    If you want to leave the tail light on you can reach up with the shock and snap it in position but it's a bit tight.. other than that this is the fastest way to get it done..

    I am the farthest thing from mechanically inclined. I watched your video and went step by step. I didn’t have help , because my wife didn’t want any knowledge of what I was attempting. I just leaned the tailgate against the bed and it stayed. 15 minutes later , I was completely done. Thanks a lot. Awesome video!

    Just installed mine on my 2019 with the link you listed. Took less than 10 minutes with my son assisting by holding the tailgate for five minutes. Thank You sir!!!

    Did this to my 2019 250. Same method and tools. Took 10 minutes and did it by myself. Thanks for the instruction. Paid 66 dollars for the part on amazon prime. Way better than the Deezee kit

    This video was super helpful and encouraged me to buy a genuine OEM factory solution rather than a 1/3 price cheaper one that may cause me issues. Thanks for showing it can be done with a little help.

    Awesome video, I watched last evening and installed my damper kit today. I didn’t have a helper or extra set of hands. I followed your short cuts and had it installed in less than 20 minutes! Fantastic! Thank you for sharing!

    Foxboss9, I got one of these tailgate assist and installed it just as you and your bride did. The install was quick, simple, and saved me a lot of headaches. I did the tailgate just as you demonstrated. Neat trick. As you mentioned, the toughest part was hand-screwing in that ball joint into the lower screw hole but once it got started, it was a piece of cake. I used a long flat head screw driver and pressed onto the top of the ball joint as I was using the 15mm ratchet wrench to twist the ball joint screw. It self-cut its own threads easily once you get it started. Appreciate the short-cut install tip and the video made the process simple. Thanks.. New Subscriber! 👍🏽🙂.

    Got my kit today and did the install. I didn't have any help so I couldn't take the tailgate off. So I left the cables attached. I opened the tailgate and put a shop table under the tailgate with a padded box on top. I pulled the passenger hinge and pulled the tailgate back a little leaving the drivers side still on the hinge. I pulled the tail light and was able to change out the hinge and install the damper. Took maybe 30 minutes on the 2020 F350. Same Ford part number as yours.

    Awesome video! I like that Ford stock tailgate assist. I have the aftermarket Dee Zee tailgate assist on my 2015 F250 that costs $30.00. I recently removed the first Dee Zee tailgate assist that lasted 4 years. The mounting ball (similar to your Ford one) actually bent and the assembly started to corrode. I had to drill out the old ball mount and install the new assembly. Of course Dee Zee's warranty is for 3 years. I will inspect my current one prior to the 3 year warranty expiration.

      Wonder if that's a slang term? I do know why I've always called it that... Must have heard it from someone in the past... My first archaic looking ratchet wrench was given to me back in the 80's.... I think I heard it in the motorpool when I was in the Army...

    Thanks for the video, i installed mine today. Doesn't work quite as well as the oem one on my friend's F150, but I have the tailgate step and he does not (so his tailgate is lighter). Mine works considerably better than the deezee that I installed about 6 months ago.

    Foxboss9, thanks so much for your video, I literally purchased my 2019 Ford F350 long bed crew cab yesterday, it's a XLT but has a few extra options and one of the first things I have been searching the interweb for is a easy or soft opening tailgate for my new truck? And low and behold here's your great and awesome video (a hell of a lot more informative than anything on any official Ford website) this is my first Ford in around 35 years and hopefully the truck will turn out to be a lot better than their so called helpful websites (which SUCK so far)! Thanks again I'm just going to follow your UA-cam videos, Shit on Fords owner apps? Thank you sir from Kings Mountain NC

    Cant get that bolt to start the self threading process. Any ideas on how to?? Everything else is simple enough except for that. I think I am going to have to end up taking the rear fender off to be able to put pressure on an impact tool to thread that bolt in there. Thought it would be as easy as it looks on your vid but!!!

    Watched your entire video then I clicked on the link you supplied. I copied the Ford part number and checked with the Ford parts and it said it will not fit. The link you gave has a photo that has no lower ball stud in the photo. You clearly showed installing a lower ball stud installation procedure in your video. The one I ordered has no lower ball stud. My truck is a 2019 Superduty crew cab. Where do you get the lower ball stud?

    Loc-tight is essential a sugar.. once it dries its useless it may look wet but it's not.. clean the threads with a wire brush and re-apply with medium strength thread lock.. btw thier is a permanent thread lock that requires high heat to losen.. DON'T USE THAT ONE.

    Did the piece cause a gap against the body panel and the tailgate? I installed this and there is a noticeable gap difference on the right side as opposed to the left side. To be more specific it’s on the right side where the tail-light is at and continues from top to bottom of tailgate.

    • @Foxboss9
      @Foxboss9  4 роки тому +1

      The Gap is caused by a Misadjustment when you reassembled the lower mount

      In this video we installed it on the 2019 and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. We trade it in the 2019 bought a 2020 F350 and installed the same part and number and it has worked flawlessly so far even with the extra weight of the built-in tailgate step on this heavier tailgate.

    So tell me, whats the secret to getting that stupid threading bolt to bite and actually screw in?? Fought with it for an hour... won't go in...

    • @jdhutton4771
      @jdhutton4771 2 роки тому

      bit late now. but if others are looking. if you can't get it to thread in from the correct side run it in from the back side. it will cut the threads. take it back out and put it in the correct side. done! you can get a air ratchet in from the back to get the initial cut as well.

      Whenever we first were looking at these trucks she was making it clear that we needed to have running boards on them. Well if you've seen my previous video talking about my F250 it came with running boards on it and I immediately removed them. Reason being and this morph East part of the country were in the Rust Belt and anywhere that running boards attached to the bottom of the truck have a tendency to rust right away because they usually drill holes to mount them and don't treat the holes and they also hold water up against the frame where they mount. However, this truck came with the running boards and I can't get in it without them. I didn't realize oh, and I'm not sure why oh, these trucks are so darn tall. It's almost comical. I had, for a brief amount of time, a 1975 F250 Highboy that had been lifted 2 in. This truck is taller than that one. Again I'm not sure why that is but everybody must want tall trucks.
