    My battery is totally flat. I connected this charger and it was slowly pulsing on red the first bar, then about 5 minutes later it went all the way to green and that started pulsing. Not sure why as the car battery is totally flat so not sure why it’s saying it’s almost full?

    • @WESLAIRA
      @WESLAIRA 10 місяців тому

      The charger thinks the battery is fully charged because the few good cells in the battery probably are charged. The bad news is that you had a battery that needed replaced due to all of the bad cells that couldn’t take a charge. With this charger it’s possible that the repair mode would help restore some of the cells but unlikely it will make the battery new again.

    Did you measure the 'maintenance mode' voltage? I own the precedessor - G7200 (and many more charges, since I look after a bunch of yacht batteries) and it has no float, unlike other brands. Many brands offer ~13,5 V float once charging is done. Cheap crap just switch off when done. Noco so far did 'monitor' and trickle with some impulses not allowing to drop below the 'full charge voltage', but this means the battery was kept at around 12,9 - 13,0 V. This obviously means that if full gravity wasn't restored, the trickle charge won't do any good. G7200 was awesome in repair mode but is lacking the float voltage (manufacturer confirmed me that in writing 2 years ago, that they don't have the float voltage in maintenance mode in the 'current range of Genius chargers'. Did the upgraded product line change in that matter or you still don't see 13,6-13,8 V on a connected battery after a few days or weeks, rather seeing 12,9 V instead. That's what G7200 does.

      For optimal
      results, take the 12-volt battery through a full charge cycle, bringing the battery to full charge, before using this mode. 12V Repair can take up to four (4) hours to complete the recovery process

    Thanks for explaining "Repair Mode" to me. I just purchased a new battery, because I didn't know about repair mode, and I was only able to get the Noco to charge the one year old battery to 31% health. The new battery drained down to 19% health in two days, and then I charged it with the Noco again to 31%. This made me wonder. I wasted money on a new battery, but at least I learned from it. Hope changing the alternator is the issue....1993 Nissan Pathfinder giving me grief.

The charger connects with positive/negative terminals under the hood as you mentioned. But the LED on the charger has been staying at 25% and dimming in and out at 50% for a while (more than 24 hours). The electronic panel in front of driver seat has been flashing when connected with Genius 10 charger. Any ideas why it does not reach 100%? Thanks a ton!
