If the year 2000 counts as 'back in the days' - Tao/Cream found out how to create Pokey sounds on the Atari ST in this year (you can find several captures of his 'Breath 2000' tune here on YT). What's more interesting is that there are (at least) two ways to create these sounds on the ST: While Tao was using a 'mini sample' instrument of eight values (ttrak: Timer 3 ('16 stage user waveform'), mym: MIX 00 05), Dma-Sc is using the 'Octave FM' effect that has been implemented in ttrak and mym only recently.
It's not a chipmod. TTRAK is a YM-chiptracker with a very advanced replay routine, Damo and Tat at their best. It's amazing that we have two of these modern trackers still being developed.
Fantastic!
Shouldn't be surprised by POKEY sounds, on YM with all these tricks, but still... Shame these effects weren't developed back in the day.

Dma-Sc rulez 😃
Funky!
If someone could do a Streets of Rage game on the ST with these capabilities, I would love to play it!
Odd sounds but the overall mix is great, it is some kind of a chipmod as Amiga people call it?

Możliwości ma spectruma, lecz to atarowców duma. Faktycznie!
never really seen this tracker. can someone quickly explain the "groove" field. Probably for setting the swing..
Exactly. Instead of using an effect column in the pattern to set song speed Line by line, you set the song speed here.
