Annabel Raises the Dead Animatic (from Dolls of New Albion)

EEEEEEE, its done! I can't believe how much I've improved since the first of these I made, def have come a long way since then. If only I could have the drive to make more than one video per year... T.T
Some notes on this project:
One of the things I really wanted to work on was setting, especially since the whole video takes place in the same location. I completely redesigned Annabel's home/lab into something that I think is both more interesting and more applicable. Like, I originally had a spiraling ramp for her to get to her room on the second story, but realized that would be way too steep for wheelchair accessibility, so I changed it into an elevator.
Speaking of, I also put more work into drawing her chair. Before, I was drawing a chair that I now know was completely unintuitive for someone with Annabel's needs. She's very socially isolated and self-reliant, so she needed something that provided more of those features. I don't know if it comes across in each image, but I was trying to show that she has an active chair rather than the more hospital style I drew in previous videos.
The other big aspect I tried to incorporate was the process of summoning Jasper. While Annabel is extremely scientifically minded, she still lives in New Albion, a place of intense magical shenanigans. It was the inclusion of more alchemical aspects that really pushed my ideas along. Fun fact, the flower she picks in an Easter Lily, which are a symbol of resurrection and associated with the resurrection story of Jesus. Considering Christianity is a huge inspiration for this musical, I knew I had to include this flower somehow.
Other influences were classic Frankenstein movies, as well as the musical (links to some of my favorite animatics for that down below) and Series of Unfortunate Events. Google image searches with the word "antique" was also particularly helpful.
I'm not sure if I'm going to making another Dolls of New Albion animatic the next time I do this. Honestly, I kind of want to do some of the battle scenes from the Posthuman War, but I'm afraid the action would be way to advanced for me. I'm really more a comic artist rather than an animator.
We'll see I guess. ^^

Precious! I don't remember having seen other TDoNA animatics that had this kind of detail about Jasper's summoning, I loved it so much!

Yeah, I had to do a lot of brainstorming to think of a really visual way to show the summoning. Everytime I got stuck on a scene, focusing back on technicalities pulled me through.
