@@sevendeadlystreamersLEGO Henwas's last set did terrible in sales. If I remember correctly, it didn't even make the halfway point. Nothing against the designer. I'm sure he's talented.
That's my most wanted set out of the future BDP lineup. The series 6 victors greatly disappointed me, as there were a large number of incredibly creative sets with engineering we don't see in official Lego. Unfortunately, every single one of those were passed up on. I may also go for Series 5's Adventures in Transylvania, but its interior is designed more as a spooky hotel than a castle, and I expect Lego to slap a ridiculous price on it knowing most people will, unfortunately, pay just about anything for that set. If they do (and they most likely will), I will be skipping it. On a side note, I hope the Floating Waterfall Castle gets a second chance. That is both the most aesthetically impressive set and the greatest feat of engineering I've ever witnessed using Lego bricks. It's such a shame it lost out to the glorified haunted hotel. Regardless, I'll be picking up Thieves of Tortuga minute-one.
I'm with you on the Riverside Scholars. While I'm a fan of Castle, the Seaside Market is boring to me. I would like to start seeing some battle-focused Castle sets, especially on the fantasy side. I know we have the Siege Encampment in this lineup, but I don't see anywhere near $230 + tax in value from that set, so I'll be skipping it, too. The Riverside Scholars suits more of my fantasy set desire, so I'll be picking that up if I can. And hopefully I can since money is tight right now.
The Creator of the Seaside Market has put up instructions and part lists for the two alt builds of it, Which takes slightly more than 2 sets to make Both alt builds, Its a 3 in 1, I suspect that some will be picking up TWO copies of it, and not just the people looking to resell, So I expect it to sell out first.
@ Its two mocs, ones a tower, ones another tower, more port, and a windmill, its on rebrickable, bricks_fan_uy, it won't let me link I thought I had responded, its 1254 pieces which means its about as big as an extra but without the final part list we can't tell what the difference is, but the creator has stated extra pieces will be needed, likely some reds and other ones for roofs and the like, majority will be in two sets. Its an alt build using parts only from 1 set, just need a few extra to make all 3 from 2 sets.
Siege Encampment will sell out first (the minifigures alone suffice for a start-finish-victory), followed by the Medieval Seaside Market. While The Wild West isn't really a thing in the LEGO universe, Wild West Train should be a solid third and sell out regardless.
It would have been interesting to see the prices of these sets in different brick brands for different budgets. Personally I don't have any brand loyalty left to LEGO, the bricks are produced in China now anyway, and they are so pricy compared to alternatives. So if these sets could be built using alternative bricks, it would have been interesting to see what the prices would be.
Idk if the train is gonna sell out. It seemed like the last train set from bdp was supposed to sell out, at least i thought i heard a lot of people interested in getting it and in the end i think it lost the least of the five last year.
Not at all. If you compare these sets to the Lego retail sets of equal piece count I’d say they are very reasonably priced. Keep in mind that BDP sets are limited while retail sets are produced in a much larger volume.
@@vietrounder All Lego sets are overpriced around by 400%. Compare it to competitors such as Funwhole and CaDA, who create higher quality bricks, sets, and instructions while charging 1/2 to 1/3rd the price of Lego. Keep in mind, Lego not only has an incomparably larger supply chain, but they also own the vast majority of it. So, Lego could make thick margins while undercutting their competitors, but they still charge 2-3x their competitors due to a strong brand built from a former monopoly. Lego today is not the Lego of 15+ years ago.
@@PlazDreamweaver it always comes down to supply / demand. It’s not overpriced if people are willing to pay for it and they do. When Lego releases a major set like the UCS for like $1K, people line up around the block before the store is open. Every crowd funding morning on BDP, the site literally crashes and popular themed sets like castles, that carry a hefty price tag of around $500, gets all 30K copies sold out within three hours. And these sets are not even official lego retail sets. Regardless of the criticism, Lego has always been expensive and there’s no denying that they are one of the longest surviving toy companies out there. This alone tells me that they are doing something right regardless of my opinion. Do I wish their products were cheaper? Of course…. Do I think lowering the price would benefit them? Probably not. We have to remember that, from a marketing standpoint, Lego prizes themselves as being the superior product to their competitors, no different than Louis Vuitton, Mercedes, or any luxury item. By lowering their prices to match competitors, they would literally advertise that they are on the same league/class as these inferior brands. Perception is reality.
@@TheBrickQuest Personally, I'm all for the big sets. There's only 5x spots for BDP finalists, which makes it very special and exclusive. I don't see the need to waste these spots on small builds. That's just my opinion.
Bricklink is becoming frustrating. I will probably get the train (with it's 17 stickers - ughh!!!) but knowing I already missed out on one Llucky set and not knowing if the others he has submitted will ever become available. I'm passing on Hanwas as I am already two sets behind. I guess it's a good thing for the "investors" but these already overpriced sets are quickly becoming even more overpriced when buying after the quick sells.
1. Seige: will sell out within 4x hours, mark my words. It is currently the missing set for all medieval fans. It ties all the castle sets together. Can’t have a seige between factions without it. 2. Market: This will sell out within 6x hours. Similar to the seige, it complements all the current castle sets and has never been done before. 3. Train: This will sell out within 48x hours. There appears to be lots of complaints on the changes. I still love the set but I do think it will take a bit longer to sell out. 4. Boat: will be lucky to reach 15k sales 5. Riverside: will be lucky to reach 10k sales
I think the Market will sell out the fastest as it'll be the one 'investors' have their eye on to flip when the time comes, and collectors will be desperate to get before it sells out. The Seige will be next as it encompasses everything Lego should have been releasing as smaller models to accompany the Lion Knights Castle. I agree with you on the Train, but I think the Boat and Riverside will be neck and neck with Riverside edging ahead by the time everything wraps up.
@ can’t say that I disagree with your take on the castle sets. You brought up a good point. About the riverside and boat, I think it’s agreed by most that these sets will be at the bottom. Historically, if a set is going to sell out it will do so within the first 48x hours. I think both these sets will have a very slow start but might gain a last minute upswing when these ‘investors’ see a value in the rarest produced set by Lego. The train is really the biggest question mark of this series because there’s no indication on how strong it stands. I think it’s awesome and will definitely beat the boat and riverside. I’m just curious to see how long it takes to sell out or if at all.
The problem with this series is the next series, with Dracula's Castle being the centerpiece set. The Tortuga and Mushroom sets seal the fact that people will try to not invest in this series because the next one is better.
That’s debatable. Historically medieval castle sets sell out within hours. The S4 sets are currently missing in the castle theme and therefore will be high in demand. S5 is great but there is no medieval castle sets. I just don’t see it playing a part in the success or failure of S4.
@@mirascael 100%. If you’re a medieval castle fan, there’s no way you’re missing series 4. It’s not your typical big grey castle that undoubtedly will reappear in a later season. These are supporting sets that have been missing in the castle theme and may not come again.
Happy that I don’t have to worry about everyone going after the riverside scholars, it’s my favorite!
Same!
You should rather be worried about there being enough orders for this set to be released at all ;)
@@mirascael lol… I was thinking the same
I tend to disagree. I think because Henwas has previous winning sets, it might encourage sales of this one.
