I just watched your Metallica videos. Then, CKY Vol.1, and now this one. Make more! I was disappointed when I went to your channel page to see that you don't have a lot of videos and that the few you have are years apart. You're good at this. I'll type it again; MAKE MORE!
Hahaha, yes, I’m aware I have a lot of work ahead of me. But I do intend on tackling this channel more consistently. I now have a podcast/music studio set up in my room, so the whole process is smoother and less daunting to approach. 4 years ago when I started, UA-cam’s algorithm wasn’t taking very well to my vids. I wanted to build a more intimate, passion-based channel that didn’t crank out weekly videos that were barely researched, and I still intend to do that going forward. Thanks for taking interest, I’m already in the writing process of making the next one!
They were pretty big here in utah back in the early 2000s. Skating was big in the 90s and 2000s and most of the ppl i knew and hung out with, loved cky. The band and the movies.
Top three albums of my life 1.Rust in peace - Megadeth 2.Symbolic-Death 3.Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild-CKY Please consider reviewing one of the first 2 because you’ve got a gift and passion rarely seen on UA-cam 👍🏻
As a long standing CKY fan, you've earned my sub for going so in depth. It's amazing how IDR still sounds so clean and fresh, it could pass as something that was recorded today.
This is the single most self-actualized rock and roll album in history and the impact it has had on my life is difficult to overstate as it continues to this very day. It contains what I consider the most outstanding rock riff ever written and it forms the foundation of what I find is, while not my FAVORITE CKy song as that shall forever remain Disengage The Simulator, the overall BEST CKy song in the hulking form of grime-covered, bleak indictment of contemporary human banality that is Inhuman Creation Station. The Mission Continues. Force Change Now. Long Live the Alliance and Long Live Ringo Suicide. Meltdown, CKy Alliance since 2001, until death Edited during your look at Close Yet Far: As someone who actually owns dual copies of the run of Volume 2 you reference here and one of only 300 vinyl copies of the...srsly deron was right about the yikes on this name...Oil EP, your authentic devotion and thoughtful appreciation for the greatest band to ever exist shines through quite clearly in these retrospectives. Those Vol 2 copies still sit pride of place upon my mantle and are even signed by the band and most of the crew, one being mine and the other that of my late best friend, role model in all but the last way possible, and my personal hero, whom I have the distinct honor of knowing simply as my big brother Dave-O. I love you and your absence is only but endured every single day, you beautiful dipshit.
With the recent Jackass movie, I’ve been a high CKY kick lately and I’m so glad I found your videos. I’m so happy to know people still Miss THIS CKY. They mattered and they still stand out. Your videos are so well made and I’m glad you used the videos from the dvd since I never seen them before( it’s been since before UA-cam since I listen to them). I know it’s unlikely, but if one more person can convince you, please do Carver City? You know you want to!
this album is in my top 5 albums, and close yet far is in my might be might be my favorite song on the album. I always tend to like the ballady song on albums.
Thank you for this and VOL1 video, awesome job. I've been huge fan of CKY over 15 years now. I saw them live only once, when they had a gig in Finland 2009 (im from Finland yo). It's sad that CKY will never be the same without Deron. Make video about B-sides and rareties? :)
Hey man! Appreciate that a lot! I probably won't do a full length review of B-Sides but I do know that when it's time for the Carver City review, in the outro I'll cover basically the entire post-2009 CKY history, including a brief touch on B-sides. If I do decide to do a B-sides review, it'll probably only be about 5 or 6 minutes long at max. Don't forget to recommend my channel to all of your CKY loving friends!!
Thanks man!! Always wanted to do a review channel like E;R or Ryan Hollinger but I don’t know shit about film haha. Figured I might as well do something similar with music.
Can you do one for the 2009 CKY album “Carver City” ? I remembered disliking it at first but when i re-listened to it years later, it’s become one of my favorites.
Tato Boi Actually, I’m in the process of writing Answer Can Be Found and Carver City! The epilogue of Carver City is gonna be so in-detail, I have a feeling it’ll be around 40 minutes - 1 hour in length! I’ll later do a supercut, combining all the videos and making one long ass history of CKY!
I was 12 when this came out it introduced and was a gateway for me into street punk it was a really interesting time i never thought back on it till this week ....at the time i would think it wasnt a special time that od remember but at 33 now i look back with heart ...the world was nothing like it is now then things really change😞 theres people who are in their 20s who weren't even born yet then 😂
"well, i like volume 1, but then I like IDR. But which is better? There's only one way to find out... FIIIIIGHT!" P.s another band that utilises synths well in a power balled... Nightwish!
One of the best videos I've seen on UA-cam. You really did a great examination and reflection along with crazy-good editing. You should honestly consider a career in editing.
Thank you so much! I’m coming back with a new vid this week! (Hint: it’s about Faith No More Lost Media, but future CKY vids are not off the table by any means)
Those who know how sick this album is will never forget it. CKY and Deron Miller don't get enough credit. For anyone wanting another sweet hit of nasty, disturbingly heavy, unique guitar tones, see Commencement by Deadsy.
FNM,CKY, Metallica! I like this channel. What’s next the history of one of the most underrated San Diego bands Sprung Monkey? If that’s the case I’m in. 🏴☠️👊🎶 bring it on!
@@adarkerstandard oh for sure ! actually came back to fully rewatch this either last night or the night before. love how you can analyze one of my favorite bands so perfectly honestly. & funny enough you ended up responding to my old comment
I’ve been a cky fan since jackass. Off and on through the years and albums. Just recently have dug back in. I appreciate the Phoenix more than I did on release, and now with camp pain there’s some more to digest. I don’t know if they will ever reunite with Deron, but I’m on another cky kick and appreciating it all over again. This video has come out at what seems like a coincidence for me. Well done. Hope to see more quality content.
Thanks bro! Camp Pain is a huge deal to me, even if all of the tracks didn’t completely jive with me. I didn’t get into CKY until shortly after the breakup and I’ve waited years for new material. Didn’t like the Phoenix but at the very least it’s cool to know the CKY brand lives on. But yeah man! Much appreciated. St. Anger should be done and uploaded by tomorrow night. Fucking thing is killing me hahaha. Next I’m debating whether I should do Volume 1 or Answer after it. Then again, I might want to stray from any CKY retrospectives for awhile just to diversify before I circle back to it.
I feel like first 3 CKY albums came out the same year as the Star Wars prequels and it’s definitely interesting that they did. First album 1999 second album 2002 and third album 2005 Phantom menace 1999 attack of the clones 2002 Revenge of the sith 2005
They are my favourite band since 2007, too bad here in Italy no one knows them. When they came here in 2017 we were 20 people at the club to listen them.
This album is great but I didn't know all of this info about how different the sound is and the dedication on making something new, personal and different
Got to Sporadic Movement and felt I had to comment. Now I could be full of shit.... But I saw them live at the Opera House in Toronto (I want to say 2002-2004, I'd have to find the ticket) Anywho... I distinctly remember him doing the scream at the end, in one breath, and then some, and then commenting it on it. In studio? Who knows but I'm certain he could have if it was required. Awesome videos, stumbled on them today. Where's Carver City?!?!?!?
Derek Marshall most likely not. The Phoenix is an utter disappointment to me and I’d rather just mention it in the end of the Carver City Retrospective.
I love this shit and I have another video idea and I wanna start this out as ik it seems shitty but a long road by nickelback it’s the most metal they ever were and it was before photograph not all the songs but most of them were pretty good…
I was more thinking of it from the perspective of the CKY dudes at the time, basically 17-22 yr olds stuck in a middle to upper middle class college town, dreaming of doing something bigger than all of that.
Bam always trying to shoe horn himself into every video he directed 😂 the HIM buried alive by love making of the video and there going over what there going to film for the day and bams just springs on them “yeah and then there should just be a shot of me jumping on the ground” and you can tell everybody is uncomfortable with the idea but doesn’t want to say anything and think it’s kinda of cringy and silly and has nothing to do with anything in the video…. I duno if they actually filmed it but thank god it’s not in the video

Not enough people talk about CKY, especially those first two albums
Agreed! I think they're last two records (when they were still a good band) are criminally underrated
Correction, first 3 :) listened to carver city maybe 2 times ever :/ I didn't hit like previous albums :/
They were pretty big here in utah back in the early 2000s. Skating was big in the 90s and 2000s and most of the ppl i knew and hung out with, loved cky. The band and the movies.
I don’t hate one song on this album. Good stuff one of my top albums of all time
wow. what a great video series.thx for putting these together, so much i didnt know about one of my favorite bands and records growing up

Inhuman Creation Station should have been the follow up single. That song stood out and still does
I think Frenetic Amnesic would've been better. It's beyond catchy
As a long standing CKY fan, you've earned my sub for going so in depth. It's amazing how IDR still sounds so clean and fresh, it could pass as something that was recorded today.
Plastic Plan and Frenetic Amnesic are 2 of my favorite CKY songs to this day. Loved when they would experiment with the sound like this
The quality of this is outstanding. You have inspired me to go back and listen to this masterpiece again. You have my sub.
David de Varona thank you so much! You may have just
energized me to keep working on new stuff!

My first CKY album and still my favorite! Flesh into gear kicks my ass all the time! Great album, great band!
One of my all time favourite albums. Not one track to skip.
Vo Devil 100% agreed. They could’ve put every song on the radio as a single if they wanted to.

You gotta do "Carver City" and "Synergy Restored"
Would love him to cover the 96BB material
Great video dude !! Thought I knew everything about CKY , 10/10
Literally my favourite album
Always wondered where the sound of the guitars came from. Very unique but still heavy.
Every single Song of this Album is amazing. Which makes the whole album amazing.

Currently considering it! Gonna think about moving away from the reviews, and more straight up retrospective style stuff
