I think Loid's mother was a foreigner from the same country as Anya and Your because the song Yor sang was an old nursery rhyme... That's why he was chosen to be a spy because he looked like a foreigner
Or get this since the author said that he, based both of the main countries off East and West Germany, they're probably from the same ethnic group.
Ostania and Westalis are right next to each other. The croquette lady killed in the bombing said she has Ostanian cousins. They’re pretty comparable to East and West Germany and North and South Korea. I doubt there’s much genetic difference. It does appear a higher proportion of Westalians have light hair. Almost all WISE characters have light hair.

Technically they were from the same country because Ostania and Westalis are based off East and West Germany
Also not to mention his best friends, who he thought had died in the first bombing but didn't, and then they actually die on their next mission right after seeing twilight after many years.
Twilight still beats himself up for it feeling that if he went on that mission with them as well he could've saved them all.
And just for the record, "Loid Forger" was an alias, not his actual name. 🤗

This is my personal theory: Since twilight is his official name because his old one is basically non existent. At the end of the manga he'll legally name himself as Loid forger and turn his family into a legit one.

Interesting that this is based off of the east-west German division, which meant the bombings he was surviving was based off
the Allied bombings of Germany during ww2.
Not a lot is talked about the trauma German children went through in the late and post war so it’s quite powerful a character like Loid emulated the progress germany had to go through to not repeat the wars it waged before
That trauma is an everyday situation for Palestinian children now. Not to forget since 1948. Those who disagree will sadly accept this one day.

although every forger in the family had a sad back story like bond he got shocked multiple times before he was adopted.
Yor both of her parents died when she was young and had to do so much for yuri. Anya she was a test subject and her parents were executed by the scientists and adopted 4 times and returned 4 times

Yor or Loid? They both started off a massacre at a young age.
Keep in mind Loid was actively fighting a war, a lot more bodies there. While Yor may be way more trained in the act of death in particular, assassination's are generally not a high quantity of casualties at once, or constant. Yor probably gets more 'quality' (as in either people deemed bad enough to need to be killed now, high profile, or otherwise hard to kill) murders but Loid probably gets quantity.

His father wasn’t blown up, he just didn’t come home. It’s been deliberately left vague, probably 100% because the father’s going to find him at some point, and he was a massive pacifist, so it’s 100% going to cause a major conflict.

@@samflood5631 Yor would have been 17 when the war ended, Loid is probably in is 30's because the war ended 10 years ago and he spent all that time as a spy and he would have probably turned 18 during while he was a soldier

I mean would you rather watch a anime about a normal average guy John Smith who lived a normal childhood and upbringing and grew out to be a normal person because of it. I think sad backstories are just fine as long as they actually impact the character and explain to us why they turned out to be the way they did. If the backstory had zero influence on the backstory and wad simply used to draw sympathy and boohoo points from the audiencr, i think thats bad writing.

@@theblackfangofkonohanotafu8379I mean.. I guess unrelatable because war isnt something most people directly experience ourself today. This type of writing is more focused on giving sympathy rather than being "relateable" and its not a problem, at least for me personally.
I think Loid's backstory is quite fair though and it gives reason. Its not a bad writing, just use common storytelling.
I guess you can also still make a character without a depressing backstory, but lets be honest, if a character became too bland, or have no problem at all, I think theres a high chance you'll grow bored out of it quickly. Also believe me that its harder to write.
