For anyone who doesn't currently HAVE a Kettle, I suggest the SnS Kettle made by SnS Grills; its price is competitive with the Weber MasterTouch, and it's basically a Weber with a much easier to remove / attach ash catcher, pre-installed probe and blower holes with covers, thermometer is on the vent side (where your food actually is), etc. I'd buy one if I didn't already have a Weber kettle.
I would suggest using an automatic center punch so the drill bit won't walk from where you want to drill your pilot hole. I'll be adding one of these for my performer deluxe. Thx for the lesson.
the same here!! 😎👍 but I will not spend $25 on 2 probe grommets...instead, I am using Tapered corks ...each cork will do a dozen cooks before needing replacement ..and they only cost $2 cad , for 4 corks at our home hardware. got the great idea from Big Lew BBQ ua-cam.com/video/5zYJ65WFCjw/v-deo.html
I know this work on the Smokey Mountains which only do low and slow. How do you think that silicon grommet will hold up when doing direct high heat grilling. I realize that you won't be using ptobes at that time. But if you get your kettle up to steak searing temps will it survive or melt?
Hi Charlie. It's holding up well, I replaced the grommet once, I just got a bunch of extras :), since I now run two of these grills. Thanks for watching.

Big Lew BBQ well, I very rarely get it that hot. But so far, it held at 280 C /535 F. If in doubt, you can just take it out
How is this holding up ? And does smoke come out from the grommet

Where did you buy it from please.?
My local Weber Dealer sold them, they’re an official spare part of the WSM. Thanks for watching
So you drilled 32mm not 30mm as first thought?
Yep ... 30 mm was too tight
No need to drill at such high speeds, go through bits faster
The bit is fine. I tried lower speeds, didn’t work for me. Thanks for watching
Well it works if you have less than adequate force pushing the bit
