the transmission atm, hope to get it soon!! Thank you again for making these so detailed and helpful. Much love
Such a pain! I had to remove the brake master cylinder to get my pedals out!
i bought a manual swapped z any idea what they did or how to get rid of the p1706 pnp switch code thanks
Sorry to comment I’m a little late to this but my clutch pedal wire has a green wire and a grey and red one, would I connect to the red and grey to the fuse wire or connect it to the wire that’s connected to the tcm
Hey Z Speed, enjoy your video! Can you put a link as to where you bought your brand new 6 speed transmission from, would sincerely appreciate it! After watching your last video, am inspired to do the same as you did from auto to manual. Thank you very much!

So my wife is gonna hate this 350z transmission swap coming soon🤣
im honestly new to cars and was wondering if there was any way possible to get rid of the A/T Light and the Service light and get the reverse light to work? would it be like a manual wiring harness snd ecu change for a manual one or something? thank you so much for helping me step into the car world and teaching me
Definitely a manual harness and ECU should solve all those problems, it would take some time, but well worth the effort!!! Thanks so much for watching!
Your videos are awesome...I have just one question for now 😂 the wire you ran from the battery terminal area to the clutch pedal. What gauge wire is it...or do you have a link on where i can buy it ?
Anything between 12 to 16 guage, speaker wire should work well!! Thanks so much for watching!
Hey zspeed can you answer what fuse did you put in that empty slot next to the o2 sensor fuse for the clutch safety switch, I used the o2 sensor fuse and throwing a code for low heater circuit don’t know if that’s the problem. But would like to know if that empty slot next to it works for fine?
Check out: 29:33 on the video to find out exactly where I placed the add a fuse!
hi Z-speed i just got a 350z and was wondering if you had a full parts list for your manual swap?
Here is a link to my video on all the parts that I used and where to find them: ua-cam.com/video/fg25QbqKZiw/v-deo.html
Hey bro awesome videos, I appreciate the detail and patience. I was wondering if this would work on my infiniti m35, what do you think?
Do they have a manual transmission for the M35, if they do, you should be able to swap it!!
@Z-speed I don't think so , I will have to double check. I just got the p1757 code for my trans. From what I looked up it can be a simple fix, if not I was looking for other options.
I appreciate you getting back to me
Hey man I know this a pretty old video but I got a question what did you do with the hoses that connect to the radiator to from the transmission did you plug the holes in the radiator or what
No, let them drain for a day or two, then stuff the holes with a paper towel. Then periodically remove the paper towel and replace it with fresh paper towels. Eventually the radiator will completely stop leaking fluid! I know this sounds time consuming but you can't just plug or cap these holes because pressure builds inside the radiator every time it heats up! Hope this helps!
I see the tag on the Z is an Alabama tag. Are you in Alabama? If so, how far from Mobile? I may need some guidance doing this on my g37
Yes, Birmingham area Roll Tide! If you questions just ask, thanks so much for watching and don't forget to subscribe!!!
Does anyone know of another way to connect the clutch instead of cutting the wires and would swap the engine house harness work instead? Like how they swap the frs to manual transmission they swap the harness?
Thanks for your videos! So my question is, I understand that if the stock dual mass flywheel is replaced with a regular flywheel, like you did, there will be clutch chatter. Was that the case with yours?
@@Zspeed Is the chatter not damaging, just an annoyance? Also how's the car drive compared to the auto transmission? Does it seem like more power is getting to the rear wheels now? Thanks for your reply!
Justin, slight chatter will not damage anything, it comes from using a lighter flywheel, the dual mas flywheel is much heavier and dampens the chatter! the manual transmission puts down way more power to the street than the automatic trans, so it's worth swapping out!!!
@@Zspeed Thanks for the info. Wont be long until I'm under the car referencing your videos!
Good evening, I have a question about where I find to buy this black clutch line, the continuity of blue
Try a salvage yard or Ebay! Thanks so much for watching and don't forget to subscribe!!!
What did you do about the connections from the transmission
I bought a cd09 transmission there’s like 2 connectors hanging out of it but they do not fit my connectors that were already in the car !!!!
I been driving around without them being plug does that affects anything and what are they for?
I finish the swap too!!! Car started on the first try and everything came out on point ! Even I was really scared I did the rear main seal like Nissan Says on the Book took me a while but it’s finally done
So glad your swap went well, don't worry about the two connections not being plugged into anything. There is no place to plug the manual transmission harness into an automatic ECU wiring harness, but your transmission will still function normally!!
@@Zspeed okay thank you !!
Ya That CD09 transmission it’s the Goat so nice to drive it and Shifting like butter
If you flash the ecu to a rom from the MT id imagine that the cruise would work. Alternatively you could get a junkyard ecu. Just some thoughts
No sure if that would work without connecting the manual harness up to the automatic harness somehow?
Just did this swap thanks to you! However I ran into an issue where the key gets stuck in the ignition, have you ran into this issue also?
@@Zspeed it is oem. Just to clarify, you have the automatic ecu still?
Yes, still running the auto ECU an harness! So far everything seems to be operating perfectly, maybe you should try another key and fob!
Where did you buy the male part of the clutch pedals wire? I can’t seem to find it
Do you know if this will pass inspection or will you need to change out the harness for that. I live in PA so I’m sure it’s different but just wondering
And if you have to swap harnesses do you know if you have to mess with the interior harness as well or just engine harness
This swap should pass a regular smog test! What kind of inspection are you referring to?
Then your okay 👌, you can pass emissions test and as far as safety is concerned, I have been running this setup for over 6 months with no Issues!!!
Have you done anything about the cruise control? Ive done this with u n would love my cruise control bac
Did you ever get rid of the U1000 and U1001 codes ? I have also did the swap and I’ve just can’t seem to get rid of them
You would have to swap out the engine harness to a manual harness to eliminate the u1000 code, so we just have to live with it!!!
@zspeed, wonderfull Job! Thanks you very much for the 3 videos.
I was wondering if the change of the automatic computer to a manual one is just disconnect and connect? I Also have the engine service and AT Lights On, and U1000 and U1001 codes for did these swap.
Thanks so much for watching! Unfortunately, just swapping out the ECU is not enough, you will also have to swap out you wiring harness with a manual harness! Don't worry about the codes, it will still run fine!!!💯👍🏁
If you pull the reverse lamp relay and wire 12 volts to the red and yellow wire, they’ll work. You have to follow the write up on g35 driver, for the wiring for this to work. They have you wire your reverse and park neutral safety switches into the small fuse box/relay box in the battery compartment. Just did this on my 6 speed swapped G35 and my reverse lights work.
hey i did a manual swap on a g35 2005 did the neutral safety by pass with pin 53 to a 15 amp fuse the car turns on but anytime i press the gas it dies, has this ever happen to anyone? pls help
Run a OBD2 code reader on your ECU, it might give you something to go on, obviously you'll get a u1000 code but ignore that look for something different!
Hello, kinda late to this but really hope I can get a response, I’ve got a wire hooked up to wire 53, and running that into the cabin, the clutch depress sensor has the two wires ones green and the other grey and red, the grey and red wire is the same color as 53, I have the red and grey wire hooked up to the fuse “put it into the o2 sensor fuse”and the green wire hooked up to 53 coming into the cabin. When I go to start the car it won’t start and has the park up shift light on, my reverse lights are also on, any clue on what I’ve got wrong ?
@@Zspeed well it’s a 07 g35 coupe but they have the vqde non rev, and seems to have the same wiring as the 05+ 350z, and the clutch pedal and clutch pedal connector is from a late 03 g35, update tho the lights that are on are the brake lights not reverse, my brake is super hard pretty sure it’s cause the car hasn’t turned on.
Okay update got it running, wasn’t getting power to that fuse box, but I wanted to ask, on the brake pedal there is two holes where the end of the sensors go through, do both of them have pedal stoppers or just one of them ?
@@Zspeed 1 sensors or 1 stopper cause my brake pedal has two sensors on it one with a white connector and the other with a brown connector and so did yours in the video, I’m just a bit confused since I have both sensors and no stopper just two holes
Does your traction control still work or does it stop working??
@@Zspeed and you can turn it off and on whenever you want? I ask because I just did my manual swap and I want to turn it off to have some fun but I can't do it :/
Where u buy the clutch sensor with the wire 😢 i need that and I can’t find the
www.z1motorsports.com/switches/nissan/clutch-pedal-position-start-switch-p-5742.html
We just did the swap but the car won’t crank, we confirmed we have power to the switch on the pedal and have spliced into the proper wire along with confirming that the harness was all plugged in, any ideas?
Make sure the by-pass wire is placed in a fuse outlet that gets power while cranking the starter, power is cut to some fuse outlets while the Ignition is being cranked. The same thing happened to me, watch the third video in my transmission swap series!
@@Zspeed Will do when I get home, I am almost certain I placed the fuse tap in the same location as you (to the right of the blue 15 fuse in the bottom left corner) but perhaps I have a different fuse layout or have misplaced it
@@Zspeedalright i have verified that the fuse is in the right spot and have check that it has power to it when turning the key over to start it, anything else you could thing that i might’ve missed? thanks for your time!
Where did you get the pigtail from ? To plug to the clutch pedal
Oh okay ! Honestly I was going to do just the other method or hooking the cable from the abs relay something like that then wire it to p53 cable cuz getting that pigtail it’s going to be hard I stay in a really remote area so barely any 350z or junkyard around here
@@Zspeed I’m getting a U1000 code
Controller area network line malfunction any idea what causes that ? Is it normal after doing the swap ?
Yes, that's normal after the swap, you will get a U1000 code because your transmission harness is disconnected!
Did you find anything for reverse lights?
@@Zspeed you could buy the MT plug for the reverse light and wire to AT harness just a theory though
That actually sounds like a good theory, I would have to study the automatic transmission wiring harness to see if that's possible!
Hi I have a question how long did it take for you to build pressure in the clutch because I’m having problems building pressure in the clutch
Sounds like you may still have air in the lines or the slave cylinder. Also check all of the clutch lines for leaks! It took me at least 20 to 30 minutes to get all of the air out of the lines. There is also a special technique to get all of the air out of the slave cylinder, there are plenty of videos on UA-cam for that procedure, hope this helps, let me know what happens!!👍🏁💯
@@Zspeed hi did you do the method where someone pumps the clutch pedal at least 10-15 times and then hold the pedal to the floor and someone else open the bleeder valve ?
I actually did it by myself using the bottle method with brake fluid in the bottle to prevent air bubbles from traveling back up the tubing!
@@Zspeed was your pedal stuck to the floor with no pressure and it slowly built it?
Can I do this with a manual Ecu and a manual engine harness
@@Zspeed let say it does and I also wire tap it can this cause misfire ?
i did this manual swap on my z like a year ago and if your worried about the cruise control to switch maps on your car when you get it tuned. it’s works perfect just won’t have cruise control features anymore
That's awesome,👏 thank you for the information, that makes me happy 😊!!!!
hey bro are you 100% it works because I'm thinking to swap mine but I want it to be tuned I just wanna make sure it does work
Still working great, I am so glad I finally made the swap!! It was a lot of work, but well worth it in the end!👍💯🏁
