Wow, this was so much more than replacing the clutch! Thanks for the in depth look!
On the clutchh pad do you tighten the bolts with springs all the way down or only a certain number of turns?
Tighten all the way
hello there, I have been watching your videos for a while new and I really appreciate all the videos you make. thank you.
Thank you this is my first 49cc 4 Cycle I'll figure it out thanks to you
Hey thanks for the advice. I would do a quick video but I already pulled the engine off the bike. Wow the motor mounts were on backwards. I am just glad the frame was not cracked. It's a new perfect fit Cranbrook.luckily🤔 thanks I'll let you know 😎
I have a honda gxh50 and my bellhousing ring on the case side where the transmission bolts up isnt nearly as maybe 1/4" i just ordered a bike berry transmission kit do i need to kit some kind of spacer to accommodate or is it still achievable without also does anyone have any good carburator upgrade part numbers or exhaust options they recommend?
Grat video,i got a similar motor for my bicicle, but the pads wear off bery fast ,i put a new one same happened,do you think is the pads qualty? Thaks
What's the name for the part that sets the drive sprocket farther inwards? I just ordered a gearbox online for mine but the chainline is really outboard
I ended up putting a new two shoe clutch instead of the three shoe clutch.now it doesn't want to engage at low rpm?lol.the springs look heavier.is there anything i can do?
I think you'll need to replace with the same one for it to work correct
Love the work man just love it,so here's my problem, the plastic piece or gear got torn to pieces wondering how to replace and where to get the gear, also the inside of transmission had a washer that got broke into two pieces it looks like it goes behind the gear shaft leading out of the trany case any feed back would be awesome and save me 100 bucks I'm sure , once again love the work you do good job .eugene
I'd offer it would be best to replace engine and transmission. Sounds like you got plenty of use out of it anyways, Some parts are available on eBay but figure the time and risk of it not working it might be easier to start fresh and you'd have time to tinker or have spare parts

Can I replace the pads on the clutch shoes on My 49 cc centrifugal clutch
I have a friction drive huasheng 144f.should i oil the moving parts of the clutch assembly?and when i took it apart it was full of clutch shoe powder.is that bad?
No oil. They will create that powder as parts wear. Normal and expected. All good in da hood
@@HughesMotorized same question and powder? Really?
Ok so I ordered sorta the same thing but I got a 49cc 4 stroke flying horse friction kit. So I'm not suppose to grease the "transmission" when It arrives?
Oh wait that's right he's talking about the cluch but still do I ever grease the transmission
@@peterpemrich6962 powder= clutch dust/debris. Bearings are sealed so no grease required
What’s the part compatability like between the 49 and 53cc engines? I’ve got a 53cc and the transmission is fubar, it looks like it got dropped on it hard and the bell and the other pulley is wrecked. Would a transmission from a 49cc engine work?
I have yet to get my hands on a 53cc. I think they are the same as the 49cc but with just a bigger bore and larger piston rings. The transmission should fit as long as it is the same type. Belted vs chain drive.
For the bolt in the middle is it clockwise or counter clockwise to remove it and how should I stop the shaft from moving when I try to remove the center bolt
counterclockwise to remove. You can put a screwdriver in it and hold it still while loosening bolt. Place screwdriver in opening and have tip rest on shagt locking it into place
hey I've got the same kit but the one from gasbike.net,I'm having problems with the clutch shoe wearing out and the springs stretching and coming out,I've replace the clutch like 4 times already and it don't last me 2 weeks and the same problem happens, can you help.
+BOSSMAG VIL what size wheels you running? 26?
26 inch
+BOSSMAG VIL 7G TBelt transmission? or cheaper one w/ sealed chain drive inside reduction transmission?
I'm having the same problem to. I run a 26in wheels and it's the cheap transmission that's chain driven on the inside. if you can point me in the right direction that would be awesome.
THAT, sounds like a primary drive issue. More clutches are burned out on these things by too high a gearing and primary drive bearings going out. Both load the clutch beyond it's limits. I have a Grubee G4 5:1 unit with the freewheeling sprocket on the output end. I have never had ANY issues with burning out ANY clutches. I had the bearings go on a primary unit and it loaded the down the AX-25 belt. I even bought an HD AX-25 that was far more than the stock line. It was being stressed too, but hung right in there. Turned out the shaft bearings on the output AND the clutch bell side bearings were ALL shot. Went back to the G4 and have had NO problems.
Hi, big fan of your work but on this one wish you would have showed more like when you say put your clutch back in and you don't show how just the finished job,
Yeah, I kinda dropped the ball on that one. Sorry
Ok new carburetor, new clutch,53cc 4-stroke. It idles great. But when you give it throttle its sputters,it still goes but it sputters like the choke is on??do I have to check the timing?
Clean carb might help. Float might be sticking
It's a new carburetor 🤔🤔
@@kaseygrumpykeller5867 sometimes those new carbs need cleaning. Hard to diagnose w/o hearing it run. post a vid on my FB page
I did post a video , your suggestion was 56 tooth sprocket 😁😁
Hey sorry #4 bolt was stripped in the beginning of the the video you sad you would replace the outer case what goes behind the clutch. Was it possible to drill it out and pat it?
+K0MRADru I had a spare. Didn't care to drill & tap
I see.
I have a new engine that came in with the clutch already broken. Will I still have to use a puller, or should it be easier since it's never been used/
never know till you try
It ended up just breaking all the way off from my efforts. Must have been more cracked than I thought. I've got her up and running now.
So, I had to replace the clutch to my 4-stroke recently. Now, when I turn on the motor, the clutch wants to engage even when the bike is idle. I'm not sure what I did wrong or how to fix it.
Lower the idle first. If that doesn't fix it the springs might be too light
Hi i own a 4 storke moto kit and for some reson the was spitting out through the air filter what do i do
Almost sounds like your head gasket is shot
will this bike with centrifugal clutch pull uphill? with low rpm the centrifugal force is lowest while torque is highest. how in principle this could work?
I''m running the same rig, and you'll want to help it with pedaling at low speeds to reduce burning the clutch, I find it best to at least get a little rolling before getting on the gas
where did you find your replacement clutch for this?
3pc clutch for 5/8" tapered shaft - ebay.us/P2t0H2
@@HughesMotorized thank you. i have a lil chinese outboard motor that takes that clutch.and it just happen to break a clutch spring and trash pads
@@deibert1 Cool beans. What make and model? Sometimes you cannot find these
@@HughesMotorized its a sican 4hp 4 stroke.i ordered 4
yes, changing the clutch is pretty simple, i have had problems with the clutch, they dont last long, the problem that i have is the springs come off, i found another clutch designed differently.
Same here, I m having issues with my 4 stroke clutch..
What another design did you find that solved your issue ?
i hope i will be able do this on my generic ebay 49cc 4stroke engine without getting a sledge hammer, hehe
thanks for the video it help me to much
I have a problem when my engine arrives and I put it on the bike when trying to pull off the chain starts to wobble and click and does not want to dial what it could be?
Wheelchair wheels on a motorized bike?
what is the failure rate of this engine and where do you buy spare parts, please
Gasbike, Amazon and eBay
where did you buy the new clutch
+Niall Beggan Gasbike
@@HughesMotorized is that a web site?
@@yepnaugh5241 yes indeed
How you take off a clutch on a 49cc 4stroke bra it got 3 screws in it and the magnetic key looks like it welded
Bolt in the middle?
When did you repair it?
What transmission fits this motor?
This one is the taered shaft engine. Usually comes with an enclosed, chain drive transmission. You can get a belt driver one that fits it from ThatsDax
@@HughesMotorized Thank you so much!
How can you tell if the jack shaft is taper or not??
The number for bolt broke on mine too exact same engine smaller chain drive
Hello i just bought a 49cc from ebay. When i installed the motor on the bike when i started the engine the drive shaft go's automatically with out hitting the throttle. And it burned out my clutch pad. Why when i start the bike is it drive with out hitting the gas? Can anyone please tell me why.
sounds like carb slide is stuck open, check cable and make sure slide is dropping completely. There isn't a drive shaft so I'm not sure of what your issue is
I have the same motor. Just got it this month. Unfortunately, the clutch locks up and doesn’t allow the transmission to disengage. Did anyone else have this issue?
Newer clutches are grabby and usually work better after a little while. Is your idle set as low as can be and still idle?
I got a brand new clutch and I put it on mine and my bike seems to want to go on its own when I pull start it can anybody help me
Your clutch is engaging too early,Check your clutch springs, I had a grubee 4G Kit I got in recently and it was missing 1 of the 3 clutch springs
Ya my rear tire keeps spinning without any throttle is this the sam e thing you have goin on ?
I find that the metal on that engine it's quite a bit softer then the metal on a 79cc
Grip it, rip it, watch it go!
Amen brother
Hi where can i buy that puller tool ?
I rented it. 3 jaw puller
O yeah 2 bolts holding the mounting plate to the cast iron brackets.
Seems all that was wrong in this video was one spring? Why did it all have to be disassembled? Couldn't you just replace the one spring?
The purpose of the video was to show how to replace clutch and other service procedures...
