I met her at a club I was bartending at and she was so nice I was shocked ! I told her I was leaving for the Marines and asked her if she dance with me and she grabbed my hand and off to the dancer floor we went lol, I was in Heaven, she even sat at my bar and asked me why I decided to join the Military ! I told her my brother was in the Marines and he asked me to join so we could be together, not in the same unit but we say each other a lot ! We both served for sixteen years ! Thank you Shana for making my day..... I had such a crush on her she was beautiful !

How cool was that! You were in the Marines only 16 years, don't you have to be in 20 years to get a pension? My brother in-law was in the Army as a Ranger, and worked his way up to a full Colonel before retiring at 35 years.
I saw her back in 1990 perform this song at a night club in Charlotte, NC. She sounded just as good in person. I think this was her only hit then never heard from her again. she had talent.
I made this into my ringtone a few years ago, please tell her haha. It amused me to have the mobile singing "I Want you" insistently as it rang haha. Love the synth riff too.
Shes great. I remember when I went to Desert Shield/Storm I lost her tape. So I wrote to her and she sent me a personal letter and copies of her tape for everyone.
OMG. I had been looking for this song for years and couldn't find it. Until today at last. I was looking for it because it brings back beautiful memories of my childhood in 1989 when I had my first stereo cassette radio. Unforgettable times. I always wanted to see who the princess was behind that great and beautiful voice.
I remember hearing this song on a couple of RB soul radio stations wild 1090am and kiss 108 FM in the Days when both of the stations played classic soul RB music in the Boston Area and really enjoyed hearing this amazing young artist on the radio and CD sing this classic now being 52 years of age still really like this song just like it was the 1980s
My wife's favorite music is this genre, 'Freestyle.' Trinere, Cover Girls, Connie, Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam, Taylor Dane etc, etc. She embarrasses our older daughter when she dances around while she bakes to this music. When I see her dance, she still looks like the 20 year old I fell in love with...
Well the 80s was the only decade of music to truly miss as it had the biggest amount of brilliant artists and the most varied of any. But music has been dead since the 90s and no amount of a handful of underground indie artists can reverse the black hole of death begun by Slagdonna, Pete Waterman, the ascent of the joke record and the coming of Simon Cowell and bullshit fake rock by way of shitpop Britopop and c/rap. It's all dead, looking back is the only way to stop us all going homicidal every 5 minutes!
I feel the Exact same way! This time and Era of music was Awesome as soon as I heard just 1 song I got chills it brought me back in time in my mind. I felt 16 again OMG what a good time it was back then. The 80's was a much better time in life and music
She was a high school freshman, probably 15 when she recorded this, and it was the first song she recorded after being discovered at a karaoke booth. The story is on her website. The song wasn't nationally popular until 2-3 years later, which is when this video would've been shot. Except for some strained high notes, her voice has a consistent tone with good pitch and timing, much better than a lot of freestyle vocalists. I wouldn't say "no talent".
I remember going crazy on the dance floor to this song at age 17 wearing those expensive $60 Z Cavorichi pants with black shiny shoes in style in 1989 in a under age dance club called No Daddys (for real) lol. Me and my best friend had a double date with 2 hotties visiting family from Las Vegas and took them in my fathers 65 Cadillac and told them it was a old limo and they believed it lol. This song I Want You by Shana brings me great memories that night in 1989 in Florida : ) Love you Shana.

Me dije... Será que la gente tenía razón? ...
Wow too bad this kind of great dance music isn't out there today as much! Thank God for UA-cam and iTunes! Too bad iPad internet didn't exist back in 1989. I remember having to put a Walkman up to the car window to get a signal to get in music like this now it's too easy with iPad mobile. No more rabbit ears or fuzzy signals! Shana did some country hits later which were actually pretty good.

Went to middle and High School with Shana!! She is an amazing singer and such a sincere, nice wonderful person inside and out!! Love you Shana!!♡♡♡
I'm 46 and I'm going to keep lists to this music until they drop me in a casket. I was so happy and carefree during the 80s.
