I've had mine for 6 months now and it has been great. It works as well with small diameter wire as it is with heavy gage. I have several low cost Kaiweets products, they're built well and hold up to daily use.
I purchased after watching 😂. I concur they are a very good tool. Much better than most others i have discarded.
I WAS HOPING FOR A REVIEW OF THIS TOOL.THANK YOU!
Thanks, good review and it seems to work - I just ordered one - they apply a Christmas discount which is a little more than your code so that's good. Happy Holidays to you Bill ! (non use of code probably not good for you - sorry :( )
Ha, I've been using this exact model (or a 99% similar model) of wire stripper for a few years now. It's not perfect, but it's very useful, and as it's cheap I don't need to worry packing it with me on a trip and losing it.
A common and excellent type of stripper are versions like yours but with groves in the blades for the wire. The blades have grooves for each wire size and provide a untouched space for the copper and allow the blades to cut the insulation without pinching or nicking the copper. They strip 0.25mm / 30 AWG excellent. Check Stripmaster 45-098 for a picture.
aldi and lidl occasionally have packs of connectors with the cutters in. mine are about 4 yr old now and still going strong.
I wanna see companies like Yihua/WEP, szbesttol and Aoyue start selling affordable thermal wire stripper stations.
With things like hotair stations, desoldering stations, preheaters, solderpots, vacuum pickup tools and such being priced in a way that's accessible to hobbyists while remaining functional, I'm surprised thermal strippers aren't being manufactured and sold in the same way.
Getting a clean cut into stubborn jackets without stressing the wires would be nice. Maybe a bit of an overkill luxury, sure, but couldn't many of the things I've mentioned be considered as such?
Thanks for a clear and well considered review. I wonder how this Kaiweets compares to a Knipex device.
