    For Pogacar, I think that the biggest long-term challenge to continuing to win at the level he has is not the competition, or training, or even aging. The biggest challenge is safety. At the UCI World's the cycling community was once again reminded of the fact that it is a dangerous sport with the death of the young Swiss rider Muriel Furrer. Every race I say a little prayer that everyone makes it through safely.

    He said in the interview that when he does a 5 hour training ride outside Monaco where he sustains 320-340W for 5 hours non stop, the next day he would not be riding the bike... So, ordinarily, when he goes on longer flatter sustained rides he drops the power to 290-300W. I might imagine that when he does 'Zone 2' rides in Monaco, where it's very hilly, his normalized power is 320-340W, because he's pushing harder on the climbs, recovering on the descents, as he said. Regarding his critique of power meters, he's clearly taking a dig at Shimano. Being contractually obligated he doesn't have a choice - can't sneak a different power meter on the #1 rider in the world!

      Shimano should just really buy SRM or a power meter company imo. Their left side actually was tested tl be accurate, it's the right side causing issues to total power as it's wildy off depending if you're running the big or small ring

    The secret is not 300+W for 5 hours, the secret is how exactly to get there. Its a secret for a reason.
    And yes, he's right about inaccuracy of powermeters. He uses Shimanos 😂.
    Measuring data is easy, the real art is to know what to do with the data to improve.

    Nobody really knows but for me, he doesn’t fit the model of a cheat. My view, no 10 year old dreams of cheating, they dream in romanticised terms of being a hero and winning. Every one who has commented either way can surely agree with that, we’ve all been 10 right? So when does cheating make any sense to a young promising athlete? It’s when they start to believe that they can’t win. Has Pogacar ever got to that place? Well you could argue that after TDF loss no.2, he might have felt that for the first time. But that would say to me, he achieved a huge amount without cheating, so it would be a huge risk to start cheating for this season, as his whole career achievement at risk. Bottom line, the reason he got here is he realised that he had to get really lean to beat Vin, and you could see that from Day 1 this season. I am not saying his character is beyond cheating, it might be, it might not. But he has never had to consider not being able to win without it, which is why I don’t believe Usain Bolt cheated either.

    • @ryoukokonpaku1575
      @ryoukokonpaku1575 Місяць тому

      @@larsengamezif that's the case, then why the domination? It's not like he has exclusive access to drugs that his competitors don't have if that were the case. Research for them isn't some super secret sauce either that none but UAE has access, it's publicly available with multiple papers available that constantly test what can be considered doping in laboratories around the world that their competitors can apply.
      If everyone is doped, then no one is as that becomes the baseline on that level. This doesn't explain the dominance at all. This doesn't even consider how the athlete passport works, which basically checka for trends all the way from the moment he started his pro career. So anytime he'd not dope would be marked as an anomaly immediately, the only way this would work is if he doped since he was a kid and hasn't stopped till now. Which would actually be dangerous and can kill you, since like in the olden days of doping where blood would be so thick that certain dopers would've needed to always exercise and pump the hr up at certain times to stay alive.

    C'mon!! No rider is going to spill the beans on their training secrets or how hey are achieving these performances. This is Pogi and UAE trying to calm down the rumours of his alien like performances. His performances are too reminiscent of the days of Lance. It's not like he has some secret that nobody else knows about. The whole peloton is doing all the same things. This is a poor attempt to try and cover his tracks. Personally I don't think he'll ever get caught for doping. The big doping programs hardly ever get caught but this is just like SKY introducing the "marginal gains" phenomena that everyone bought into. We now know that was true but there was more going on than what they claimed, obviously. I used to love Pogi but now I'm not so much of a fan. His attitude has even changed into a more arrogant attitude. He knows people are questioning him and the team so they are doing anything they can to cover their tracks

I am not going to stop cos someone says it's rubbish or they've seen me make these comments before. Pogis data is off the charts. NO RIDER HAS EVER been able to do 7w/kg for extended periods without PED's. It really that simple. Every rider in history that has done numbers like this has been a doper and Pogis numbers are even higher than those of the greatest dopers. Believe what you want. I'm not here to tell you to believe me. I'm here to tell you to do the research yourself. Even the other teams and directors are claiming Pogis achievements are WAY OUT OF CONTROL. It's so blatantly obvious. Pogi is an amazing athlete but there's no doubt he's on "the program"!!
