John Clarke, a 55 year old man at this stage, captures the shiftiness, petulance and gormlessness of a naughty pre-pubescent boy perfectly here. A great comic actor.
And now Scott gets to ride the bike after Malcolm got kicked off it. Chinese television had an article about the fact that an Australian Prime Minister has not served more than 3 years since 2007. They just can't stop stabbing each other in the back.
Simon Crean took the leadership of the Australian Labour Party from Kim Beazley, after Kim lost the leadership when he was defeated by John Howard at the general election in 2001 (Kim had also previously lost to John Howard in 1998). Simon Crean survived a leadership challenge by Beazley in June 2003, but then stood down in November 2003 after continued rumblings from his "colleagues". He was replaced by Mark Latham.
Wow, John really nailed that impression... I especially loved the way the punchline was delivered :D
"I'm NOT speaking like this..." Amazing!
"Kimmy, look at me, look at me..." Nice :)
Settz LOL! Just got that reference😂
I miss Kim Day-Knight!
My favourite Clarke and Dawe Of. All. Time.
Was there a Costello-bike version too or is my memory failing me?
Has to be one of my favourites.
A gaping hole in Australian political commentary & entertainment without this duo.

"I'm really, really, really disappointed to hear you speaking like this."
"I'm not speaking like this."
Thanks for posting this series...

one of my personal favourites. Crean and big Kimmie. Brilliant stuff that hasn't dated
Today, it's Malcolm and Pete....
Different names, same show. History really is depressing. Human history anyway.
And again!
Perfect - Other parliaments the names change the ideas remain the same. So funny.
Can we vote someone in posthumously???
Sometimes no action, in a destructive direction, is better than action, so maybe your idea is a good one!
I know this sketch is a brilliant mock of a 2003 current event & the players. I wish I knew the back story.
Lisa W swap kim for tony simon for malcolm.
Give it a few more years and sadly it'll likely be relevant again with a simple change of names.
The government is Bob
well why bloddy not ??
:)
Can some good Australian sport explain the politics? This is hysterically funny stuff, I wish I had a little context! Thanks in advance.
