Many don't know this, but Denis was diagnosed with a medical condition that rendered him physically unable to direct a bad movie.
Nah, he did one bad one - Dune
😂 you are delusional @@ChaosKingable
Don’t know, haven’t since his first two. Apparently he was so disappointed with them he stopped working for 9 years.
@@ChaosKingablegood one! 😅
@@ChaosKingableSILENCE!
This guy is keeping sci-fi alive.
He’s keeping movies alive
He literally should be the one to do a live action Akira instead of Taika Waititi
It's especially an incredible feat because North Americans hate sci-fi (in terms of viewership compared to fantasy and action movies).
Hell yeah man.
In a sea of absolute garbage, especially from Disney/ Marvel, to still have these kinds of blockbusters is a blessing. Seriously
@@knivez786
Oh god HE'S doing Akira!?
I can't take his movies seriously. He can't take himself seriously. Painfully unfunny
Damn, he already know what the film will be in his mind
With how intense his movies are you would think he would be an insufferable Kubrick type, but he seems really patient and measured.
Polite. Direct. Driven. He knows what he wants. One of the greatest directors alive today.
Oui
Let’s be honest, the greatest director in his prime rn no questions
“A bit more insecurity” 😂
No problem
Arrival is a masterwork - that you can rewatch constantly.
You can also start watching at any point
Sometimes while working I put it on the background
it's wild.. just a few years ago no one knew who this man was. Now he's already an absolute power house. I mean how long has it been since we've had a new movie director that everybody knew by name and no one had anything but praise for?
Genuinely my favorite "new blood" director
Alejandro Inarritu?
I think that's his name haha.
Nolan
@@stevennieto9898No silly that's another guy but props to your comment 😅
Damien chazelle
Sicario was my first Villenueve outing and by god, the vistas and visual style of it left me speechless. Been a fan ever since.
Arrival is deadass my favourite movie. Villeneuve just cannot miss.
Oui
He explaining how he will move the cameras, how hi sees the scenes and making the actors share his vision. That is a true leader.❤
I would watch a 4 hour video of just clips like this
Same! Craving it actually
D.V. has such a warm, respectful, but commanding presence. Along with his skill and vision, no wonder why his crews are so dedicated to help deliver his films!
After watching blade runner, it totally changed my perception of movies. These releases are supposed to be the best of the best and Dennis really made me see that everyone else has either been directing bc they have connections or they have money. Dennis’ movies are leagues above in every way, especially aesthetics
This is what a man of vision sounds like. He knows where everything belongs. A master chef and his Mise en Place! 👏🙌
Well yeah... Knowing where everything belongs, i.e. blocking, is one of the most important skills and responsibilities of being a film director.
@tronam lol duh... any director can cover the basics. The level of detail he's calling for here is remarkable. And it shows in his work. Every shot. Each mineute detail. Absolutely nothing out of place.
When you watch his films, and pay attention to everything around the focal point on screen, you won't find a single error. Every person who takes a single step on his set knows exactly what they're doing. Or they will very soon. Nothing is left to chance. No misguided ideas allowed to drift into this space. No debris.
Perfection. I only wish we got to see the 5-hour cut. But that isn't something a perfectionist like Denis Villeneuve would ever allow. It's a catch-22 we must accept.
@@carpeimodiemvery well said
Such a calm presence.
He's so aggressively French CANADIAN! 😂
God what an artist. Haven’t been that moved by a movie in a long, long time
His visuals are stunning!
Frankly, the moment I saw Arrival this man had me in a chokehold
Sci Fi without CGI. The guy s a legend.
Huh? Dune has tons of CGI along with all sorts of VFX from digital compositing and color grading to rendered animation and volumetric effects. What do you think those 447 VFX artists were doing? Just twiddling their thumbs? It's just all blended together so seamlessly that it looks real, like all *quality* visual effects should do. We only notice CG when it's rushed and the VFX artists aren't given enough time to complete their work in accordance with the director's vision.
Lol what??
Someone: Denis is a bad dir...
Denis: SILENCE!!
He can make a mundane things become epic
One of the masters
He makes me proud to be Canadian
he makes even more proud to be from quebec
Québec !
Ah man i’m relieved, i thought he was french! No wonder he’s so kind and a genius, GO CANADA!
@@user-bp4zt8fg1e french canadian ;)
He's both, canadian-french. Best of both worlds 😅. @@user-bp4zt8fg1e
a master
Legend
Props to him. I think i could be an awesome director...id be sooo bad that the film would be a work of art hahaha
Genius.
Genius
Excellent. I always knew directing was easy. Just say, "higher, slower, look over there."
He sounds like a director lol
Is that Jeremy renner ?
Yes he’s in Arrival from 2016
@@trevorwhiteboy2649Ohhh!!! I was confused, I don't remember him being in Dune at all!
@@baffled_hawkAnother banger of a Denis film
@@Bpinator Agreed. Wind River was amazing. This guy just never misses with his movies.
@@baffled_hawk Wind River was Tyler Sheridan but still a beauty movie.
tfw you have to tell the actors to be MORE insecure lol
When was Channing Tatum in one of his movies?
They looked like chicken strips in a microwave in the very first clip
My head hurts: move here, look over this way, stand here. Jesus im more glad i didnt try to become an actor
Lmao acting is a much easier job than 95% of the other jobs out there
@@someguy315 you a current actor?
@@someguy315sure is, buddy ;)
