This has the worst ending round of anything we've ever done

@@seignee yup, it was an american show. a pretty old one too; i think it was mostly made in the 50s-70s, though maybe it's been rebooted at some point? most people know it more via cultural osmosis than from watching the actual cartoon
Oh, Citv in england made a reboot show of that. I watched with my sisters a while back, and now I just watch it cuz I can't go back now.

Naah, see there is a spymaster button at the bottom, even guessers can click that and see. Is there a way to not allow that for guessers
@@AniketSomwanshi-ll7mz check before the game starts that your guessers pick "play as operative" and not "play as spymaster" (it should list who has what role), they shouldn't be able to change it except between rounds/games

But seriously, i started to tense up in an, "Oh my god he needs to watch it!" So his "don't @me" strike was well worth breaking the rules for.
Clayton having to find a common clue for "patient" and "balloon" while avoiding "vet" and still COMING UP WITH DECOMPRESS was a god-tier move

@@joli1320 Some animals were an acceptable sacrifice and some weren't. As far as I know, it's the same list of animals that the kosher laws allowed the israellites to eat. Noah's story occurs before the law is handed down, but the law lists acceptable sacrifices for each tier of society, and the proscribed sacrifices also meet kosher standards, eg. cattle, sheep, and doves. At the end of the story, Noah actually sacrifices 6 of the bulls after they disembark. Turns out, 1 male repopulates the species about as quickly as 7, if you know what I mean.

Polygon tell Mari that the tennis move is called a back hand. Also, round 1 the black card was vet, round 2 there was a corgi joke, that corgis are round, and that corgis go to vets, round 3 the luck fell and the corgi got squashed. Can I get 10 likes for the “round robin corgi pun?” 😉
The first time I played Codenames, round 1, I said "animal 3" when there were like 7 different animal words, one of which was the assassin. My teammate picked it first. I have not lived it down.
Me: Oh, there's a third round? Huh. I thought the video was almost over.

My friends and I got so mind-melded when playing Codenames that to up the difficulty level we started using vines instead of one-word clues.
I absolutely love that they spent just so much time loving corgis. Corgis are wonderful.

You never know true beauty until you see Earth from space, or true terror until you hear someone knocking on the space station door from outside. You look through the portal and see an astronaut, but all your crew is inside and accounted for. You use the comm to ask who it is and he says he's Ramirez returning from a repair mission, but Ramirez is sitting right next to you in the command module and he's looking just as confused as you. When you tell the guy this over the radio he starts banging on the door louder and harder, begging you to let him in, saying he's the real Ramirez. Meanwhile, the Ramirez inside with you is saying to keep the airlock shut. It really puts life on Earth into perspective.

I still don't understand how "Memorial" was allowed as a clue while "Memory" was on the board. If you can't have Feet for Foot, you can't have Memorial for Memory!

Like they said at the begginning, the rules vary between groups. Feet is just the plural of foot, so of course it's not allowed. Memorial on the other hand is a word from the same family, but not directly related to memory.
Personally, I wouldn't have allowed it, but that's the beauty of tabletop games: you can more or less play however your group wants.
Obviously different groups are gonna play differently, but I'm amazed that it went wholly unremarked from a rules perspective -- at the very least, I would've expected some banter about its suitability as a clue.
@@RobinNashVideos It seems to depend on the language of the rules then. In the French rules, it is strictly forbidden to use clues of the same family of a word on the table.

I love this game! Another valid strategy is to use the number '0' in your clue if you feel stuck because of the assassin card (the black card). Just if you're 100% sure there's a clue that is only valid for the assassin despite that one being really similar to a lot of your cards. This does tell your opponents what the assassin card is, too, but if you have to do this then the similar words likely don't affect the opposing team.
I can't remember off-hand if this allows your team to still make 1 guess choice or not, though.
you have one extra guess after the number so Maybe? it's not the best strategy though because like you said, it reveals it to the other team unless your team is silent about it

a great game for quarantine! I haven’t played with a digital board, but we’ve taken photos of the boards and code cards and sent them onto the other players. v fun!!
There are actually several versions of online boards out there. I can suggest this one: www.horsepaste.com/ It's not the most visually appealing version of the game, but you can create custom games and choose different languages, and I just think that that's a neat feature to have.
