Hi, I have a question, I need to print like a simulate/test an image on a inkjet as it would be printed on a offset, how do I do? Thank you.

Hi Marco- Unfortunately, they are two different technologies and one would not be an effective representation of the other for proofing purposes. There are many offset proofing systems on the market, such as MatchPrint - a prepress proofing system from Kodak Graphic Communications (graphics.kodak.com) based on inkjet technology that you may want to explore.

Hi, and thanks for the answer, i'am a student and this would be for a examen, so I think I have to do it just using photoshop and a epson stylus 4900. Any ideas?

Marco - Here's how it usually works- A contract proof usually serves as an agreement between customer and printer and as a color reference guide for adjusting the press before the final press run. Most contract proofs are a prepress proof. The primary goal of 'proofing' is to serve as a tool for customer verification that the entire job is accurate. If you want to see that the traps and bleeds and image is positioned correctly, then an inkjet will tell you that. Ink jet printers are pretty darn good these days, but if you want to simulate true offset color and resolution, as a printer, you'd want to use a professional press proofing system that is built for and calibrated to your press. However, if you are a student who is interested in registration and positioning on press- your inkjet printer should service you well. Without a high end proofing system build for and calibrated to your specific press- the only other way to do this is to actually do a short run on that press which would also have to include makeready (getting the press up to speed to get a clean image). Hope that helps.
